  1. Recently when I was in the States (I live in Canada), I noticed that a brand I trust Mary's crackers which says it's gluten free, also had a warning saying that it was prepared in a facility that also prepares products with wheat. This is a big concern for me, when I see Gluten Free on a label I expect it to be totally gluten free. It's hard to know what...
  2. First diagnosed and eating gluten my IgA was 100+ about 6 months later on a strict gluten free diet it was IgA 29 borderline and now a year and a half later without gluten it's 20 which is still borderline. Does this mean my intestines are still being damaged with tiny amounts of gluten contamination, will they be able to heal? What is your experience with...
  3. Sensodyne ProNamel
  4. Bulk bins are definitely best avoided. In one store when the manager asked if I wanted to get the gluten free flour I was buying from the bulk bin, as it was cheaper, I said it could be contaminated. He immediately asked if I have celiac disease and when I said I did, he said that it's best to get the gluten free packaged flour instead.
  5. It's an interesting flour too, very nutritious and I'd love to easily be able to get hold of some!
  6. That's interesting about the percentage that react to oats. I think I just have to be careful and not have them too often or in large amounts. Yes it could be the outer coating on the quinoa that is irritating my stomach, thanks for the advice I'll make sure I rinse it better next time.
  7. That's good that you love the quinoa and can eat it no problem. Yes I'm jealous of those that can eat oats too, I definitely get a bit of a reaction.
  8. There seem to be a lot of myths flying around and it's hard to know what to believe sometimes. Here are some of them: QUINOA My natropath seemed to think quinoa contained some gluten. Actually it seems that quinoa is not even a grain but a seed related to leafy green vegetables like spinach. So it's totally gluten free, it makes me bloated, but maybe that...
  9. Thanks, that's good to know. I called them early on in 2009 and they told me the same info that is in the Quote I pasted. But it's great to hear that ProNamel is now gluten free!
  10. bittykitty - That's really bad, did you complain to Quaker/General Mills? I just heard about one guy who had a bakery and was selling gluten free baked goods and he just got sued as his products tested positive for gluten.
  11. The brand is Metagenics and product is Glutagenics which contains L-glutamine to help heal the gastrointestinal lining. Aloe vera helps to reduce inflammation in the intestines and promotes healing. It can be hard at first, and you might find that you have other intolerance's. A big one for me is nightshades - potatoes, tomoatoes, etc so you may find...
  12. How quickly has your B12 level recovered after being on a gluten-free diet? I didn't expect mine to recover so well and was really amazed that it went up 100 in a year to a normal level. Also I'm now longer anemic but still at the low end of the range. I take a half serving of Vega food supplement powder everyday and it really helped, it's vegan and gluten...
  13. Yes it looks like Sensodyne does have potential contamination but it doesn't contain gluten, this was a reply from them from a few years ago: "Thank you for contacting us regarding Sensodyne
  14. Mey Marie - I have the same problem and it's really hard. Separate cupboards and equipment is best, IE have your own wooden spoons/spatulas, sieve, mixer, toaster, cutting boards, cloths and counter top areas. I've learned the hard way that it's not okay to have regular baking going on in the same area as flour gets in the air and it causes contamination...
  15. Hi - sounds really difficult. Firstly you need a biopsy to confirm celiac disease (I'm amazed that your doctor hasn't recommended it, as your tests indicate celiac disease). If this shows that the villi are really damaged from eating gluten for all those years, then that could also explain why you are having problems with lots of foods. A strict gluten free...
  16. That's interesting, as mine after a year on a gluten-free diet is IgA >29 and I've always been mostly asymptomatic and feeling healthy. It's such a complicated disease and makes me wonder what else is going on. I know doctors that will dismiss patience with a borderline results as not needing to cut out gluten, seems they are very misled.
  17. My IgA was >100 and my doctor said it was the highest he'd seen. I just got tested again, a year later (my idea to make sure it was down and that I'm not getting contamination!) it came out at >29 which is not good, means I'm getting contamination and I thought I was being really strict, must have very low tolerance.
  18. So it's been a year since I stopped eating gluten, my IgA test came up at 100 units when I was first diagnosed. My latest test shows came out at 29 units which shows that I'm still getting contamination. What could it be, and does this amount mean that I'm getting a lot of contamination? My husband bakes with wheat flour and we have a small kitchen, but...
  19. Can anyone tell me how to view a personal message? I clicked on the link in the email notification but it just brings up an error message and there is no where I can see that says personal messages. How can I view them? Thanks if you can help..
  20. Caffeine is best cut out it will just wear out your system even more. Have you tried cutting out nightshades? - it might be worth it just to see if you have an intolerance. A surprisingly large amount of people are intolerant to them and they cause numerous symptoms. Try and keep well hydrated and try some soothing herbal teas. How are your mineral levels...

    ARCHIVED Kissing

That can be a difficult issue and perhaps the best way is to educate him in detail about how gluten effects you. If he just rinsed his mouth and beard and moustache that would probably be okay. My husband is careful now I have to ask that he washes his mouth and rinses before he kisses me. It's all about education, I think people often don't understand...
  22. No I don't eat it as it has a warning that it contains wheat. As far as I understand it's not safe. I take my own gluten-free soy sauce with me when I eat out, you can buy small bottles of Braggs soy sauce which are convenient.
  23. The distillation process gets rid of gluten in spirits. Your reaction could be to the cream, perhaps a lactose sensitivity?
  24. There is no proven safe amount and it seems that the amount people react to varies from person to person. It would be best not to take the risk and try and find an alternative.
