  1. I noticed some change immediatly I went from looking 8mths prego to 2 mths prego and it was gradually from there, but I did notice with Dairy it contributed to it, even now after 3mths gluten free I cannot milk or I get the prego look again. But honestly after about 2 mths I felt my stomach was back to normal, I have actually lost about 10 pounds and went...
  2. I also am in Canada, and find that hotdogs almost always contain wheat which is clearly listed on the packaging. I believe the last brand that I saw was Maple Leaf.
  3. Most hot dogs DO have gluten but you would have to check the ingredients on each particular brand. Regardless if the hot dog was gluten free or not, she is going to get sick from the bun that her hot dog was in. I agree with ravenwoodglass, if the hotdog was gluten free it is going to be SO cross contaminated from the other food in the kitchen the staff who...
  4. Immediatly I noticed the bloating disappear, then the diaraha, and everthing else was very gradual. Depending on how strict your being with the diet and cross contamination you may still have abdominal pain. I noticed the first few weeks I would get very sick from cross contamination because I was sharing a butter dish with my boyfriend, sharing toaster and...
  5. Oats need to be gradually introduced into a gluten free diet after being gluten free for a few mths, and only a very small portion at a time to see if they cause symptoms. With me I have been gluten free for about 3 mths and I still cannot tolerate oats, I don't even bother anymore. Just out of curosity you said you had a biopsy but what was your blood...
  6. I would think that if she is not being glutened by cross contamination, and consuming 0 gluten, there is another issue happening. If you want to be 100% sure that is not the gluten that is making these symptoms appear than I would have her IgA levels tested to see if they have came down and are in a normal level. Depending on how long it has been since she...
  7. Thanks.....I went to the doc and she put me on some sort of muscle relaxer and celebrex, and also gave me some sort of topical liquid for the shoulder. She said it was muscle spasm, and its caused by tension. I told her how long this has been bothering me and she said that since I did show loss of cervical lordosis at one point she would scheduale a C-scan...
  8. I have read and heard from multipe sources that you should actually avoid actual for 6mths-1year depending on how much damage you have done to your insides which you can normally find out when you have you biopsy if you had one. I know myself, if I drink than I will be recovering the whole next day, and I mean violently ill. I was diagnosed in mar/08, and...
  9. So to try and sum up my story, I have been having health issues since I was 16, and I am now 28. The pain I am in right now is unbearable pain in my left shoulder blade, shooting up to my neck. I have had pain in my back for the past 8 years, had an x-ray 7 years ago which showed muscle spasms and loss of cervical lordosis. The pain has never went away...
  10. I am in Canada, and I am not sure but you may be able to get this in the US. Old el Paso taco seasoning mix seems to appear gluten free and I have been having no problems with it , I have been using it since I went gluten free a few months ago. Old el Paso lists any type of gluten in their ingredient list. Hope this helps Their fagita mix is really good...
  11. Hello fellow Canadians I am originally from PEI but living in BC now, also newly diagnosed in April by positive bloodwork and biopsy. Slowly improving with the gluten free diet. But still struggling with many side effects still. Just wanted to say hello, and also remind everyone in Canada that with a proper diagnosis and receipts for gluten free food...
  12. I used to work at a McDonald's, I am in Canada, and Yes they do have fryers for the fries at the front of the store, and that is the only thing that is cooked in them, to end this argument. As far as the ingredients go: I believe that several people have posted here, that there is wheat in them in the states, but I am not sure about Canada.
  13. D was also my main and worst symptom, and it took me about 5-7 days to start to notice an obvious change in my stools and it was very noticable as I was having extreme D. But this could be different for a child, especially such a young child at that. I would try this for a couple of weeks and if that is not showing any different than try emliminating another...
  14. Wow I had know Idea, I am going to tell my doctor next time I am in that I think I should have one, and see what she says, I guess it is especially a good Idea if you are planning on having children in the near future. Thanks Ursa for the information KM
  15. Thanks for the imput, It makes sence to wait, but obviously doctors don't see that, mine anyway. Just curious though about the bone density scan, I have asked before about this. At what age should you have this done, I am 28, is that too early? Thanks KM
  16. Have you ever had a biopsy?? That would be the real test to get done, if your not digesting your food properly and you have had blood work already. The only crappy thing is you have to continue eating gluten until the biopsy. Good Luck KM
  17. Hi My doctor told me that since I am not showing deficiant in any vitamins that I can go ahead and start trying. Now I am not recommending this, but If you have never had any real issues with malnourishment, like I haven't, then isn't that the only real concern as to why you should wait. We tried for 6 months before I knew I had celiac with no luck, then...
  18. I have to get tested for lactose Intolerance and I have celiac disease. From what I understand the nurse told me I have to drink some sort of milk like substance(sweet tasting). & then do a breath test, the whole thing takes about 2 hours. Does anyone know if the substance that you have to drink is gluten free? I asked the nurse and she didn't know...
  19. Rachel I have a few mercury fillings that I want to get removed. If I was going to just have those teeth completely pulled out, which sound bad but there in the back so I really don't care at this point. Would it be necessary to take all the precautions? Or would that pretty much be the same as any other way. Just curious because I really want them out of...
  20. Hi I didn't change anything, but everytime I go into a topic now there is no comments there. They are all under the first post but I have to click on each one seperatly to see the comment, where as before all the comments in a topic were there just by clicking on the topic. Just want to get this back the way it was, Any ideas
  21. Hello I have recently been diagnosed and I am having a hard time educating my doctor about celiac, because she knows nothing about it. She doesn't seem to understand how celiac puts you at risk for other complications, she didn't even know that it can cause infertility? Which I am also having issues with right now. Anyways that is another topic Just wondering...
  22. Wow that sounds horrible and I am so sorry to hear what you have been going through. What age were you diagnosed with Celiac? I really don't know much about colitis I have only heard about it by researching celiac, and I read they do go hand in hand. What is the prognosis for Colitis and Treatment? If you are completely gluten free and still have diarrhea...
  23. Yes I have also been diagnosed with depression at a very young age and put on anti-depressants alot through my early 20's, I didn't find that they worked and eventually I got myself off of them and tried a more natural approach, but nothing seemed to work. I have only been gluten free for about 2.5 mths and I feel a big change in my levels of depression...
  24. Hello Hmmm this is very interesting. I had a similar situation with the leg pains deep inside my legs and they would always keep me up at night, now this was before I was diagnosed with celiac, since going gluten free I rarely get them and I also have been trying to get pregnant and am currently taking a high dose of folic acid and a prenatal. I have not...
