  1. The gum bleeding is a connection, too. I always regarded my acne as an "autoimmune acne" b/c it would be bilateral (mirrored, as you describe it) in nature. As I progress with my gluten free diet, and I get glutened (from a glass of wine last weekend?), my symptoms become more pronounced: 1) scalp itching and hair loss for days 2) facial itching and...
  2. "Enjoy" conditioning spray (only in salons... you'd have to find a salon near you) is gluten free. Also their hairsprays (I use and am very sensitive to gluten in hair products). ALL Giovanni hair products (sold at Whole Foods) are gluten free. The 50/50 shampoo and conditioner are what I use and my scalp and hair are on the mend in a huge way! Good...
  3. Yes, it can be from gluten. Within 24 hrs of going gluten free my skin started drastic changes for the better! For me, acne seemed to be an an inflammatory response to gluten. Makes sense. My hair also changed. Now my face is clear and smooth again. I am 38 and female. There's no joke in having wrinkles AND pimples. Hang in there and read all u can on...
  4. Been reading this thread, laughing... and crying! When is rice chex coming to me? I check my store every time I go and they are all still the old ingredients. I'm going to the manager on my next trip. They prob have boxes in the back!! Tracy
  5. Probably not much of a response, but I've asked myself that since I went gluten-free. My only symptoms, I mean really... ONLY symptoms were itchy scalp and arms. That's it. No rash, even. Definitely years of drastic hair loss, but no rash on scalp or arms. Nooo GI stuff at all. Since going gluten-free I have no itch whatsoever... I had to cut out...
  6. How did your appointment go??
  7. I get itchy too... not in your head at all. My arms, face and scalp itch like crazy. Then I shed a handful or two of hair over the next few days. Lucky me! I get bumps that look like pimples on my upper arms but they are solid... sometimes on my face too although since going gluten-free that has almost completely disappeared. I used comet one day and...
  8. Ohmygosh, I'm the one who posted re: St Ives. I haven't gotten a chance to use it since getting that response from the company. Now I'm not so sure! I think I'll google each ingredient...or just pitch it! Glad I read your note here... Tracy
  9. Thought this might help somebody... Thank you for taking the time to contact Alberto Culver regarding your interest in St. Ives. It is always a pleasure to hear from our consumers and we are happy to respond. The Bodywash does not contain gluten-derived ingredients. Thank you again for contacting Alberto Culver. Sincerely, Sara Belle...
  10. My acne cleared almost immediately upon going gluten-free (face, chest and back). That is how I know when I get glutened... in addition to itchy, itchy scalp and hair loss. The acne is terrible. I figured it was gluten related right away. Best, Tracy
  11. "Damage would be determined by having Celiac or an allergy/intolerance." Ok, this I'm still learning about... My blood tests were negative for Celiac, but I had been gluten-free for almost a month. My saliva test was positive for anti-gliadin antibodies. I have had no stomach/GI symptoms whatsoever, but my Vitamin D came back almost zero (I live in...
  12. Ugh... one of the few pleasures I can enjoy with my kids. We eat sloppy joes with Tostitos Scoops and Kraft Shredded Cheddar Cheese. I'll be testing this one, but almost think it's not worth it to chance it... Thanks for the info. Tracy
  13. Thank you for your reply. I don't seem to have this reaction at all. I've used these products for years... but, I've apparently had gluten issues for years, too, so I'm checking all my regular products. It's distressing to think about what is toxic for our bodies... when you are "new" to the concept. I will watch for reactions to those things and actually...
  14. Hi there. I use a moisturizer, lip plumper and enzyme peel serum from Isomers laboratories. Would anybody look at the ingredients and see if anything sends up a red flag. I started entering each ingredient in google and my eyes are starting to cross. So far all looks ok to me. It's those obscure ingredients that get me. If I put anything with wheat...
  15. Culturelle is gluten free... sold at Walgreens and Publix or you could order it from a reputable company. You will know how "good" they are if they only ship on certain days b/c the package has to be refrigerated. I've used this long before I found out I have gluten intolerance. It's wonderful Tracy
  16. Hello everyone. Would someone offer an experienced opinion to my situation? I completed a saliva cortisol panel for my ND which contained a screening test called Gliadin Ab, SIgA. The results were 27 with normal range < 13. The description states "mild intolerance or reactivity to Gliadin and may be clinically asymptomatic, howere an ongoing low...
  17. Oh, I forgot, there's a small gluten free bakery on Siesta Key where you could pick up bread and desserts!! You would need to call ahead to place an "order" for the type of bread you want... but they are well worth the trip.
  18. Oh my gosh, there is so much here in Sarasota... please plug in "Sarasota" to the search engine on this site, but, off the top of my head, Whole Foods (get the gluten-free list at customer service) Publix (print your own online) Lee Roy Selman's restaurant Outback Carrabas First Watch Chili's My personal/best experience is with a gorgeous 5 star...
  19. Hi, I live in Sarasota and have just started this process... there is an Outback steakhouse on Rt 41 and a Carrabas on Stickney point Rd into Siesta Key (corner of 41 and Clark rd) BUT... last weekend I went to a very fine restaurant called Zoria's on Main St in downtown Sarasota and they catered to me very wonderfully. The sous chef and owner both came...
  20. I thought maybe I had found the "key" to my hair loss when I tested positive for gliadin antibodies and researched it's connection to hair loss. Within 24 hours of going gluten-free my skin changed completely i.e. texture and moisture and I lost the inflammation(thankfully). After 10 days I had no pimples, whatsoever for the first time in 3 years! I'm...
  21. Thank you, everybody! I thought the "bean" component in bean flour might be the culprit. I've never have such a reaction, though. There is tapioca starch so I'll watch for that in the future. All ingredients were: nonfat milk, tapioca starch, white bean flour, sorghum flour, yeast, xanthan gum, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, gelatin, evaporated cane juice...
  22. Hi everybody. I've been hanging around reading all of your advice and information. I am truly grateful for this forum. I tested positive for gluten sensitivity (gliadin antibodies?) and I'm trying out the gluten-free diet. I never suspected I had a food sensitivity because I never had a single symptom as described in all the literature. I found out by...
