ARCHIVED About Checking Medications...
FootballFanatic posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
When first diagnosed I knew I needed to check my medications so I called the pharmacist and she looked at all of them and even had to check on one ingredient that was in all of them but she didn't know what it was. But she checked it and told me they were all fine. In a matter of 3 days in the past week (3 months later) I find out that at least 2 of them... -
ARCHIVED Glutened... But No Idea How And When?
FootballFanatic replied to shimo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm going to have to half-disagree with what wowzer said. Don't call your pharamacist, sure, some may go out of their way to call the manufacturer, but I called my pharmacist who said everything I was taking was gluten free, I have found out in the past week that 2 of those drugs are for sure not gluten free but only from calling the manufacturer. I am... -
ARCHIVED Top Three Suggestions For A New Gluten Free Girl?
FootballFanatic replied to aeshlea's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Buy a crockpot Buy a George Forman Grill (Or something comparable) Buy STAINLESS STEEL pots/pans - (I just had a scare because I used a gluten containing sponge to wash it and didn't know if I could safely use it again) If you're not in a glutenfree household, I hope you can block off a part of your kitchen strictly for gluten free preparation and... -
ARCHIVED Girl Scout Cookie Sales
FootballFanatic replied to CtheCeliac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know how you feel, everytime I see anything like a vending machine, or a consession stands or anything that doesn't consider the people with Celiac disease I feel resentment. I also recognize that it is so unknown and I try to look forward to the future when more people know about it and gluten-free can become mainstream. 3 months before I became sick... -
ARCHIVED I May Be Overprotecting Myself But..
FootballFanatic replied to FootballFanatic's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well I told my mom about it and she wanted me to always be comfortable so we went out and bought a stainless steel set. I'll go grab some dish towels now because that sounds like a good idea. I've always seen sponges as just little germ holders but I continue to wash my dishes with them. -

ARCHIVED Xanax Contains Gluten
FootballFanatic replied to ENF's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know of a generic that is gluten free. I just had to switch my birth control pills, because I noticed that they weren't on the gluten free list but I called the generics and one of the generics is gluten free... I have written down the numbers to call on Monday, but it's the weekend and I take it 4xday. -

ARCHIVED Xanax Contains Gluten
FootballFanatic replied to ENF's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Inactive ingredients: Cellulose, corn starch, docusate sodium, lactose, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide and sodium benzoate. In addition, the 0.5 mg tablet contains FD&C Yellow No. 6 and the 1 mg tablet contains FD&C Blue No. 2. Which of those is glutenous? -
ARCHIVED Foods To Be Avoided?
FootballFanatic replied to mandigirl1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am angry about this too, my mom just bought me a bunch of bars (Called ReBars) and she totally stocked me up with them because they say gluten-free, but in small print they say may contain traces of wheat (among other things) so I was really upset to tell her that she couldn't buy me anymore. Fortunately my non-celiac boyfriend likes them so he's been eating... -

I washed one of my pots that I cook rice in with my family's sponge(used for gluteny things)...(This is the second pot I've done it too) If I really wash it out well, I've been putting in soap and running hot water into it until it runs clear, then if I scrub it with a gluten free sponge will it be okay to cook in again? I'm really not sure how sensitively... -
ARCHIVED I Need A Gluten Free Raw Chicken...
FootballFanatic posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know which brands of raw chicken are gluten free? I've been using hormel sliced chicken that is found in the lunch meats, but it's getting too expensive since I'm eating so much, so I'm just going to bake my own and slice it up and freeze it. Thanks -
ARCHIVED Glutenous Rice
FootballFanatic replied to up-late's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There are ingredients called "rice gluten" and "corn gluten" and they are safe since they come from corn and rice. I was confused the first time I saw that. -
ARCHIVED Oh No....
FootballFanatic replied to FootballFanatic's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The Quasense representative did say there were "no starches" in it, but could not guarantee no gluten. I'm just going to switch to the Gluten Free generic, even though my insurance wont cover it until December since I just bought the pack a couple weeks ago... -
ARCHIVED Oh No....

Called the manufacturers of Quasense.... They can not guarantee that it is gluten-free because they are not a gluten free company and don't test for gluten. -
ARCHIVED Campbells Soup?
FootballFanatic replied to rachellek's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There is a topic here where the Campbell's gluten free list is posted. I don't think that the soup you ate is on it... Call them up and they will mail you the list! -
ARCHIVED Oh No....
FootballFanatic posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I will be able to call tomorrow, but I usually take them at night. Does anyone know about Seasonale? I take the generic (quasense). I haven't felt better yet and I don't know what to do. If I don't hear back I guess I will skip it tonight. I am taking it to help with cramping, so I really don't want to go off it..... -
ARCHIVED My Boyfriend A Celiac?
FootballFanatic replied to amoobaa's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It sounds very much like celiac disease, but you are on the right track ordering the tests! Best of luck, has he been to a gastroenterologist. There are medicines that they can give him for all his intestinal problems. I have one for nausea, one for intestinal spasms, one for anxiety, and one to help me digest food better (it is similar to Motilium which... -
ARCHIVED Have I Been Glutened Or Are They Gallstones?
FootballFanatic replied to Amelia01's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
A HIDA scan is a really accurate test to see how your gallbladder is functioning. Talk to your doctor about that. I was CONVINCED my gallbladder was my problem....but I had the scan and I found out it was functioning above average. -
ARCHIVED When Does It Ever End?
FootballFanatic replied to Sarah8793's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
About soy: Does soy show up on ingredient lists under any other names. You know how hard it is to memorize everything that "gluten" entails.... If you are eliminating soy, do you have to look for anything besides "soy"? I eliminated the soy milk but haven't been looking at other foods for soy.... Haven't had the energy...
