  1. Ok, this has happened a lot to me too. But it wasn't hemmorhoids. I have a fissure caused by (wait for it...) a tight ass! I couldn't believe that was an actual medical problem! Seriously, I have a "tense sphincter" which causes fissures (rips in the tissue) which leads to bleeding. When my doctor told me I said "Are you serious? The medical condition...
  2. I'm going to an allergist in January (for non-gluten related reasons) and they do a skin test. My last info is old (from 1996) but this is what I understand. A skin test does NOT test for the correct IG antibody for a gluten allergy. They need to do a blood test to test for the correct antibody. Could someone explain to me why it does not so I can explain...
  3. The issue could be, what kind of allergy test did you have? A skin test will NOT be able to detect many food allergies. The skin test simply does not test for the correct antibodies. You need to get a blood test to test for food allergies. If your allergist says a skin test will find your food allergies just fine, fire him, and get a younger doctor who...
  4. Mouth sores are often caused by a herpes virus (no, not "that one"). There are many herpes viruses. Anyway I hear taking lysine supplements helps a lot.
  5. You can only claim the DIFFERENCE between the cost of a regular item, and the gluten-free item. So if a loaf of regular bread is $2, and a loaf of gluten-free bread is $6, you can claim $4 on your taxes. However, medical expenses can only be claimed IF they are more than 2% of your AGI. In all my years I have never had more than 2% of AGI in medical expenses...
  6. Yes I hate those commercials. But again, they can't make money if they cure the illness, only if they treat the symptoms. And they are only treating the symptoms so they can have a steady income stream. Same goes for that IBS drug. I don't think IBS is an illness, I think it is a symptom of another illness, like a food allergy. I also think some cases...
  7. Hi, Looking for support groups in Kent County. Also looking for gluten-free restaurants and gluten-free stores. I already know Meijer carries lots of "dry" products, but they have no gluten-free frozen pizzas. And the healthfood store (forget the name, one in Cascade, one at Burton and Eastern) is not real close to work or home. I really miss pizza...
  8. First, I do have an Irish background. I traced much of my family tree. Did I mention I had asthma since I was born? That's another autoimmune disease. Look at this: my parents said I was a very colicky baby and I do remember having bad stomach pains as a baby (age less than 12 months) and they said nothing would help me sleep except a ride in the...
  9. The flu shots contain a MERCURY COMPOUND, which is not toxic, as opposed to elemental mercury, which is very toxic. Even the vapors from elemental mercury are toxic. Good ideas, but you are unable to avoid the sick people that go to work, and cough into the same air you breathe.
  10. I got to talking to an Internal Medicine dr about my gluten allergy and asked him what he thought the incidence of this was in our area. He said "oh, it's usually all in their head." But over the years I have found out that most doctors are good for nothing more than treating bronchitis or a kid's broken arm. It took me 9 years of relying on doctors for...
  11. Hi, I was just wondering, I haven't bought frozen foods via mail before. Do they thaw before they get to you? How does this work? I'd like to get some gluten-free pizza shells or pizzas.
  12. Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is not gluten, however many people are still allergic to it. Symptoms of MSG sensitivity include headache, or a general feeling of stomach upset.
