ARCHIVED How To Tell Old Doctor?
hawaiimama posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have got myself into a rather complicated situation. I have my old pcp. He was really ignoring my issues/symptoms and after a converstion with him this past winter, I decieded to see out an alternative doc (also a physician). The second doc doesn't do primary care. The second physician changed a bunch of my meds, diag the ceilac etc. I would switch... -

I was down to 165 in april after being sick with a nasty virus so all told 5lbs. I run but have been slacking this last couple of weeks before the kids go back to school. I can feel the flab... -
That is very scary and I agree that taking it out to test it is not what you want to do.

ARCHIVED Going Off Gluten Before Biopsy
hawaiimama replied to Luhts's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was told to go off of it because the biopsy would take monhts. I ended up being gluten-free for 5 weeks before the biopsy which ended up negative. I suspect from a combo of bad biopsy and healing. -
ARCHIVED I Think My Dd Has Gluten Allergy
hawaiimama replied to momof7's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
She sounds like my DS although his antibodies were neg (but he had some so that alone makes me wonder). I can't believe you had to wait between dec of last year and now to get the blood test. Horrible. I hope you get an answer soon. Did she resume eating wheat over that period? -
I am tempted to buy a deep fryer. My kitchen is really small and I have storage issues but its SO tempting. I LOVE sweet potato fries and they just aren't the same in the oven. I actually kind of enjoy mixing my own flours I managed to make one last night that made a really awsome pizza crust that I think would have made really awsome french bread...

ARCHIVED Dropping Blood Pressure
hawaiimama replied to hawaiimama's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks a bunch. I had it as a teenager and then it went away in my 20's post child birth when the thryroid issues started. I def haven't had it again until this year. I guess that is part of why I wasn't so worried. I never really connected the dots as to what it was until now either. -
ARCHIVED Dropping Blood Pressure

nope no puffy. I feel perfectly fine except when I stand up. Been taking the BP all day. It def drops when I stand up but its a bit better than it was the other day when I was REALLY woozie (and didnt`get a bp measure on that). I`ve been waking up super congested with allergies but its super rag weed season here. I did get a really huge bruise on... -
Wow, I have never bought a gluten free cookie. They are stupidly expensive and I bake my own. My kids pig through cookies like there is no tomorrow. I'd be poor if I bought gluten-free cookies for all of us I baked 36 double chocolate /white chocoate chip cookies yesterday and I think there are 4 or 5 left. I also like making my own because I can...

ARCHIVED Dropping Blood Pressure
hawaiimama replied to hawaiimama's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes they are quite normal and rather digested (TMI i know) but that was always an issue with me beofre gluten-free. I feel quite good and perky. I used to nap every afternoon but feel great now except the falling bp when I stand up. In the past, I`ve been to the point where they have suggested bp meds which I`ve always missed but the skin of my teeth... -

What about a pesto sauce. that is pretty easy. I do a spicy thai chili chicken pizza with a thai sauce instead of tomato, goat cheese, broccoli and proschuto (sp). I generally put sundried tomato on it too. Its YUMMY. -

I've been anemic for years and years but at last count my ferritin had gone up from 9 to 15 (july). What is H/H? -
I started on the gluten-free died in june. I feel quite good. It seems to have caused my blood pressure to drop. I always had upper normal bp in the 140/85 ish range where the doc always warns me about it being high. Its been dropping since going gluten-free. Its now around 100/70. I am also having it drop further when I stand up. Its crazy, I nearly...

hawaiimama posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Does anyone know if any of the provincial health care systems cover gene testing? I'm particularily intersted in Ontario. Also if I have to go do enterolab or the like, does anyone know if its possible to ship that through the boarder? -

hawaiimama replied to GlutenFree2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I knew. Deep down in there I knew it would be postiive so when he told me I wasn't the least bit suprised. I think I was more shocked when he told me he wanted me to have the test. Its funny becuase that morning I was going to grab a donut with my coffee before I had my appt and decied that I likely should becase I knew what was coming. I mourn that... -

ARCHIVED Can Someone Clearly Explain Mild Dh?
hawaiimama replied to Mballerina's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I have JUST clued into the fact I likely have DH. I'm reading the Dr Green book and he talks about it. I had positive ttg and positive gliadin antibodies but a neg biopsy. I have the thryoid issuse too. He says in this book that that is often the case with DH. Low and behold, I have the rash on my behind and have for YEARS. I thought it was from sanitary... -
ARCHIVED Girls Question On Sanitary Products
hawaiimama replied to hawaiimama's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
ah thank you. -
I am going to ask the doc this when I see him but...here goes WAY TMI. I have a rash on my behind mostly cheeks that gets way worse during my mensus. I think its linked to sanitary products. I read somewhere that diapers have wheat byproducts in the gel and I'm wondering if pads do too. I never connected this rash to celiac but now I'm wondering if its...

ARCHIVED How Do You All Survive?
hawaiimama replied to glutenfreegirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
wow I would have pointedly asked her why she was asking... you never know what she might have said. My husband is chinese and I am not. We had this new neighoubr move in and she saw my kids and said "oh your kids are chinese" I was HUGELY offended. I week or so later, I saw her kids who were also chinese. What I took as completley rude wasn't at all...
