    ARCHIVED My Rant

  3. Hi Walter: I feel for you and wish I had some sort of magic wand to make your problems go away. I don't know anything about the suggestion previously made about an acupuncture technique but I am currently seeing an acupuncturist and have a confidence in him which I have never had in any medical doctor. I am relatively new to this group but have also found...
  4. I have not had any grains of any kind and only baked the gluten-free bread once maybe two months ago. I guess this is just going to take tincture of time and continued watching carefully. Thanks
  5. Thanks. I feel better just knowing I am not alone in this. Do you think a biopsy of the lesion is necessary. I have been diagnosed by blood test and would prefer not but my husband seems to think I need to get a second opinion. I am fine with all of this - he is in denial. Hope I am doing this right, I have tried to reply before and it has never worked...
  6. For many years I had an itchy lesion on my buttock in the same place which would disappear after about a week. It recurred 1-3 times a year for many years. In about March of this year I developed a rash on a knee and elbow and after much study through the internet, I learned the connection between the rashes and all of the abdominal symptoms I had for...
  7. Julie: I live in Durham, am 68 and was diagnosed by blood test under 4 months ago. I was referred to a nutritionist and my doctor did anything I asked of her as regards further blood testing etc. But--I just don't think she knows much about celiac - maybe just textbook stuff. At the urging of a neighbor I went to an acupuncturist doctor here in Durham...
  8. My abdominal symptoms were of such a changing nature I didn't know how to explain them so I just tried self diagnosis most of the time. I had occasional diarrhea, occasional constipation, ocasional bloating, rare cramping-like pain in the left side but always felt tired with no energy. I had major eye surgery in June of 06 and explained my lack of energy...
  9. Where does your husband stand in this situation? I think he should be the one to stand up to his mother for you and explain your situation and let her know he is fully supportive of your request. I agree that if you let this one get by, you are in for many problems through the years. Good luck. G
  10. Hi Susan: I live in Durham and was diagnosed 3 months ago tomorrow. Would love to communicate. I am an active senior citizen and this has really put a damper on my outdoor activities. Don't really know how to begin communications as I am just barely computer literate and am working my way through. As frustrated as I feel sometimes regards celiac, this...

    ARCHIVED Naturopath/homeopath

I have started seeing an acupuncturist and am very pleased. He, too, is expensive and my insurance does not cover it. I plan to continue as long as I can but I am also interested in homeopathy. My MD is good but does not know enough about celiac. Hope you do well. G
  12. I was diagnosed 3 months ago with celiac disease confirmed by blood test. My primae is a good doctor but admittedly doesn

    ARCHIVED Doctor In Raleigh/cary, Nc

Hi Dana: I live in Durham, am 68 years old and was diagnosed 3 months ago with celiac. I diagnosed myself by reading on the internet. I suggested a blood test to my doctor who felt that because I am somewhat obese, there was no way I could have celiac but agreed to a blood test. She called me two weeks later and was shocked the test had come back positive...

  16. That recipe sounds absolutely delicious and I will certainly try it. Thanks. G
  17. I was diagnosed on 4/25/07 and am doing reasonably well but I so miss the quick-type meals such as a PB&J sandwich or even Spam sandwich. I never really have considered myself a bread eater but I do miss what you might call using bread as a vehicle for other things. Tomato vines in back yard are loaded and the thought of not having a fresh BLT bothers...
  18. Hi Leah. I am from Durham, was diagnosed in late April of this year and would love to be able to vocally communicate with someone in the area. While I do type well, I am not what you can call computer literate and am not sure I can get back to this site. I also do not know where to go from here, email, phone number, whatever. If you know how to get...
