    ARCHIVED Newbie

Hi and welcome! You're not alone with having a difficult time with the diet, as you'll see when reading along. Many have trouble at first. We often crave the very things that hurt us! For others of us it's a no brainer. I will never, ever put myself willingly in a position to be so sick again! I've been gluten-free for 1 1/2 years and am still struggling...
  2. Ugh! Em-n-Em....yer pooor, poor dad! I remember the one time my own dad was in the hospital. His first and only time till last year. He had scar tissue wrapped around and cutting off the intestines (they sent him home a couple of times saying nothing was wrong with him and he almost died. Exploratory surgery discovered the problem <:aghastangryWIHface...

  4. Psuess....was this stray devil cat perhaps a small Mexican Gardener Cat? They are not content to just stalk...like other mexican gardeners.....they are immoral enough to go after their prey ! Just kidding, really. I don't know why a stray would claim your house as territory and fight for it. Maybe it's an old pal from your Kit's old "hood". (He...
  5. Although I have not tried this myself, some people I work with swear by dryer sheets in your clothing (hat, pockets, whatever). I can't stand the smell, but supposedly it keep the bugs away.

  7. Hi Lola. I hear ya. When I was a teen I had chronic migraines. Bad enough they used to put me down for days. Even as an adult I would get occaisional migraines. I'm convinced that they were Celiac related. I also used to get terrible rashes and blamed them on poison ivy. Anyway, after I was seriously ill and finally got a diagnosis (also had DH almost...
  8. Gaaaaaahhhh! This was just wunnerphul! Gave me a big chuckle!
  9. Hey all! Thought I'd take a break and poop in here. Been painting the deck...2nd coat. Gorgeous day here...shiny and 80's. Luv it! I added some new fishies to my pond. 6 are tiny mosquito fish (they eat the mosquito larva....aaaaaaand alga...whoopee!). Also got 2 koy...about 6" long. The mosquito fish took off right away in a tiny little school. ...

  12. Hard to tell from pictures, but your description sure sounds like it. The burn and pain was so bad for me it woke me at night. I'd wake up digging and scratching like mad. Anyway, the longer I held to the diet, the rash subsided. I knew when I got glutened, though, as it came back. I learned to avoid things like iodine, ibuprofen for a while. The blisters...

    ARCHIVED Mockingbirds And Celiac

Good for you!! My hope is that all doctors pay attention and look at this with an open mind. When I went to a rhuemy doc., because I tested neg. for arthritis...and knowing that I had Celiac, and other immune disorders, she just kind of threw up her hands with "there's nothing I can do for you". I think too many doc.s are of this frame of mind. Makes me...
  14. MOrnin alL Mini Mom.....Good thiings often balance the bad. I'm sure all will work out well in the end. I know what it's like to try to balance multiple jobs and still be a parent. I think I hear the creaKing of a new door opening for you! Keeping your hubbies job opportunity in prayer. 'Tis so hard to lose a pet...they bring such joy to our lives...
  15. QUOTE (DingoGirl @ May 19 2009, 08:17 PM) I don't wear regular diapers. I wear "Oops I Crapped My Pants!!!" I used to Adore SNL!! Back when the "good ones" were on. So many of them are gone.....probably now playing with Mousey and Allo.....and so many of our little loved ones. Sorry I missed the All PoWerPhul OmniScient Creator of Psilli-villi...
  16. PsueSSle!!! I didn't know you belonged to MeNsa!!!! I NEvER would have guessed!!!!
  17. Does sound like it could be Sjogrens to me. Look it up and see what you think. There are tests for it, but the down side is that there is no "cure". It is another immune system disorder....they seem to travel in "packs", so to speak. You could use eye drops for relief. I do. I carry them with me everywhere. Hope this helps
  18. I can relate to almost all of your symptoms. I can also state that having one immune disorder does not preclude another. I've recently been diagnosed with "other" immune disorders....but Celiac was the first to be found. Just because your family members have not been diagnosed, does not mean it's not there. If you feel so much better on a gluten free...
  19. It's just like you've said, and read here from other Celiac people.....some feel better right away, others take weeks, months, years to find relief. I think it depends largely on the amount of damage, strength of sensitivity, other food intolerances and other complications (other immune disorders for example). I hope you are one who feels relief very quickly...
  20. Thanks for the posting, Happy Girl! My mom, I'm convinced, is Celiac, but she won't be tested. Lately she is having some serious "bouts" but says it's just IBS. This backs up my thinking, but, like so many others, I can provide information but can't force family to test. I'm always grateful for more info.
  21. They're all right! 40 is nuttin! My sisters threw me a "BLACK" birthday party. Was fun. 2 minutes later I was lookin at 50. It goes by much too fast to worry about it. Then again, it goes by much too fast to worry about anything anymore. What a ride!! Pah-tay...hope you can comb out the snags quickly and easily. Psuessle.....ahhhh, Psuessle...
  22. Mornin all! Psuess....you could send some of your heat our way again! We've gone from 80's to 50's almost overnight. Thats day temps. Brrrrrr. Our weather has been so crazy this spring. No psilly today....hope you are all well.
  23. Hi there! I wish you luck with the diet and with your health. The only advice I'm tempted to give is to read, have lots of patience with yourself, and ask questions. You are in a great place for information and support! Every one is different as far as symptoms and with how much time it takes to feel better. Some feel relief right away, others take months...
  24. Mornin everybody! It IS still morning, isn't it? My pholks left this morning for home, by way of another sisters' house in New Jersey. Mom is very worried about an upcoming hip replacement. She had both knees done some time ago.....back when they zipped open the knees and left a huge scar. Hopefully she has a much easier time with this! My parents are...
  25. It may be that you just need more time. My weight was really low before diagnosis. Even when my nutrient levels started looking better, I wasn't gaining weight. It took more than a year after diagnosis and being on the diet before I started gaining any significant amount of weight. Even now, my doc would like to see me gain more (I disagree, though),...
