ARCHIVED Doc Says More Protein...
bakinghomesteader replied to bakinghomesteader's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So far I have squeezed in 55 g! I still have that deer to eat tonight. I have been eating something every 2 hours and after 2 hours rolls around, I'M STARVING! Maybe that will subside. After just doing this today tho, I can tell a difference in my energy. I actually have some today. ps. the only reason I got the 55 right now is that... -
ARCHIVED Doc Says More Protein...
bakinghomesteader replied to bakinghomesteader's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You all are giving me suggestions I haven't even thought of. Thanks!! I really wouldn't be able to do this without you all. My nutritionist didn't even tell me anything. Thanks so much! -
ARCHIVED Doc Says More Protein...
bakinghomesteader replied to bakinghomesteader's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions. I will have to try them. My husband came home today and said he was afraid I was going to die. He said I really need to try and eat what you all are saying. I will. I want to. My body is taking my muscles for protein. With the celiac and all, I just never thought it would be stealing from my muscles... -
ARCHIVED Doc Says More Protein...
bakinghomesteader replied to bakinghomesteader's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I guess it seems hard. lol. I seem to not eat very much despite being very hungry. I am thankful for the food suggestions. I just can't seem to think anymore. I just feel so bad right now. I really don't like eggs, except deviled. What is hummus and what do you do with it? Thanks -
My doctor wants me to try to get 90 grams of protein a day. I counted it up and I am getting 25-30 a day. I just don't think I can get that much. I have a protein shake that is 17 grams. Maybe that will help. My left leg is wasting away and we didn't know why. I guess my body is stealing protein from my muscles. That would explain my extreme fatigue...

ARCHIVED Blood Test And No Endoscopy?
bakinghomesteader replied to hilwacat's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had positive blood work and with the positive diet response and the positive ttg from enterolab, my doctor gave me the diagnosis without endo. I said, with positive blood work, I really don't want to have to go through an endo. We agreed that the end results would be a gluten free diet anyway. So no endo. -
ARCHIVED Domata Flour
bakinghomesteader replied to bakinghomesteader's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm not really sure. lol. I do know that it is superfine. Also, it is an all inclusive blend that you use cup for cup. I am not sure of the blend measurements, but I tell ya, it's wonderful. I wondered too, because I use those flours before with xanthan gum, but it still came out crumbly or hard, etc. This is different. I just am very happy with it... -
ARCHIVED Your Personal Celiac/gluten Intolerance Story
bakinghomesteader replied to emcmaster's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well, here's my story. As a child I always had problems "going" My belly stuck out and I was stick thin. My mom just said it was because I was so skinny that my intestines were bulging out. Don't ask me. That is how it was until I had my son. After I had him, my neurological system went haywire. I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis soon after... -
I ordered some of this in hopes of better baking. I LOVE IT! I made a pizza tonight with the recipe that was on the bag and it came out better than my gluten pizza used to. My husband said, "I think I can get used to this gluten free thing." It was wonderful. I am going to make some cookies tomorrow and see how that goes. I am very pleased with this...

ARCHIVED Legs Like Jelly
bakinghomesteader replied to Krystens mummy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I get that way often. BUT, I have myasthenia gravis which is a neuromuscular autoimmune disease. You may want to get checked for that. It can be very dangerous (trouble swallowing, breathing, droopy eyes, weak neck, arms, legs, voice, etc) STephanie -
ARCHIVED It's Official
bakinghomesteader replied to bakinghomesteader's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thank you all for your posts! Fedora, I am not offended I was able to go to an Amish community and a store there carries an all purpose everything included flour. No having to buy everything separate will save me some money. I am glad for this. Trying to not get glutened is hard. I get confused with some labels for stuff like bbq sauce. I have... -
ARCHIVED Anybody Gone Back On Gluten For Biopsy?
bakinghomesteader replied to scottyfeelsick's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I stopped all the way Saturday. I feel a little better, but I am still tired and bloated. Since I am not absorbing nutrients very well, I guess that's why, plus I'm a little depressed that now I know. I really have to be careful. But, I'm a little happy too now that I know positively. It's just that I don't have any money for the superfine rice flour... -
ARCHIVED It's Official
bakinghomesteader replied to bakinghomesteader's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
No, I did not get a gene test done. Just a ttg from them. Don't beat my husband up too much. He just wanted to be sure and for me not to have to burden myself if I didn't have too. He thought it was something else and not gluten. He thought maybe I had an ulcer or gallbladder probs. I had that tested too and they were negative. She did say that my... -
ARCHIVED Anybody Gone Back On Gluten For Biopsy?
bakinghomesteader replied to scottyfeelsick's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I did a gluten challange for about 6 weeks. My husband wanted to know for sure, and so did I. At first, it was ok. I ate it with no problems. But, after about 3-4 weeks the symptoms came back. This time there was a new one, dizziness. My bloodwork came back postive. I am just recently gluten free again, but the symptoms were more intense this time... -
ARCHIVED It's Official
bakinghomesteader posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well, my husband wanted a firm diagnosis to justify not eating gluten. He didn't want me to not eat it if I didn't have to. So he wanted me to get bloodwork done. I had to eat gluten for a little over a month and I was so sick. I had it drawn and stopped eating it again after getting really sick. (dizzy, diarrhea, nausea) I went to the doc today... -

bakinghomesteader replied to bakinghomesteader's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Well, guys, I got it. It's funny you should say something about the Health Valley soups. I just discovered them at Krogers and am so excited now. I am using a copy cat recipe for the Cracker Barrel Hashbrown casserole. Yeah. Thanks all! -

ARCHIVED Enterolab Results
bakinghomesteader posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well, I just got my results back today. They were positive. I had the ttg done. Now I feel like I actually belong here. I had been gluten free for 2 months when I had the test. Btw, my arthritis pain has gone away mostly. I still have pain in my knee at times. But my hands are better. Yeah! Go Gluten Free! It has helped me tremendously. I hate... -
ARCHIVED Negative Enterolab Test
bakinghomesteader replied to Sally's Mommy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That is so weird! I was just going to post that question. "Has anyone ever gotten a negative result from Enterolab" I just got mine back today, they were positive. Just confirmed what I thought. Now my husband will be even more supportive. -
ARCHIVED This Is What I Think Happened
bakinghomesteader posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think i got glutened the other day. Boy oh boy. My stomach hurt so bad. Not like I was going to have diarrhea or a stomach ache, but pain in my upper quadrant. I was doubled over, etc. It also hurt my stomach to walk. This lasted for 3 to 4 days. Sheesh. We went out to eat at Cracker Barrel because we were on the road for a trip and I order what... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab--if You Had To Choose A Test, Which One
bakinghomesteader replied to bakinghomesteader's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That's just it. I want to do this because I am not sure. I have eliminated dairy and my previous symptoms are coming back. Bloating, constipation, irritability etc. I want to know if this is my problem so I am not eating gluten-free in vain. I feel the way I did before going gluten-free and I haven't changed anything. So I would like to know through...
