  1. can anyone recommend energy bars that are completely free of dairy & gluten (soy would be nice too) thanks
  2. I never had any type of physical reaction from eggs, but my blood allergy test revealed that I was severely allergic right around the time I discovered i had gluten problems. My blood IgG antibodies to egg whites & egg yolks were severe , however my SIgA to albumin was negative. I havent had eggs in 2 years and now that im gluten-free is it safe...
  3. Nah- im taking S. Boulardii now for c.difficile...its my understanding that the s.boulardii does not colonize in the GI so therefore its impossible to have overgrowth from that yeast
  4. So im on what seems like an anti-candida regimen only I dont have candida. However, whatever showed up on my stool test is definitely a yeast/fungus and is sensitive to the botanicals and antifungals that eliminate candida. so my question is what other types of yeasts can colonize in the GI tract and are they more or less invasive than candida?
  5. Maybe so...but thats one thing I will never do...bring my own food to a restaurant. Id rather not eat at all and that's usually what I do when i go out and people are eating . im just not gonna be that person who does that
  6. Which stores carry them? thx
  7. I mean unless i never ever eat outside my house is there anyway I will be able to heal my damage 100%? the chance of getting glutened is always high no matter how careful you are -- i hear stories about people healing and being able to tolerate other foods again, but are these folks the ones who never eat out or bring their own food to places? I work in...
  8. Well Im on the candida diet so im pretty much limiting my carbs anyway- what exactly is the SCD? just avoiding starches, breads, pastas, etc? right now its rice cakes, brown rice and quinoa for me in limited amounts with an occasional sweet potatoe. my BIGGEST problem is maintaining my weight...im already underweight and now im loosing even more. so i...
  9. I just had mine a few months ago and it showed that I was a +3 for yeast/fungi but the taxonomy was unknown. my doc has me on an anti-candida regimen but is it possible i dont actually have candida and that im wasting my time? id be curious to hear input from folks who had this test thanks a bunch! jason
  10. I know there are some great MD's out there, but Ive had so many negative experiences and have become very jaded towards the medical profession.
  11. Dont know - I guess anything is possible. I'm 35 and am planning to go for a colonoscopy this year - a little young but i figure it couldnt hurt, plus my great grandmother & grandmother had colon cancer...maybe even celiac related. Seems like the constipation has something to do with water absorption or re-absorption cause the initial part of all my...
  12. Thanks- Fiber doesnt seem to help my Constipation...its more a bowel motility/spasm issue. Fiber just bloats me up and makes me uncomfortable. The giardia was in 02; however my recent stool test showed another parasite but I was put on a drug for a few days to treat that. now just focusing on candida & c.difficle overgrowth. I started taking...
  13. Well medical science doesn't have all the answers unfortunately. Years ago MDs laughed at probiotics and now they are recommending them to their patients (the more knowledgeable & open docs anyway) so im sure someday the candida thing will float into the mainstream as well...to me it makes sense and everything else has failed, so I have to go with this...
  14. I mean I was concerned about taking them just for the test
  15. if i eliminate this alleged candida problem will all my sensitivities and constipation disappear? maybe not the gluten and thats fine, but will i get any type of relief or am i just wasting my time?
  16. Avoiding just gluten for the rest of my life wouldnt be that big of a deal...but I also have to avoid all dairy, eggs and soy as well...not to mention other foods that give me problems. why does it seem like im the only person on the planet that has to be so restricted? I'm currently focusing on my candida so is there a chance that someday I will be able...
  17. my doc wants me to do a heavy metal screen but im concerned about potential adverse reactions to the chelating agents...i have to take DMSA and lipoic acid. can these compounds cause any strange or harmful side effects? thx
  18. I know you're anxious but please calm down- the stress will kill u before the gluten at the rate you're going. What will be will be..just take deep breaths
  19. I'm in the same dilemma...I dont know what triggered my gluten sensitivity..it was either intestinal trauma, candida, leaky gut or antibiotics. I tested high for yeast and am on a regimen now to treat it, but I'm pretty clueless about the whole thing. Sorry..dont have much advice to offer but I know what you're going thru Did you get the celiac genetic...
  20. Wish I could but for a person who always used to love food and activities surrounding food its hard to do other things & put it out of my mind. to be honest i dont even enjoy doing many activities now because the food issue is always there and prevents me from enjoying my life. The bottom line is EVERYTHING revolves around food in one way or another
  21. No its cool- good info! Its just especially difficult for me because not only do i have to avoid gluten, but I cant eat dairy either...also tested positive for soy & egg allergies and im sure im positive for corn since thats all ive been eating since going gluten-free. Im also on an anti-candida regimen now and trying to address that issue, which...
  22. So my only option for dinner tonite was good ol PF Changs since i didnt have time to research restaurants in advance. Anyway I get there and order the steamed salmon with brown rice off the gluten-free menu- after a 25 min wait I get a piece of salmon drenched in soy sauce and the waiter couldnt confirm that it was gluten-free soy sauce, so i sent it back...
  23. Had to travel to Miami for business. Arrived at 830 and was starving cause I had not eaten since 3pm. I drove around a bit and found a high end gourmet chinese restaurant...since i am on an anti candida diet and also avoiding gluten i figure i might just be able to get some chicken with steamed vegetables...the place was way too fancy and everything on...
  24. Ok but still...what do i do about the constipation? Again These probiotics are essential for my recovery but they back me up pretty badly. Even if I take natural calm at the same time I dont have good BM's. If i take oxypowder then i'm fine, but i really dont know if its safe to take long term
  25. Hi Sue- Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure that constipation is not a symptom of C.Difficle...usually its profuse watery diarrhea, so it may be more of a candida issue. My doc has me on S. Boulardi to treat the C.difficile overgrowth for now. My fear of taking an antibiotic is that it will mess things up even more and allow the candida to proliferate...
