  1. Oh ladies!! I'm actually quite a stickler on SO much of the poor grammar and idiotic attempts at punctuation we see every day, but "my bad" needn't be vilified whatsoever!! Such an economy of words, syllables and yes even letters! And its very versatility should be celebrated! Nikki's original comments a couple months ago were spot on, comparing...
  2. AAAAAAAAAAAAGH!! Suuuu-Z!! How gullible AM I to believe something like THAT on the freaking SILLY thread!!?? I think that "diagnosis code" official-sounding jargon tipped the scales. And I just wanted to believe that someone in a position to DO something was a believer. The old me was far too cynical to be gullible. ROFL WOW!! Is it ever a good thing...
  3. Hehehe what a job . . .. .and you work at home?? How do I get one like that? Gah! You've got this soy-deprived brain spinning . .. . .upon 3rd read I decided you aren't joking. When I brought it up I most certainly *was* just joking! Ok then - Brad is the forensic psychologist and he's a BELIEVER??!! And "rule out gluten brain" in the...
  4. Well, GuitarGurl, coming here is good way to start gluten-free. I just put down MY guitar to write this! You'll find a lot of info here in the cooking/baking sections and in the gluten-free Products section. Straight gluten-free is a helluva lot easier than it used to be. I bought a breadmachine to make the bread part a breeze - never did find...
  5. I'm wondering if this Dr is one you believe is a good one. Seems weird to me to tell a celiac "go dairy-free or just use lactaid". The most common longer-term dairy issue for a celiac is casein, the milk protein, not lactose, the milk sugar. You've been gluten-free long enough that the villi tips should be repaired enough to secrete lactase. ...
  6. Yay Kassandra!! Whoa JIN!!! That IS shocking!!!! (And fantastic!) I just about gave up on bread until my sister made a loaf for me during a visit. Ohhhhhh it was so good . . . Just a Bob's Red Mill mix. I bought a bread machine w/in days of returning home. (Of course all of this was well before I found out about candida etc)...
  7. LOL I'm trying to think of what Holiday, then wondering "since when does Labor Day rate so highly?", (& that Labor Day must be USA only) then realizing that in Nikki's wacquie "English" english, 'holiday' means vacation!! So, it's PVF to me, and there's definitely been some upon returning to this infernal inferno (108 today) after 11 days in the...
  8. I meant to also include something like this. My own experience of not taking celiac seriously enough, while actually being >95% gluten-free, led to my literally losing not only years of my life but also net assets in the range of . ... .ugh I can't write it. Let's just say a LOT of $$.
  9. Ohhhhhhh yeah, I like the sound of THAT!!
  10. Heyyyyyy! Salmon is one of the best fish in a non-mercury sense!! Well, wild salmon is anyway. I sure won't vouch for that farmed stuff.
  11. Oh BEV!!!! ROFLMAO  I just about started tearing up by "WITNESS: Are you s$#&t'in me? Your Honor, I think I need a different attorney. Can I get a new attorney? " It's like I can hear this guy!
  12. I think you're quite lucky if it really works that way, w/ a linear ratio. I'm too too sure that if I were 95% gluten-free, I'd be back to 10% function or worse. The fact is, at 100% gluten-free and 100% free of many other foods, I'm so incredibly freaking happy EVERY day, it's beyond anything I ever could imagine; beyond what I thought would ever...
  13. True, of course, that the treatment is the same - but I can only wish the top statement were true. Gluten sensitivity or intolerance wouldn't have spawned the number or severity of symptoms I once had. Celiac can affect EVERY system of the body. The 2nd list of "probables" has a number of conditions which I'd bet by now could be moved to the "definite...
  14. Ohhhhhhh THERE she is! Hi Laura
  15. Ugh hope it's getting better Andrea . .. .. . and quickly! I too would think the bone cleaning <ouch> is the worst part. I don't think bones like being scraped. <ouch> HEY!!! Where's Laura been??!!
  16. Just garlic in the jar? Seems when I see those they have citric acid. Or maybe I don't get 'em cuz after the 1st opening the rest is like leftovers. <---------- <laughing on the inside> YES! I even have unopened tahini I bought to make hummus, but I just keep buying it instead. (The non-vinegar, non-citric acid type btw, candidites...
  17. Hi Kassandra, Oh I'm so sorry it's doing that already! I think others have said they felt worse when starting the diet. I only felt better until the Naturopath's pills-that-kill came along a week or so later. NOWWWWWW I'm thinking I *should've* said "find a naturopath or chiro or someone w/ candida experience". If it is the herx/die-off starting...
  18. Sure Ami! It's really nothing special, but if u like garlic, it works. So simple it barely qualifies as a 'recipe'. EV olive oil & lemon juice - I've never measured. Since leftovers are a big Don't, it's all about making a single serving. I just pour however much evOo looks right for the situation into the bowl, then squeeze most of the juice...
  19. I've decided that the reason there's so so much variation in all the diets stems from everyone being different w.r.t what works. So I'd recommend looking over more than one diet. Here's a few more: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link (huh? fruit?bean? Potato?) <seems I didn't agree w/ this...
  20. JIN!! Don't go scaring ppl! Your situation is different in that you have SO many different things going on at once. I started the extreme diet all at once and felt much better on just the SECOND day! W/ candida, the diet doesn't cause the herx. It's the pills that kill it, thus starting the die-off herx. It survives days w/out food just fine - far...
  21. **MERCURY CLEANUP IN SAN JOSE** Meant to post this last week. County launching a 70(!) yr plan to clean up mercury from that old huge mine. Open Original Shared Link Seems strangely excessive that the new allowable amount of mercury thru the creek is 3/4 ton per year!!
  22. Hi Kassandra, Coffee is bad but for a different reason. It kills, or can kill, the good bacteria. It was SO hard for me to quit coffee, and I only quit it for a couple months. Mmmmmm I so love good coffee. Once all sweeteners and dairy can't be used, u sure notice how burnt starbucks tastes. All my fav coffee houses artfully roast their beans themselves...
  23. Janet, It truly is a two-pronged approach. Neither diet nor pills will do the job solo. Annnnnnnnd speaking of "various products", I went and grabbed empty pill bottles I'd kept just to know what I'd taken. I'm sure the "Candida Connection" book mentions many of these anti-candida substances and of course many can be found - eventually - online,...
  24. I was years into being gluten-free and still waking up 3 or 4x/night to pee. It wasn't just nighttime tho. I'd have to go every 30-40min all day too. Admittedly I WAS drinking a lot of water - but not at night! All of it ended when I found my final food intolerance - that dreaded soy. NoSoyBoy isn't always looking for a bathroom.
  25. The oregano oil is far from a 'last resort'!!! Didn't you just get a book yeserday? There are many products and combinations thereof that can kill candida. ***BUT!!*** If you're still feeding it, it survives. You had said you were trying to do the diet. You MUST starve it by keeping on the strict anti-candida diet. I know very well how...
