  3. Most "curl enhancing" shampoos, conditioners and styling product contain wheat protein -- apparently it's the active ingredient that makes the hair curlier.

  5. I think it was yer basic Celiac blood panel. I went to see him re increased migraines (and trouble with syntax when tired or stressed). When I told him I have a wheat allergy, he asked me if celiac disease had been ruled out and I said no.   6. T'ain't cheap, but the King Arthur Flour people sell a soymilk making machine which can also be used for nut milks. I'm not sure if you can make ricemilk with it. Perhaps if one can "roll their own" the additives that cause problems could be avoided. It's called the Soybella Soymilk Maker.
  7. I agree about the icecream/sorbet machines. I don't have a problem with milk so I make both in mine --- tastes better than Breyer's/Edy's French Vanilla and has only three ingredients: milk, cream and sugar. If I want a different flavour, I add a fruit to which I don't have an allergy or to which I don't have an OAS response. As for baking, I make scones...

I'm not officially a Celiac yet (waiting for lab results), but I have Obstructive Sleep Apnea which means that very likely I'm going to spend the rest of my sleeping life hooked up to 6 feet of plastic hose and a CPAP machine. I went through a grief process after my diagnosis, even tho' I knew that the treatment for the apnea was working and working well...
  9. It's Fall -- I know because the radiators came on this evening. Last week it was something like 87 degrees F., tonight it's more like 47.

I have a deviated septum and my doc says my nose is pretty much just decorative -- he said I could get a sort of internal Breathe-Right strip which would keep it open -- less drastic than a nose job and that it would help. At the time, my insurance wouldn't cover it, so I didn't go for it, but boy, if I get insurance that will, I'll do it.
  11. I have food, environmental and seasonal allergies, am waiting for test results for gluten intolerance, and get OAS frequently. My allergist said the easiest way to deal with it is not to eat fruits when they are in season and cheap.   12. The Wild Oats grocery stores (Hinsdale, Evanston) are very gluten-free proactive and hold seminars and classes and mark all their gluten-free products well.   13. I've known for over a year that I was allergic to wheat and rice, and except for falling off the wagon occasionally, have been pretty good about not eating either.
