  1. If we weren't all crazy we'd all go insane.
  2. I made an appointment with a dietitian and it was going to be a month away, so she told me "just stick with food staples like chicken and fish, but make sure it's not breaded!" Great advice, since breaded chicken is the only source of gluten...... I cancelled my appointment with her....
  3. Yeah I've heard that many ceasar dressings are scary.... Be overprotective of yourself while you still figure out the ropes. If you don't know the ingredients I wouldn't eat it.
  4. Everytime someone brings this up I think of that old joke.. Patient: "Doctor it hurts when I do this." Doctor: "Don't do that..." Who needs test results, if you realize that banging your head against the wall gives you a headache, you don't bang your head against the wall anymore, so apply that to your diet and if you response well to the change...
  5. Novopharm told me on the phone that it is gluten free. Along with Mylan. Actavis does not test, so they can't guarantee. I found the Mylan at my Walmart pharmacy but the other pharmacies in my town used Actavis and Greenstone
  6. Okay, coming from someone who had a false negative on my biopsy and bloodtest, if they are going to make you get the test, I would recommend the enterolab test. They have lots of information on why you don't have to be on a gluten-consuming diet for it to come back positive, so show that to your mom and your doctor. Sure, opinions differ, but the doctor...
  7. I agree Raven, those little mini wheats would not help any child in school that's allergic to him. I find the hardest to be the pizza delivery commercials...because not only do they look so good but it would be so convenient to just pick up the phone and have dinner in 20 minutes. I guess it's keeping me skinny!
  8. THERE IS YOUR ANSWER. Just keep laughing. Anything you can do that keeps you laughing will keep up the mood. Laughter is the best medicine. Keep riding it out!
  9. I'd see if you can't find something gluten free, just to be safe, think of how many times you touch your hands to your face in a day! Neutrogena has a very very extensive list of gluten free products and I find that they are very high quality products! You can find the most recently updated list by searching the forums for something like "Neutrogena ...
  10. I got an email from my mom today just saying that she was proud of me and then I was just thinking how I am proud of all of us living on this gluten free diet. It's SO HARD to get used to and while it may get "easier", I don't think it gets "easy" for most. Just a big high five to everyone out there making the sacrifice everyday whatever stage you are...
  11. I very much believe that it has got to be between you and the family. The advice here is great, but I think it's just something you need to discuss with your DH and maybe include your kids. It's something that has to be really okay with everyone, it's a big big change. You've been forced into it, and that kind of makes it easier for you, but I would just...
  12. The last paper towel on the roll is attatched with a glue. I heard that most cigarettes have gluten from the glue and I was about to use the last paper towel, and thought.....I wonder if that glue contains a form of gluten. I know I'm weird but maybe it's something we should think about before you wipe your hands or plates or hold your food with it...
  13. I'm sorry because I don't know exactly where to post this soooo, feel free to move it around. Okay, anyone know of any celebrities with Celiac Disease? The only thing I've heard is that Bill Clinton has it but wouldn't announce it publically because wheat is so cheap to produce that he didn't want to hurt the economy by people getting tested and then...
  14. You might not call this a natural remedy but I heard that ibuprofen is the best painkiller for cramps and can have an antidiarrheal effect. That's the closest thing to natural I can think of, but I naturally take pills all the time. :-/
  15. Novopharm alprazolam IS gluten free. Actavis can not guarantee their alprazolam because they do not test.
  16. So I know there are companies that will "clearly list all gluten" (Like Kraft for example) and I'm just wondering does that mean it will say "Wheat" "Barley" "Rye" etc.... or does it mean it will list the things on that ridiculously long list?
  17. Thanks for the advice. They were pretzel sticks so I will probably just use the bag to put them into my mouth...if you can picture that one Hahaha
  18. Not eating a lot of soy, only things that might be in my medications, or the gluten free pretzels and cookies and cereals? I don't think the cereal have soy... Anyway, I just really can't afford to give those up right now, I am away from my house for too long in the day.
  19. Yeah I wanted to do that but I was in a huge lecture hall sooo, didn't want to call too much attention to myself.
  20. I was thinking of eliminating soy but I just don't have enough energy for that right now. My life is so GO GO GO that I don't have the time to even consider it.
  21. So I know that I haven't consumed a source of gluten but I still feel like I've had some minor contaminations. (Hard to tell because I suffer from panic attacks and the symptoms can be very similar). Today I was away from the house and hungry so I purelled my hands and then ate some gluten-free pretzels. Halfway through I realized the purell probably doesn...
  22. So I have been gluten free for 3 months tomorrow, and I got really dizzy about 2 months into it, had my blood tested, had my hearing tested, (didn't have the vertigo test because I was too stressed out for it...I am sick of testing and my dizziness doesn't seem to be when I turn my head the wrong way). Anyway, the blood work looked normal except my HDL...
  23. I think the reason for so many rants is because of the time it takes for the mindset to change from "this sucks/this is horrible" to "okay, it's got it's positives" and we have new members everyday, people at all different emotional levels. I agree with your post, but I don't think the "Celiac sucks" posts will ever go away because more and more people will...
  24. My boyfriend eats mostly gluten free, but like your husband, he has the occaisional gluten meal. I saved my old dishes for him to use, and bought a new set of 4 that is strictly gluten free. If I'm just having a snack (that's usually how much lunch goes) I just eat off a paper plate/plastic bowl so that I'm not always using my dishes (there are only 4 of...
