  1. I've heard many people mention asian markets on here. Gluten-free flours are cheaper at an asian market??? I went to one a couple weeks ago and got two bags of tapioca flour for 69 cents each. That was the only flour they had. Do different markets have different flours? Are the prices usually that much cheaper? Can I be sure they are all gluten-free? Sorry...
  2. My family loves stir-fries for quick meals. We add some frozen shrimp and a bag of frozen veggies. When it's pretty much all cooked we add some red pepper flakes, some soy sauce, and some peanut butter. Sprinkle chopped nuts on top! Delish!
  3. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooooo glad you're feeling better!!!!!!!!!!!!! You've only been gluten-free for a year and you have all those great recipes??? You are FANTASTIC!!!
  4. I live in a Chicago suburb but have found it easiest when I go downtown to go to Chipotle. I know that's not really a place to go to everyday but when I do go there, I feel great afterwards. Us celiacs can get everything besides the burrito and the soft tacos. Beware of the cheese and lettuce bins. The people use the same gloves to get everything out. Sorry...
  5. I don't see it on the label either. That's why I was asking about it. I've actually been using it anyway. My hair is very picky and that seems to be the only shampoo and conditioner that work well for me. I've heard about Dove and Suave but both leave my hair feeling nasty. I'd rather chance it and have nice hair. =)
  6. I really like the Trader Joe's Pancake and Waffle Mix and the Brownie Mix. Both delish. I also am addicted to their fruit and nut granola. All flavors are really good but that is my favorite. Their frozen waffles are really good too. The original ones and the banana ones-but make sure they are the gluten free ones because they're usually right next to the...
  7. I'm looking for a group near LaGrange also. I heard there is one in Brookfield that meets at the library every 4th Thursday of each month. I emailed them about it maybe a month ago and haven't heard anything back. I think I'll check it out this month. I've never been to a support group... =)
  8. That is SO nice of you to take up such a task like that!!! I know many of my friends would never even think about making me a cake and go through the trouble to check all iffy ingredients. You seem like a great friend. =)
  9. I've tried the Muffin Mix and the Waffle Mix. Love them both!

    ARCHIVED Protein

I have a hard time getting enough protein. I'm not a big fan of meat or seafood. I eat nuts occasionally but I don't like them that much. I can't really come up with how else to get protein. How can I add some protein to my diet?
  11. I'm the same way. I'm not lactose intolerant and can handle any other dairy product-butter, sour cream, cheese, all of them. However, I can't handle cow's milk at all. It messes up my insides for usually 2-3 days. I usually get something like Lactaid and don't have a problem with it. I've also tried almond milk and soy milk and don't have a problem with either...
  12. Bob's was the first mix I tried. I didn't like it at all, neither did my family. I recently tried Trader Joe's and it's delicious! I just tried Namaste's mix this morning and it's also delicious. Just a couple more options...=)
  13. I get Whole Foods' Gluten Free Bakehouse Sandwich Bread. I personally think it's good. I always toast it though. I don't' know if that's what you are trying to avoid. Without toasting it, it is very crumbly and almost dry. I've also tried Kinnikinnick's White Tapioca Bread and thought it was good. Good luck on your search!
  14. All of your recipes sound delicious!!! And this is no exception. =)
  15. My goal after going gluten-free is to open a gluten-free bakery or restaurant in a couple years. Sounds like a great opportunity for you if you're interested. =)
  16. Fixed it!!! Thank you so much!!!
  17. Where is options? Sorry, I'm not very computer savvy. =)
  18. It seems that something has changed in the layout. I don't know if it's just on my computer or in general. Whenever I look at a topic, I can't read all the posts by simply scrolling down. I have to click on each person's individual post, then click on the one under it and then the next one and so on. It's such a pain! I checked it out on my sister's laptop...
  19. If you had to pick only five gluten-free flours to have, what would they be? Which ones are used the most and are the most useful? Which flours are the most versatile? What's your opinion?
  20. In the new issue of Glamour for September there is a whole article about autoimmune diseases. Celiac is mentioned a couple times in the article. The article is called The Scariest Health Threat You've Never Heard Of. It's a very interesting article!
  21. Good to know! I've been very interested about their gluten-free mixes but have been somewhat hesitant. I'll have to try those brownies. Thanks for posting!
  22. I do. I'm 15 and was just diagnosed in January. I haven't found any that's near my age and willing to talk!
  23. I've noticed that whenever I eat straight up eggs I get very bloated. That's with omelets, scrambled eggs-things like that. Since yesterday I have been very very bloated but I don't know why. Does anyone else have this problem? I had Tinkyada pasta with red sauce and homemade gluten-free cornbread for dinner. I've been having fruit smoothies and fruit juices...
  24. I've read about Herbal Essences not being gluten-free on this website. Why does shampoo and conditioner need to be gluten-free? I don't eat it or anything...
  25. I eat Smucker's Simply Fruit Strawberry and Red Raspberry. Absolutely my favorite jam out there. I have never had a problem with it.
