  2. For cooking, non-extra-virgin is ok, but on pasta, in salad dressings, making pesto etc extra-virgin is essential. Extra Virgin is aka "cold pressed", as there's no heat in process - unlike any other method. I was in Phx last year & usually bought whatever extra-virgin was on sale @ Sprouts or Sunflower or sometimes Trader Joe's. ~$6/liter &...

  5. UGH!!! Lucky it wasn't worse?? As far as post count significance, I'm not seeing it - and I LOOKED!!!! 13. [Posting what was written before hearing of Ken] Ah damn, Jess - I can imagine that to be quite disheartening. ROFL Yeah I liked Sapporo. I remember it being somewhat crisp, w/ a lightly bitter (for a lager) sharpness rounding off at the tail. (Oy I'm not sure there's much actual sense in that) ...
  14. oh crap .. . ..I'm still somewhat in shock but I just got the news that a buddy of mine died this morning. Ken was the trombone player in that great cover band I was in in the 90s. Such a selfless altruistic guy. When one of the female singers had trouble cutting her grass he loaded his lawnmower in the pickup & drove 20+ miles to her house to mow...

While extremely hot for SJ - 25 or 30 deg F over avg for mid-May - it only felt like a nice day in Phx. Licorice whip? Wet...

  22. Well, you & Janet & Julie can have a few of mine. (Dibs on the Medal of Honor one & the Chicago DJ!!) You'd think I was John Smith or something! No Magic Triangle???? I wonder if Scott is aware of how often this happens. For the computing world, I think it's a LOT! Ooooh!! Didja check to see if you're a killer...
  23. Can't imagine why your list would say that, unless you're also sweetener-free. A great Rice Krispies sub, by Erehwon (pretty sure WIDEly enjoyed by celiacs), has it, as does my hazelnut milk. I've never had a problem w/ either, nor w/ any other product w/ brown rice syrup. I've also never heard of it having gluten. And I'm really quite surprised...
