Ivanna44 replied to twinflame2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi twinflame2 Welcome to the forums. You are in the right place for support, encouragement and venting when need be In terms of costs. As one other member said, I do believe it is the most costly when we first start out. As we are trying to "sub" for things we commonly ate in the past. I am just my first month of gluten-free . But I'd have to say... -

Ivanna44 replied to camoflauge's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi Heather, (camoflauge) First off Welcome to the forums You are in the right place for support, recipes, and Venting the odd day Most likely "cross contimination" is your biggest problem. Read labels and reREAD labels. I've accidently gluttened myself, by just assuming something was ok. You need to really stick to the gluten-free diet, now that... -
It's hard to believe that one month as gone by now. When I sit back and think of the "emotional attachment" I had to gluten when I first went gluten-free , I do roll my eyes a tad I was so down by it at the time. It was not till I found out that Kinnikinnick products were at my local grocer's and they had Donuts!!! that tasted no different than wheat ones...

This blog was originally dated as March 20th, but I only recently figured out how to "add in blogs" >> blames gluten for lack of knowledge :D Today, I did finally get to the Organic Market and found the product name I was looking for. I wish I did not have my son along with me, (he's just 4) as I could not look around as well I as I wanted too....

ARCHIVED Just Want To Say Hi!
Ivanna44 replied to chasing4's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi chasing4, Hugs and welcome to the boards. You are in the right place for support, encouragement and venting when needed. It is very frustrating when you know something is wrong, and you can't get a diagnoses for it. Bottom line, if going gluten-free has helped your daughter, then stick with it. In today's world of "elimination diets" etc; and... -

ARCHIVED What To Do About My "mixed" House
Ivanna44 replied to Nan2N's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi again, Nan2N Don't you just LOVE the dollar store I'm glad you have a buddy whom is willing to help you clear out the gluten in your kitchen. In terms of your questions for the dishwasher etc. To remain on the safe side, I would prewash with a nylon plastic scrubber any pots, pans you use, as well as utensils for eating, cooking. Get rid of any... -
ARCHIVED What To Do About My "mixed" House
Ivanna44 replied to Nan2N's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Nan2N I very much relate to where you are coming from. At least in terms of the "gluten" people (aka rest of family) leaving your home in "crumb swampland." Luckily for you, as you are diagnosed as celiac, they may take you more seriously. I do not have that diagnoses, I just had a very wise doctor, going on a hunch and some odd blood work results that... -

Hi Again Lonewolf, I hear you on the bad and then feel crappy days, cause of not exercise or eating wrong foods. I am also 5 foot 7... weighted last week at 141. It's something... -

Ivanna44 replied to cruelshoes's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you cruelshoes, For the investigative works. It will most likely be a while till they arrive in Canadian stores. Maybe a year for us. I'll hope for sooner. Just wish they'd reforumalate the Kelloggs Rice Crsipies now, and remove the "barley malt" so we can have regular rice cripsies squares again. I miss those. I tried making some out the 4$ a small... -

ARCHIVED Sinking Bread, Any Ideas To Help It?
Ivanna44 replied to Ivanna44's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thank you all, For the replies on the "sinking ships" bread Good to know I'm not alone that way. I do not let the bread rise above the top of the pan. I did that the very first time, and it started to break up and fall to the bottom of oven when cooking. So I learned early not to let it rise (high like reg bread >wheat kind) I kinda wonder... -

ARCHIVED Sinking Bread, Any Ideas To Help It?
Ivanna44 replied to Ivanna44's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi Ridgewalker, To help clarify. It sinks in the middle. Think of a cake that has "dropped" in the middle. I take the bread out, and it makes the hollow sound, to indicate its done. I do let them rise to nearly 3 x's the orginal size. Near one hour of rising, and I use an "mock" proofing oven method. Where you turn the oven on to 150F for 10 mins, prior... -
ARCHIVED Sinking Bread, Any Ideas To Help It?
Ivanna44 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi All, I made my 3rd loaf of gluten-free bread today, with a different premix brand. Taste wise and looks wise, it reminds me a lot of reg. wheat bread. I am definately happy with trying out this other company's gluten-free bread mix. I even burnt out my hand mixer, as the dough for this other company's bread mix, was more like reg. bread dough. I now... -
Hi feelingbetter (Brenda) Welcome to the "gluten free gang" so to speak Withdrawls from food allergies will vary. Headaches are common, from what I've heard. It also takes time for the body to detox from food reactions, its all very individualized, not everyone has the same reactions to withdrawl. Bottom line, if your body feels better by going...

ARCHIVED Anyone Have A Bunny Rabbit?
Ivanna44 replied to dandelionmom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi dandelionmom, I would think there might be rice-based rabbit food pellets. I know they do rice food for dogs and cats so on. Iams brand comes to mind. Like us, pets can be sensitive to gluten and wheat based foods. Your best bet, I think would be check out a vet. ARCHIVED Is This Normal, And What Should I Do?
Ivanna44 replied to a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi hightop girl, Yes, gluten is EVERYWHERE! as you put it. Congrats on losing the 25 lbs. I would not be worried about the 5 pounds gain, you have most likely gained it, due to intensive working out. As you mentioned you are getting ready for an "ironman" competition in June. Lean muscle mass weights more than fat. Let's face it, better to gain muscle than...
