  1. Hugs and Good luck! I hope you find a way to help him feel better soon - i also don't think he shoud try gluten. My DD is similair with negative TTG Results. However with additional testing we found she had positive results to the antigliadin IGA and AntiGliadin IGG, these may not be consistent for celiac in all cases - but for us it shows her GLiadin allergy...
  2. Hang in there! It seems like the waiting is the hardest part. Whatever the results are, you are being a good mom by doing everything you can to help your kiddo feel better. Keep us updated!
  3. The sweat test is the most accurate test for Cystic Fibrosis. However it all depends on the lab that is doing the test and on how it is done. SOme places will just measure how much sweat is collected (the wrong way) and other test the contents of the sweat itself (the right way) Here in Utah if you have gotten a test done other than at primary CHildrens Hospital...
  4. My son sound much like my DD. She was the happiest baby out of all our kids. She was very healthy with no sign of any food allergies or issues. THen at around 20 months she stared to loose weight fast. WE were in the middle of a move at the time so by the time I found a doctor she had lost 4 pounds. The doctor told me it was just stress from moving, whe...
  5. we had my DD's tests done twice and both came back with the same results. TTG (above 10 was +) she was 0 Anti Gliadin IGA (above 4 was +) she was 6 Anti Gliadin IGG (above 9 was +) she was 74! SHe doesn't have the TTG because she is actually allergic to the gliadins (in GLuten and Milk (casein)) rather than traditional Celiac. The results are the same...
  6. It's a strange question to ask but - Do his Poops float? That is a sign tht he is not digesting his fats. My DN has Cystic Fibrosis and that it if how they found out is that she had orange greasy poop that floated, and got tested for it. There is such a similarity between cystic fibrosis and celiac. The doctors at our childrens hospital say the only real...
  7. The tortillas could also be very easily cross contamianted with the flour tortilas or may even have flour in them, our mex. restaruant around here adds wheat flour to the corn tortillas to make them softer, I would call the restaurant to see. MY kids also have food allergies and we NEVER take them to eat at a restarant becasue even when we talk to the chefs...
  8. I too have celiac and my kids unfortunaltly got my celiac and my DH food allergies. Meal time seems like a three ring circus at our house. I mostly get angry or sad when my craving foods are around like pizza or real homemade bread fresh from the oven, When that happens I just have to leave the room. Our family deals with it by not eating things that taste...
  9. That's Awesome! Can you find out if it is a state , district, or school policy? Our school needs to do this!
  10. DOn't give up! Try another brand! My kids have lots of food allergies, along with celiac. There is a lot they can't eat. It s hard at first to read the labels and just get frustrated at what you can't have. If you are in Utah, try a good earth store and get the Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips, you can melt them and mold them or just get creative! there is also...
  11. Lizz7711 Thakyou soo much for the info! It think it would be safe to say that she is allergic to milk now. I'm not sure what my allerist was thinking or what the pritein is they test that just says "whole cows milk" But if there is that must casein in milk, I will keep it all out of her diet. It may just be a systemic reaction because it makes her tummy...
  12. Make your Doctor listen to you! I am only 4' 10" so when my babies were very small and not even on the weight and height charts the doctors would say "well the Mom is very small" WE finally heard about celiac and had my girls tested. One of my DD's came up VERY positive. And guess what - after that I got tested too and came up positive too!
  13. My two DD's both have severe life threatening allergies to both peanuts and eggs. (so we do carry 4 epi-pens everywhere) WE are quite famliar to allergies! She was skin tested for Cows milk protien, Lactalbumin, and casein. She had absolutly no reaction to the first two but just reacted to the casein. He said that you won't react to casein without also...
  14. It can be realty hard at first - I don'tknow anything about strange symptoms, we improved right away. But I do think that it helps to stop thinking about all of the "can't have's" and write out a list of all the foods she liked before that are just naturally gluten free that she "can have" my kids list included: popsickles, juice, cut up fruit, coco pebbles...
  15. I always had horrible cramping growing up with my periods I would just curl up into the fetal postion and cry. In my later teens my periods actually stopped and would be gone for a few months at a time. When I got married it was very hard getting pg. because I wasn't ovulating anymore (doc. said) I had to take medicins to make me ovualte and get periods...
  16. Hey, I am new to this forum! My DD was diagonsed with year when she kept loosing weight and I asked for some testing to be done. We took her off of gluten and she started gaining weight and behaving sooo much better! But, she still had some tummy pains. A month ago we finally took her off of all dairy and she did better. Thursday we took her to the...
  17. Fire your Doctor and get a new one! Not every DOctor is a good one, we have switched often just because we move often, I have had my share of doctors that I wish I could take with me when we move and others we change as soon as we meet them. A good doctor will always listen to what you are saying about your kids, because you are their mother, and thus...
