Gerri replied to Free-CountryGirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Country Girl until your post I knew nothing about Fructose Malabsorption. Your symptoms you described are similiar to mine. I have been on the Celiac diet for over a year now. The major change from following the Celiac diet, was my severe sleep apnea. It went from severe to readings within the normal range. I have a "leaky gut", and Fructose a... -

yub7gdddddddddddddddddd`]]]] Things different, you didn't mention allergies to drugs, multi-chemical sensitivies, allergy to sulfa, sulfites, sun, eggs, corn, etc etc etc. Today I am being tested with UV to hopefully rule out Porphyria. Lupus also hasn't been ruled out. My health issues are many. MS has been ruled out. I have been diagnosed... -

Gerri replied to Simona19's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Simon, Until your doctors tell you have something to worry about with your lungs, don't panic. I have scar tissue on my lungs as well. I was told the scar tissue was likely resulted from Bronchial Asthma, and pneumonia as a baby. I am 56 this year. The doctors will continue to monitor. I was told I can't have NSAIDs because of the bronchial asthma... -
ARCHIVED Any Celiac(s) From Canada
Gerri replied to Gerri's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
If your feeling better off gluten, why go back on it. My doctor gave a note stating I must follow the Celiac, diet, for rest of my life. For many years I was following the Gluten free diet (at the time about 50%), and my labs showed low celiac, most doctors would not have gave a positive diagnosis. Also I was told to do a gluten challenge, which landed... -
ARCHIVED Canadian Testing?
Gerri replied to puppymamma's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I live in Ontario, had to pay for some of the blood test. The biopsy is not a 100% accurate, and sometime a number of biopsy have to be run. I was following low gluten diet for years. When the blood work was ran, I was showing low Celiac. For a month before the biopsy, I was to eat as much gluten as possible (like a hundred times more than I as eating... -
ARCHIVED Gluten And Corn
Gerri replied to Smarts's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, I am both Celiac, and have a severe corn allergy. It is my understanding that people who are celiac, many also have a corn allergy. When I buy gluten free flours, I make sure there is no corn, soy, wheat, or milk in them. I don't have popcorn, or use corn starch. I read all labels, and my diet is quite limited. I can't take a chance gluten, corn... -

I am new to Celiac (54 year old female), even though I have watched what I ate for many years. I had Gluten problems for many years. ARCHIVED Now I Know I Am Celiac
Gerri posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I couldn't understand until I fired my doctor, and got my lab work back, why my ex doctor told me to stay off Gluten the rest of my life. Tissue transgluaminase IgA *normal is less than 5*, my reading was 5. This number is the lowest level for Celiac, but the blood work was done during a time I was watching the amount of gluten and cutting back (had... -

ARCHIVED Not Celiac
Gerri replied to Gerri's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi If I am indeed not Celiac, then the hell I went through was because of severe increase in my allergy to sulfites, which is in all gluten products. When I increased the gluten bread, pasta, and most baked gluten products, I increased the sulfites. I have had anaphalatic shock from sulfites. When I stopped the gluten, I also decreased the sulfites... -
ARCHIVED Not Celiac
Gerri replied to Gerri's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The GASTRO took 3 biopsies I believe. She didn't give me a copy of the report. She pretty much brushed me off, and told me to loose weight. I had to get her to go over her report to find out about the hernia, and my inflamed esophogus. (Oh, she did say I had GERDs, and IBS again.) I lost 10 lbs right after going off gluten, and haven't loss any since... -
I suspected that I would not be diagnosed with celiac. The Gastro doctor said likely just Gluten Intolerant, and to stay away from glutten if it makes me feel better. She confirmed Acid Reflux with inflammation, which she seen on the way through with the scope. Acid reflux I've had for over 30 years. She said I have an Hiatus Hernia. (this is new...

ARCHIVED So Mad!
Gerri replied to LuvMoosic4life's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Been there done that. Going to see GASTRO tomorrow - if anything she will label me with Gluten intolerance. I have already been told I was celiac by a doctor at a urgent care. Like you I will not be going back to eating gluten to satisfy doctors who don't have to live our life of the pain of celiac, and other health issues that come with it. I feel... -

Gerri replied to nb-canada's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I didn't get to see my results. I was told to go on a gluten free diet indefinitely. Three weeks later and after some blood was done, I seen my GASTRO, she said that there was possible chance I was Celiac, as my blood work showed a great improvement. After having an endoscopy (no results yet). Gastro said I might only be gluten intolerant and what I... -

Hi Everyone, I had my biopsy September 4th. I was so sick. Since having the biopsy I am now off gluten for good. Two week after the biopsy my bloating in my stomach is just starting to go down. My Arthritist (OT) said my hand grip is a little better, still not good, since being off the gluten. Gastro took 3 or 4 samples, I was satated, and still...

ARCHIVED Getting Ready For The Biopsy
Gerri replied to spoticus's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Bridget, 1 bread equals one gluten - one cup of pasta one gluten (I believe) - I am to have five gluten a day. I didn't eat that much gluten before setting up for celiac biopsy. If your saying 4.8 g for one bread and your going up to 23 grams that means about six slice of bread. Man I have to eat one more bread. I believe I have thyroid problems... -
