  1. If you call the toll-free number on the package, Frito-Lay will send you a detailed list of their gluten-free products. In fact, they sent me a coupon, too. Dianne
  2. I don't know if you have a Trader Joe's near you. (You can check their website for locations.) They have a list of their gluten-free products. They carry gluten-free bologna and turkey slices. Also, they have pre-packaged salads. (You can easily remove the non gluten-free items.) I hope this is helpful. Dianne
  3. There is a Detroit area support group. It's the Tri-County Celiac Support Group. They meet once a month, on Mondays, in Farmington Hills. Their website is Open Original Shared Link. Dianne
  4. I'm from the Detroit area. I've ordered from Celiac Specialties before. The brownies and chocolate cookies are awesome. They were recently featured on the local news. In the fall, they're going to start offering some sugar-free items. Dianne

    ARCHIVED Buddy's Pizza

I just received an e-mail from my contact at the Tri-County Celiac Support Group. The Farmington Hills (MI) location of Buddy's Pizza will be carrying gluten-free pizza, and the others will be up and running soon. Good news for Detroit-area pizza lovers! Dianne
  6. Yankee, Just wanted to put my two cents in. Did you know there are meals, which come in a resealable pouch, which only need boiling water to be added? I get them online, through Gluten Solutions. They have them listed under the brand, Gluten Free Cafe. Happy traveling! Dianne
  7. I found a source of more expensive, gluten-free mustards. They're called Mother's Mountain Mustard (Open Original Shared Link). You might want to consider these for a special treat. I hope this information is helpful. Dianne
  8. Thanks for the information. I haven't heard of "Manna from Anna." Is it all kinds of bread products, or just sliced bread?
  9. Are you aware that Enterolab has a website? Open Original Shared Link Another member posted this under one of the other topics. I hope this helps. Dianne
  10. Susan, i can't really contribute anything to the medical aspects of this discussion. However, I just wanted to say, that I believe everyone here just has your welfare in mind. I hope you take the advice with that in mind. Good luck with the future! I'm curious, does your Celiac Center have a website? Dianne
  11. I just saw a new GI because I wasn't happy with the one I had. The first GI never did an endoscopy, or a biopsy. GI number two says that the blood test that the first one did was such a poor test that htey don't even use it anymore. So, he's not sure that I have Celiac's. In my first office visit, he was gave me a more thorough exam than number one ever...
  12. I've found out that there is someone at the Tri-County Celiac Support Group (Detroit area) working with the people at the Farmington Hills (MI) Buddy's to develop a gluten-free pizza. They are going to have a meeting there on July 29th, to get feedback. Wouldn't that be great?! I;ll let you know how this works out. Dianne
  13. After doing a search on Google, I found a website sponsored by the Westchester Celiac Sprue Support Group (Open Original Shared Link). They work with the American Dietetic Association. You can do a search for gluten-free restaurants, according to geographic location. Unfortunately, they seem to have a limited number of entries. At least, they're...

    ARCHIVED Outback

I had sent an e-mail to the Gluten Intolerance Group, regarding the absence of any mention of butter or sour cream on the Outback menu. Here is the response. Both butter and sour cream should be pore, unless it is a low fat version, then it may have something added as an extender, i.e., modified food starch which you would want to know the source. ...

    ARCHIVED Outback

I went to Outback for Father's Day. It was great! I had a salad, prime rib, and baked potato with butter. I only had one problem. I had send the meal back for a clean plate. They accidentally gave me the au jus. and there was some left on the plate. I would also advise caution regarding sour cream. I didn't see any mention of it on the menu. I have...

  18. Lindsey, Gluten Free Pantry has items which are lactose-free, in addition to gluten-free. You could get some gluten-free/LF mayonnaise, and make egg salad. Also, there are some shelf-stable microwave entrees (MY Own Meals), which are lactose free. I suggest you go to the Gluten Free Pantry website Open Original Shared Link, and get a catalog. You can...
  19. Yankeefan, I don't cook much either. Do you have a Trader Joe's near you? You can check their website for locations. They have a list of gluten-free foods available at their stores, and on their website. There are some frozen rice bowls, which you can heat in the microwave. Also, some boxed meals by Tasty Bite, which you can easily heat up in the...

  22. I live near Royal Oak, which is a suburb north of Detroit. In Troy, there is a Whole Foods market, and a Good Food Company. There is a Trader Joe's on Woodward, at Catalpa (11 1/2 Mile). As for dining out, there is Wood-Ruff's Supper Club, which has a separate gluten-free menu. Also, there is an Outback in Royal Oak, on Campbell and 14 Mile Road. Why...
  23. Is Waffle House a national chain? Do they have a website, with their locations? I live near Detroit, Michigan, and I haven't heard of them before.
  24. In my membership packet from the Detroit area Tri-County Celiac Support Group, was a copy of a restaurant card. In addition, in the book, "Against the Grain..." by Jax Peters Lowell, she includes restaurant cards, in different languages. This way, you can use the card if you're at a restaurant where the chef doesn't understand English, or if you're travelling...
