  1. Thanks everyone, you already made me feel better Actually it is still affecting me a bit today...feeling "off" and irritable for no otehr reason, despite getting enough sleep and eating well. I am still kinda bloated as well...probably me least favorite of the lovely side effects of glutening. But now I know for next time, and I have realized...
  2. Hi everyone! It has been a while wincw I last wrote, not really by choice, but due to 2 jobs and moving etc. So I hope everyone is doing well!! Well it is currently 4:15am and I am wide awake in a state of full-fledged glutening. And I have noone to blame except myself!! Not even the wonderful thanksgiving meal that my fiance's mother cooked up...and...
  3. Hi! I am also recently diagnosed as extremely gluten-sensitive by my specialist...yay for good docs! My doc never suggested to re-check my blood-work, although I think that's a great idea I might ask about at my next appointment. The hardest part for me is that I am in university and so preparing food ahead of time and finding food when i am...

    ARCHIVED Nutritionist?

Hi--- I am switching careers and becoming a registered holistic nutritionist---at least you guys can know there wil be at least ONE nutritionist out there who knows all about celiac!! -Glutina
  5. I personally struggle in this area, and I have been using my friends' reaction to my gluten-free speech to gauge if I should go or not. If they are genuinely listening, asking questions to figure things out or offer their meal and preparation ideas, I will usually go. Whereas, if they are kind of nodding and looking off into space as I am explaining myself...
  6. hi again and thanks for the replies!!! RiceGuy---thanks for the link---scary thought/info, but good to know!!! Curlyfries---how frustrating that your reflux is returning. Have you heard of H. Pylori...? I know that can cause reflux that seems to be helped by yogurt. 1965---yes, I have heard of apple cider vinegar. I dont think i woul...
  7. Hello all you inspirational gluten-free people, I have been having SUCH amazing results since being gluten-free for 2.5 months now. And while I can mark my progress in many areas, the one I am having a hard time telling if anything has changed is in the area of acid reflux. I have noticed a SLIGHT improvement, but not as much as I was hoping. My...
  8. Hi! Those recipes sound AMAZING!!! I heart Quinoa!!! I actually made the yummiest breaky out of quinoa....: Warm up leftover quinoa (or cook some) and add craisins (mmm), brown sugar/honey, cinnamon, a pinch of flax seeds and fruit of your choice. I personally love adding frozen blueberries..I like the temperature and texture the frozen berries...

    ARCHIVED Weight Gain

Hi Roxie! I, too, battled and eating disorder (well, a few....) and I have some questions for you: -How long have you been recovered? (ARE you recovered from you ED?) -Do you have a professional to talk to about how you are feeling about this new path? -Do you have a support system around you? Do you family/close friends know how you are feeling...
  10. Hi! I am relatively new yet to the whole gluten-free life, but I certainly notice when I slip up. First, there's the bloating. Ugh. I look pregnant, i swear. Next come the washroom "isues"...usually starting with an urgent case (or few) or D, followed the next day or so by C. If it's really bad, I get such severe abdominal pain and the D is so bad that...
  11. Hi! Any suggestionbs I might have had were already said...but I still just wanted to give you a: ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUG))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) )))))) What an awful situation! -Glutina
  12. Hi! Yup---IBS was thrown my way on a few occasions, and those were the doctors who barely asked any questions (and I now know not the right ones) and gave me anti-spasmatic drugs. Oh gee, thanks. No looking into the causes, or th link between my rash flare-ups, horrrrible stomach/abdominal pains that would make me feel like I was dying, washroom episodes...

    ARCHIVED Good G.i. Specialist

Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that I had wonderfully positive experience with a specialist in Vancouver named Dr. Yoshida. He is at the Diamond Health Centre by the vancouver general hospital. If you read my thread entitled: "Follow up Appointment; happy ending" you get to hear about him. He takes the time to really get to the bottom of...

  15. Hello again everyone! I hope your gluten free lives are going well I just wanted to update on the follow-up appointeny I had with my doc, as it was a bit surprising to me. Quick overview: So...I was tested by a G.I. specialist in January for Celiac via bloodwork. (He immediately asked if I had ever been tested for it and about my family history...
  16. Hi! My story is similar...I am posting a thread about it in fact right after this...but just a quick recap: I am basically a self-disgnosis as well, with the encouragement of my doctor (explains in my thread) because my blood test came back negative...but between the time that I had an ultrasoudn and the follow up appointment, I went gluten free and feel...

  18. Okay-- i look forward to hearing what your doc has to say. What an interesting mess we can cause when we fail to follow natural eating patterns...

  19. hi! I have lost what I consider to be a substantial amount of weight going gluten-free...11 pounds! (In order to reach my healthy, ideal weight that I have not been able to attain since recovering from my eating disorder, I need to lose another 10 or so, but I am not worrying about it if I stay here) Literally all I changed was eliminating gluten, but...
  20. Or, there is another side to this whole thing where someone says they are "gluten intolerant" but just choose to "suck it up" and deal with the consequences. ....really???? It makes me feel like they are either not gluten intolerant then, or in serious denial. I feel like saying, "well, I'm sorry but even the smallest amount affects me, personally....even...

  22. hello from another newbie in the gluten-free way of life! I just wanted to say that your positive attitude towards your diagnosis will certainly help in your return to health...I know that by viewing my diagnosis as "hey--at least now I know what to do to get healthy" rather than "oh poor me, I have to change my life now", I have seen marked improvements...
  23. hi ar8! I have a follow up appt. soon, so I will update then! ciao!

  24. Hi Glutina...

I also have gone through several eating disorders and my weight continues to fluctuate-- I have binge eaten a lot and have also gone through times of restrictive eating. I now have a lot of gi issues-- burping, gas, even gastroparesis. How does your GI doc think that the eating disorders are related to gluten sensitivity?? I suspect I may have triggered my own as well, but neve
