  1. What's that? I've never heard of it...
  2. Anybody??
  3. I have been gluten free for 2 years now, & casein/soy free for 1-1/2 years. I was diagnosed as intolerant of gluten, soy, casein, & egg through Enterolab. I reintroduced eggs about 3-4 months ago, & seem to be tolerating them well. I want to reintroduce casein yet, & am wondering if others have had success with this too? I never even knew...
  4. Hi! Thanks for posting. I havn't been on this forum for SO long, & decided today I'd better check back in again. Glad to hear there's more of us in this area!
  5. Thanks to both of you for replying. I'm sure it's not a big deal (I went through the endoscopy/EGD without sedation, after all), but hearing the word "mass" always seems concerning. Thanks again!
  6. Anybody?
  7. The pancakes are very good - I used to eat them before I went soy & egg free. My daughter adores them, which is good since she'll probably being going gluten free soon. I tried the brownie mix last weekend, using Ener-G egg replacer too. The flavor was great, but after they cooled they were SO hard to chew. And I think the recipe calls for too much...
  8. Some of you followed along on my "I'm cold all the time!" topic awhile back, & I thank you for your responses & suggestions. My T4 & TSH both remain low-normal (which is odd: if one is down, the other should go up - so perhaps it's the pituitary acting up). I'm now on a low dose of T4 replacement hormone, & my energy levels are going up...
  9. To answer a couple questions posed to me: I was diagnosed Non-celiac gluten intolerance because of the fact that: 1). I didn't have DQ2 or DQ8 2). My blood work was all normal. 3). My biopsy was normal. I really didn't care whether they gave me the celiac label or not; I knew that I needed to be gluten free to get some of my health back. I also found...
  10. As you can see from my signature below, I have "non-celiac gluten intolerance" per the doctors. I do not have the DQ2 or DQ8 genes, but according to Enterolab have 2 copies of DQ1 (hence my many neurological symptoms prior to going gluten free). I decided to have my 4 year-old daughter tested through Prometheus (blood only) so the insurance would pay...
  11. My lab results from 1 week ago: TSH (sensitive): 1.35 (range: 0.35-5.5) Free T4: 0.99 (range: 0.80-1.80) Anti-TPO AB: 0.4 (range: 0.0-3.9) He just retested them again yesterday, & started on T4 replacement (low dose) today. Ultrasound of the thyroid in a couple of weeks too. Wish me luck!
  12. I went in to see my doctor today, to follow up on why I still feel so terrible all the time: Freezing cold, no energy, exhausted whether I sleep or not, increased fibro symptoms, etc. He listened to everything & didn't treat me like I'm nuts, which I was a little concerned about. He has tested my thyroid antibodies (for Hashimoto's) & said...
  13. What's your recipe for bread? I havn't made any gluten-free bread yet, but am thinking seriously about it, because the ones in the store are pretty nasty (especially since ones like Kinnickinnick make theirs with eggs or milk, which I also cannot have). Thanks!
  14. All right, where do you live? I'm coming over RIGHT NOW for some of that cake. YUMMMYY!!
  15. Today was the lunch out with all my coworkers, & it went beautifully. Prior to leaving the office I heated up some homemade minestrone soup I'd previously made, & my coworkers seemed glad I was taking food. I told them the restaurant had told me already they wouldn't allow food from outside, & my boss, as well as the others, told me if...
  16. I agree that the test was really boring; I sat around in a cold room with another patient while an older doctor came & went with his little hydrogen breathalyzer device. Turns out the other lady patient has a son with Crohn's disease though & we talked about food intolerances awhile, so that was interesting. My test turned out negative, so he...
  17. Thanks again for all of the great replies! Tomorrow will be the day when my staff all go out to lunch together at the Chinese place. Today one of my coworkers asked if I'm bringing my own food; I told her I probably would sneak some in, & that the restaurant told me it wouldn't be allowed (if they know about it). She was aghast that the restaurant...
  18. I took the "quick lyme" test online & answered "yes" to 14 of the questions; but I'm confused, because while I did have several tick bites as a child (the last one was probably in the late 1970s/early 80s), I never had a rash or anything like that indicative of lyme. It seems that many of the symptoms on the lyme test could be caused by so many other...
  19. Maybe he has another food intolerance too, like dairy or soy. Those can certainly cause upset digestive systems too.
  20. My skin does the exact same thing, whether the band aids are latex-free or not. I don't think it would be gluten, because I'm sure not eating them! I think some people are just sensitive to the adhesives they use, which cause some type of contact dermatitis. I use paper tape whenever possible (like after a lab draw) to avoid this problem.
  21. Here's their ingredient list: Ingredients MILLED CORN, RICE, BROWN SUGAR, SALT, MALT FLAVORING, BAKING SODA, ASCORBIC ACID (VITAMIN C), IRON, NIACINAMIDE, TURMERIC COLOR, ZINC OXIDE, PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE (VITAMIN B6), RIBOFLAVIN (VITAMIN B2), THIAMIN HYDROCHLORIDE (VITAMIN B1), VITAMIN A PALMITATE, FOLIC ACID, VITAMIN B12 AND VITAMIN D. Allergen...
  22. So glad you had such an enjoyable breakfast this morning, Judy! I hope to eventually be able to eat out so successfully & confidently as it sounds like you do. There is one employee at Chipotle's who remembers me, & as soon as I order she goes & gets a bunch of fresh gloves, then walks down the line of workers & tells them all to change...
  23. I love the Enjoy Life chocolate chips: Open Original Shared Link They are gluten-free, CF, SF, etc (no allergens), they melt beautifully, & taste delicious. I get them at Whole Foods market (you can order online too). Good luck with your son's testing; keep us posted on what they find out. Does he have an IEP (individual education plan) in place...
  24. I use one of Whole Food's store-brand lip balms (I think it's vanilla) & really like it. No troublesome ingredients in it, & it's all natural. I use it on my 4 year-old too (she feels like a "big girl" when she gets to use mommy's lip balm!)
  25. I got a response back from my doctor about my request for further thyroid testing. Here's what he said: Your last thryoid tests (TSH and FT4) were right in the normal range 2 months ago. The levels are where we generally want them to be. In terms of checking for for anti - TPA we can do this however even if you had positive antibodies I would not recommend...
