  1. And Jude.....what kind of alert do you get when you give in and smoke one. I'm picturing the robot from Lost in Space (remember that program?) "Warning, warning, warning" madly waving arms! Manda.....I think everyone has days like that.....don't they? I have to make lists...and I get "everything" laid out the night before...all together so I can...
  2. OMG JUUUDE! I read this and I thought YOU were smoking one!!! I'm wondering as I read....smoking one what? I thought she quit smoking....what IS it she's smoking? Had to re-read this a couple of times to "get it"
  3. I just got this in an email and had to share! One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me. I was maybe 2 1/2 years old and had just recovered from an accident. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a get-well gift and it was one of my favorite toys. Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought Daddy...
  4. Finally caught up again....a never ending process, like laundry/dusting/vacuuming etc....but LOTS more phun! I wandered onto Da Book today....tried to catch up some. Had to exit stage left and shut down in a hurry. Major thunderstorm came rolling through! Too short lived, tho. I really like thunderstorms. Hey Jude! Glad you were able to crawl...
  5. Agree, 'tis a wonderful, sweet gesture. I sympathize with you about missing family phunctions, and missing family. I'm only a days drive from mine (that's the only thing keeping me from moving MUCH farther south!). Sometimes it is hard. Emser! LOVED the gift idea! Makes me think about christmas gift ideas (Last year I did picture CDISKS, lots of work...
  6. Oooooh, Gian0nut! Hope the back pain goes away quickly. Back pain really sucks! Bunnie...there is a clear Calamine in the bathroom cupboard drug store that works fairly well. I like it 'cause you can't see it! No more going out in public with pink smear all over your skin. I also get the rash by just looking at the plant (or maybe it was DH all of those...
  7. Heh heh heh....American Civckeb send us a pic! Generally the finding of new species is in places that are not populated ..... in jungles and islands. How kool to discover a new species here......and to actually be talking to one!
  8. *I* still luuuv J. Denver too. We must be part of a secret society, where nobody admits to this in public! There is just something so......flowerchild 60-ish.....peace/love/mellow/meloncholy about his music that just flows through my heart like a warm, chuckly stream. (Told you I was crazy!) I tend to be seriously insulted at pointed fingers. I...
  9. Mimm-e-o, I have to say, you add a very special something to this group. I'm glad you're here! Sacrificial Azaleas....yes. I have several. They were meant to be beautiful and prolific in their flowering.....but the deer have deflowered defoliated every dang one. I now have several very naked shrubs....(talk about your double wood!). 13. Hi Lauriann. You definitely are not alone here. Many have other autoimmune disorders, they seem to travel in groups (like preditors trying to wear you down). I have Raynauds as well. I was recently tested for Sjogrens. My blood test was negative, but I have all of the symptoms. The Rhuemy doc thought I had it in spite of the bloodwork. I passed on...
  14. Mimmi....the thought of you chewing your legs off reminded me of a Stephen King short story of a man who survived (for a long time anyway) by eating himselph! He would cauterize and sew himselph up so he wouldn't bleed to death. If I remember right there wasn't much left of him when they found him. Must be I wasn't very impressed by the story, I don't...
  15. Manda...it DOES make you wonder what on earth possesses someone of such a nasty temperament to go into such a field!! Is it power trips? Does bullying people who are helpless to defend themselves make them feel good for some reason? There are too many like her in such positions, and I'm really sorry your John had to deal with that! Hopefully a complaint...
  16. Sheezz! Hard to believe how much a person can miss in a few short days! I'm going to have to go check the dryer in a minute.....it's been screaming in the basement for some time now. Actually, I haven't heard any screams in the last few minutes.....it may be dead! Hope everyones Easter was grand! We did our ham dinner the weekend before (and consequent...
  17. Bev-really...these were beautiful!!! I've never heard of Dow's Lake. Do you know of any of its history? Named for a Dow person/family? Dow is *my* family name!!! I know of only one other Dow family. Am very interested if you have any info.
  18. YAAAAAAYYYY!!! So good to hear from you. I'm just catching up and I know this was days ago, but I just had to give a cheer!!! Hope everything continues to go so fantastically well that it's hard to believe!!!
  19. I have to agree here. You could be sustaining so much more damage than just itchy skin! I happen to be one who has many symptoms, DH as well as severe intestinal damage. If you do a little research, you'll see the possible consequences of avoiding the gluten free diet. There are so many food options available to you....and many substitutions for wheat...
  20. Me 3!!! Manda....so glad you two have that part over with! The waiting in agony is over. Let the healing begin! Hope it's quick and easy Hi all! Happy Good Friday! Jude...hope yer doing much better...youse too Psuess! Loved the great news from Curly grandma <heeheegiggleface> Or is it Gramma Curly.....or Gramma Fries....or....aw heck....

  22. Niknik....consider it a blessing if your brain shuts down when the kiddies are home for a holiday!!!! Makes it so much more tolerable.
  23. Hey everybody! Em....good news about your dad! Hope the surgery ends all of this nonsense and he can be well again. Manda.....glad John can phinally get this taken care of! You're in my prayers, too, for speedy recovery, no complications, for all to go well. Try not to worry.....worry only uses up energy that is much needed for other things...
  24. Hi! I've long since decided that there is no such thing as "classic" DH! As I've read posts here, it IS different for everybody. For myself, I have literally had it everywhere. Staying gluten free, means staying free of DH as well. I understand that it can take a year for your skin to stop being so sensitive. Finally....I can have salt without a nasty...
  25. Because of genetics there is a high likelihood that your son may have Celiac. You have started him in a lifestyle without gluten and he is doing just fine. Why take the risk of problems? He may have symptoms and damage that you may never see. If this were me, I would continue the gluten free diet with him, be safe and be sure. Like many others.....how...
