  1. Hi everyone, again...sorry I lost this post and couldn't find it again until today! So, my sister lives in Providence, and she found this site: Open Original Shared Link it's an entire summit dedicated to gluten free cooking, and they do food demonstrations, tastings, etc. it's 3 days, and it's kind of expensive, but I would really like to go. ...
  2. PANCAKE BATTER ADDED TO EGGS????????? WTF???????????????
  3. Hi Little Miss Allergy! I think you have a very unique problem here...well as does everyone on here I suppose! But i think you are a little bit more complicated because you have so many restrictions. i would have to say, only eat what you KNOW you can eat comfortably and not worry you will get sick (sometimes that worry can make you sick anyway, and make...
  4. Ok I totally misrepresented myself in that last post...so sorry...I don't solely eat only pre-packaged gluten free food. that's silly. but if something like lunch meat...I only eat the pre-packaged certified gluten free kind. I make a lot of stuff from scratch. I make a great mac and cheese that I found in bon appetit magazine, but I just altered it to...
  5. Hi! Let's see, I gained steadily over the past 5.5 years, went from 118 lbs to 142lbs. Even after trying to go to the gym, I couldn't lose weight. I'm also diabetic, and am actually quite petite, only 5'1". once I learned of the gluten allergy, I dropped almost 10 pounds within a month or two. I've remained around 132 since then. I think part of it...
  6. wow, I'm so sorry you and your son had to deal with that. No 7 year old should be singled out to feel different or special in a negative way. Aside from the fact that kids are cruel, now they'll have something to hold against him when they can't eat those food rewards. And I also don't think kids should be given food rewards. give them the treat of an...
  7. What I understand is that it takes quite a while for all the gluten to get out of your system. I have heard you have to be completely STRICTLY gluten free for at least 6 weeks for your body to a) expel whatever is lurking, and heal itself. It can take a long time for your body to heal itself, especially if you're still eating even a little something here...
  8. Hiya! My name is Liz...and was browsing the non-gluten topics, and read yours! WOW!!! Well....I'm so baffled by your conundrum. I hate your roommate. I don't even know her...or you...but I hate her anyway. I, too have had my share of a bad roommate in college...t'was about 7 years ago now, but roommates can be completely uncooperative, mean, and conniving...
  9. Hi there, so I know this thread has been not answered in a while, but if anyone out there in Boston or thereabouts is still interested in getting together, I'm game. My name is Liz, I work in Medford (there is a Not Your Average Joe's in my office complex!) and it's accessible by MBTA orange line at Wellington Station. I am also willing to travel around...
  10. Hi! I'm Liz, new to the gluten free forum here. I have been to PF Chang's MANY a time now...it's one of my favorite places to go! Here's some of the great options: Gluten free lettuce wraps (with a gluten free sauce) Singapore Street Noodles...this was the first dish I tried, and for months never tried anything else because they were sooo tasty...
  11. Thanks, lizard00 (that used to be my nickname!!), and NJKen! I plan on sticking around...as does my allergy I think. It's funny, I work with someone from India, and she has a lot of allergies (not food, but environment) and we were chatting about gluten allergies, and I mentioned that I missed Indian food, and she said that it would be really difficult...
  12. Hello, I'm brand new to this forum, and have spent my ENTIRE day not working, and researching gluten free restaurants in the Boston area. It's my best friend's birthday next week, and she asked me where we could go (she asked about a French restaurant that we went to a few times before I was diagnosed, and even for my sister's wedding, however I got sick...
