  1. I have one of those Gluten-Free shopping guide books and it lists Nutro as gluten-free dog and cat food.
  2. My children see a GI (pediatric, but he may be able to talk to you) in Rochester. You can check him out online on FOXDetroitNews (or whatever their online link is). He is interviewed and I have seen it online. Check under gluten-free or celiac when searching their site. He is VERY knowledgeable with celiac. His name is Belknap. I believe he is the largest...
  3. I am jumping up and down in joy! Thank you all! I can't wait to get out and experiment! I appreciate the starter tips. I can not believe all of the help that I have received from this site - thank you!!!!! -Julie (AMQ and AGQ Mom)
  4. Thank you for your replies! I really appreciate it. EE is a condition with her esophagus - basically, her esophagus swells anytime she eats an allergen. This leads to scar tissue and the possibility of needing a feeding device or protein drinks due to an inability to swallow later in life. I will look up the brazilian cheese rolls and try it dairy free. The...
  5. My 1st grader (almost 2nd grader) has EE on top of celiac. She has severe food allergies and I was wondering if any of you had ideas for making snacks that fill her up. Right now, I am experimenting with Chebe products. Here is the thing...she is dairy free, allergic to legumes (including soy), allergic to corn, grains, coconut, sesame, tree nuts, carrots...
  6. I am so sorry about your life changes and the challenges that are out there in the world...I was so MAD today that my girls have celiac. I usually try not to be mad and to remember that there are no drugs or surgeries involved with celiac. In my "funk," I found this thread. It broke my heart because I projeted your feelings onto my daughter's. My first grader...
  7. Many, many thanks to you all! I have calmed down after reading your responses. No masks, no gloves. I went into full protection mode instead of just mommy mode. Thank you. I will follow your tips and hope for the best. I really want them to live life to the fullest and travel is one of those elements that I don't want them to miss out on. Thank you for all...
  8. Greetings! We are traveling from Michigan to Colorado on Thursday. Both of my girls are celiac. My eldest is 7 years old and also has EE. She is very oral (still sucks thumb and licks hands - I was hoping that this would go away with her anxieties once gluten free, but only diminishing). Here is my question: we will be on an airplane and in rental cars, etc...
  9. Also, there was a recent feed about latex gloves - avoid those that are powdered.
  10. Just a random thought, but my girls are celiac and I am not. I had to switch to gluten free lipstick for kisses. Gluten is sticky and you never know what they might touch (like where I kiss them) and then accidently touch their mouth area. I have to be sure not to cross contaminate my lipstick by eating gluten and then applying more lipstick. If your wife...
  11. Do you cook with eggs? If so, we take tapioca bread and dip it in egg that has been whisked well with a little cinnamon and nutmeg and then cook them over the stove in a pan (using coconut oil or some butter/margarine product that you can tolerate) and it comes out like French Toast. My 7 year old has many severe allergies and she likes this for breakfast...
  12. Please let us know what Pampered Chef says to you, Aleshia! I wrote a similar topic a few weeks ago about my Pampered Chef. I emailed them about the situation and was told that I should replace the product - they could not assure me that there was any way to positively remove the gluten. I didn't even think of asking for exchange or replacements - great...
  13. I just read that baking soda is not gluten free. Is this true? I am fairly new to this and this revealation didn't sit well with me. Can anyone explain it to me? Baking powder can be fine, I get that. I use baking soda for many different uses. i don't want to make my kids sick. Thank you for your input! - Julie
  14. Thanks for your feedback. Pampered Chef got back to me about the stoneware - no way to get gluten out for sure. Guess I will find some gluten eating friends to give my cookware to!
  15. Does anyone know of ink pads for stamping that are gluten free? My toddler's preschool often uses stamps and ink for projects.
  16. I am having a hard time tossing my Pampered Chef stoneware and a couple of my cast iron skillets. Any suggestions for sanitizing these things or do I just need to bite the bullet and let them go? They were used before my girls were diagnosed celiac.
  17. Maple Grove Farms also lists "gluten free" by the ingredients
  18. One of my children vomited and the other didn't (both are Celiac). Before being diagnosed Celiac, my youngest had projectile vomiting pretty regularly. I assumed that she was making herself throw up / being strong willed because it was only certain foods. Now I know that it was gluten!!! This is what I noticed, though - her vomit shot out and seldom landed...
  19. Okay, my two girls were just diagnosed Celiac. I know that there are lists out there, but I am getting a little overwhelmed and am looking for a quick answer. I am researching food ingredients, changing out utensils, making playdough, watching shamoos, lotions, etc....but make-up has me in a brain freeze! Any suggestions for a lipstick or good overnight...
  20. I am not Celiac, my two daughters are. One year ago, I was diagnosed with a rare genetic malformation that led to hundreds of polyps on my digestive tract. Prior to the removal of my colon, I met with a natural nutritionist who highly recommended Bromelain and aloe vera juice. The aloe that I used was George's brand - no taste to it. It seemed to help me...
  21. Thank you so much for sharing with me. Your input has helped me greatly! What a lot of wisdom there is to be gained on this site - thank you, again.
  22. I am sorry to say that I am not in the position to advise you on how much gluten to add back to your child's diet. What I would like to share with you, though, is the experience that I had with my two year old (who turned three during her biopsy week). She was not eating much at all and completely malnurished. Granted, I did not have to take gluten out of...
  23. My toddler is Celiac so we had bloodwork done on my eldest (almost 7 year old) and the rest of the family. My husband and I were negative, my eldest was positive. I got the results yesterday and am keeping them from her until her biopsies (which I am going to have done since I need to know a few other things about her health like allergies and the extend...
