ARCHIVED How Long Does It Take?...
carecare posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So my husband who had went about 6 wks without gluten with great results (fatigue went away, indigestion went away, diarrhea got less). He was still having some diarrhea issues and pin pointed that to being peanuts. When all his worst symptoms...with a pattern started is when he started eating and keeping peanuts on his desk at work. When he went gluten... -
ARCHIVED Gosh, I Think I"m Reacting To Gluten Myself
carecare posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I've had more D this past month than I've had in a long long time. It did start when I started cooking gluten free for my dh and kids. At first I'm sure I went totally gluten free...I was eating what my dh was eating but then I was craving things so while he's at work I started eating the things I"ve always been eating. Then the D started here and there... -
ARCHIVED Lacking Something?
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks everyone. I knew I'd get some answers here. I told him he should probably take some supplements but not sure if he will. He's actually getting the cramping in his feet during the day so not always at night...more during the day actually. He drinks a lot of water, exercises a lot, drinks his milk and ummm...whatelse..LOL. hmmm ...and the... -
My husband has now been gluten free for a little over a month and is feeling so much better. He still has had bouts of D but when that happens it's not as severe as it used to be. His gut hasn't been bothering him (except for yesterday for some reason) one bit either...compared to the years he suffered. He's not fatigued anymore. Anyway, I made a glutenfree...

I really want to know too! We have 4 kids as well and this bread making is getting expensive. There must be a cheaper alternative. I'll be watching for the replies.

ARCHIVED Any gluten-free Restaurants In Madison, Wi?
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Oh man...I didn't get your suggestions before I left. What a bummer! Well, there's always next time. What's funny is we drove by the SillyYakbakery many times going from my BIL's house to the mall. Even when we were leaving and we drove by that bakery we laughed at the name because my husband uses Yak in a lot of his online user names for things.... -
ARCHIVED Any gluten-free Restaurants In Madison, Wi?
carecare posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
The only one that comes up in that search engine thing is Outback Steakhouse. We are going there for the weekend and need a place to eat. We might just end up at Outback again...but wanted to know if anyone knows of any other places we could try around the Madison area. Thanks. -
2 thumbs up for Outback Steakhouse. Everyone there was so welcoming and wanted to do whatever they could to make us happy. I think one of the managers came over to talk to us too and gave us all the names of the people who we could talk to about any concerns we might have about their gluten free foods. She said the chef would also be happy to make an...

We are going to eat at the Outback Steakhouse this week I called to make sure they had the gluten free menu and they were very helpful and assured me they did. We are so looking forward to a nice meal out...it's been months since we went out without the kids! Carecare

LOL..thanks. Now I know the bread wasn't such a disaster. I'll remember that tip about the eggs and warm water...doh..I didn't even think about that. ...and warming in the oven...I did think of that but I had the oven preheating..LOL Hopefully I get the hang of this soon.

I made a loaf of bread yesterday...from a mix. It's from "Life Beyond Wheat"...and was the Multi Grain Sandwich bread. Basically it had all the flour mixture prepared for me and I added the yeast, minegar, eggs, honey, oil and milk. So I've never made bread from scratch before (besides my bread machine stuff). The directions just said to mix all the...

ARCHIVED Having A Tough Time...
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks again for the encouraging posts. If only I could get him to go dairy free as well. He's having so many doubts right now....saying maybe he'll just go back and feel bad physically but be able to feel good mentally because he can eat whatever he wants. I really need to make this household gluten free. I'm just a bit overwhelmed myself. I think... -
ARCHIVED Having A Tough Time...
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks. I needed some keep going vibes. I have 4 kids and have 2 for sure that have possible signs of celiac. In fact my oldest had her appendix out 3 yrs ago and the dr. said the cells that surrounded her appendix were consistant with those who have Celiac disease. So he did a blood test and it was negative. However, my daughter had little gluten... -
ARCHIVED Having A Tough Time...

My husband has gluten free for 2 wks now. His health is improving...but still having some setbacks with the D. However, he has not had one episode of indigestion since the start...which is something for sure as he's battled that for years. He's also has no fatigue which he always thought was just from not getting enough rest. But the D happened the day... -
ARCHIVED Husband 10 Days Gluten Free...feeling Great!
carecare posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We are both amazed at how good he has been feeling. He can't remember the last time he felt so good. 10 days of no indigestion and no fatigue. His D did appear a little yesterday he said but it wasn't as bad as it had been. Christmas day was tough and maybe he ingested some gluten by accident with all the gluten foods sitting around. It was very tough... -
ARCHIVED Anxiety Relief From Going Gluten Free?
carecare posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
So my husband has been gluten free for a week and it's amazing how well he feels...even with a cough he's been struggling with for 2 wks. Can't imagine what he'll feel like when the cold is gone. Anyway, he has always had a bit of anxiety out in public...just never felt good going into crowded places...or being around a ton of people. We went shopping... -
ARCHIVED Nonfood Items...why Worry?
carecare posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My dh recently has started a gluten free diet and is feeling great. I have printed off lists of allowable foods and see there are things such as detergent, makeup, deoderant, shampoos that are gluten free. I told my dh he should avoid these as well and he looked at me like I had a third eye..LOL. He said how can gluten put onto my skin effect my intestines... -
ARCHIVED Enterolabs Questions
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for the info. He's only been gluten free since Monday... and because he feels so good he does not want to go back to gluten. I mentioned that to him the other day...to continue his old food choices and his response was "no way am I going back to feeling awful". He's been antacid free since going gluten free...he has no indigestion, no cramping... -
ARCHIVED Enterolabs Questions
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yeah that is true. I guess sometimes you just want to have some "evidence" that there really is something going on. So they can't tell you if you have celiac but would the panel give you an idea of the likelyhood it's celiac vs just an intolerance? Is a biopsy the only way to absolutely say it's celiac or not. If it's just an intolerance....can people... -
ARCHIVED Enterolabs Questions
carecare posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My dh is possible gluten intolerance and also my two girls. We've all recently just this week come to this realization after doing lots of reading on celiac and gluten intolerance. Once he read about celiac he went gluten free that day (this time...I've mentioned it years ago LOL..something clicked this time). Anyway, he's feeling so much better already... -
ARCHIVED Dh Testing A Gluten Free Diet....
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes, I have read about the connection between joint pain, ADD and celiac. I would loooove for her not have to be on medication. If changing her diet helps her...I'd be spreading the word to everyone! Question....my dh says he doesn't want the kids to go gluten free unless they are tested. He said he read that going gluten free can make symptoms... -
ARCHIVED Dh Testing A Gluten Free Diet....
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks for you input!! I just emailed him and informed him of your remarks about negative blood tests if you have been on a gluten free diet for sometime. I suggested he eat like he normally did prior to Monday...and he emailed back saying "no thanks...I'd rather feel good." So he's definitely seeing an improvement in how he feels overall with just a few... -
ARCHIVED Dh Testing A Gluten Free Diet....
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Would he still possibly test negative if he goes say a week with gluten free foods after being gluten free for some time? Would it be best for him to eat the diet he is used to and then go to the dr? Would a dr. listen to him and allow him to get a blood test for celiac right away? I would hope they would. Thanks for your reply. I'll look forward... -
ARCHIVED Dh Testing A Gluten Free Diet....
carecare posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi, Glad to have found a forum to post on. I'm here for some advice. My dh has been having lower GI issues for the last 10 yrs or so. I really think this is what he has. He's finally looking into it himself too...and yesterday he came home from work so depressed at the thought of having to change his whole diet. I'm getting overwhelmed...thinking...
