  1. Does anyone have a doc in toronto that they can PM me with a recommendation? Many thanks
  2. no its not in a CBC. Ferritin is your iron stores. If it gets low your hemoglobin start getting smaller because your body has less stored iron to call upon. hemoglobin is in a cbc though.
  3. nope have never as much as lit a cigarette let alone ever smoked one. I have had heart tests too and its all fine. Its definatley blood realted with me. Happened to my friend when she was preg too. She was really freaked out by it and I told her to ask them to test her iron and it was low.
  4. Oh yes, almost constant headaches for oh the last 20 years or so... And always having a horrid hangover after having a single beer. I could never figure out why I oculd have several glasses of wine and no hangover but a single beer woudl do me in with a horrid throbbing headache. I have had one headache since going gluten-free 7 weeks ago and I'm coming...
  5. I get weird heart beast when my ferritin is really low. I think it has something to do with oxygen in my blood or small hemoglobin. Never fails. I can tell that my ferritin is low from the way my heart feels. Am I a freak?
  6. I have this happen when my ferritin is in the toilet.
  7. I have the same sort of situation. Four weeks gluten-free and was told on friday that the biopsy was "normal". I saw on the report after the procedure that they said they saw scalloping. I can't find anything that says you'd have scalloping w/o damage and I can't find any studies that actually say villi regrow in this amount of time. I've only found stuff...
  8. I have copies of the bloodwork from my doc. He's good about that. I have no idea how to get copies form the hospital - the person I talked to was downright rude. I hoping the nutritionist is good and has copies of my tests So no false positives from thyroid disease?
  9. My family doc is pretty sure I have celiac. He ran these test and this is the results: Antigliadin IgA 17 normal is <20 and\ IgG 59 normal is <20 Anti-tissue Transglutaminase Antibody (tTG) IgA 74 normal is <20 When he told me restults, he said you have celiac. Don't ever let anyone ever tell you you don't. He told me I MUST go gulten...
  10. When i eat soy, I get this feeling in my stomach like its just sititng there not moving and I get a weird taste in my mouth. I seem to be quite sensitve to it. I went to Starbucks one day, and my friend had a soy latte before me. They wiped the thing down then made mine. I had "that" stomach ache that afternoon and I couldn't figure out why but realized...
  11. oh reading this is giving me a stomach ache. I seem to be able to eat fermented soy in small quantities but anything with any substatial amount I feel horrid. I've know about this for years. I have no overt celiac symptoms but I suspect I feel how a lot of you feel when you eat wheat when I eat soy. I made some brownies for the first time the other...
  12. I think I'd get a new GI after all of that! I'm waiting too for my results although I read the report on my stomach after the biopsy that said "scalloping" so I'm guessing the biopsy will be positive. At least you have your answer!
  13. yes his blood work was neg but they only tested him for transglutimase (sp?)
  14. He is pretty much on it by default because of me but that is only in the last couple of weeks or so. I only found out myself the end of june and I was away from him for a good part of July. His doc is away until sept. I took him to the walk in doc we see and had the blood work but I don't feel comfortable enough with him to ask for the referal (I don't...
  15. He will be 5 in october. He's 32 lbs and 38" tall, wears size 2/3 clothes. Those undies he has on are a 2. My other son was 40lbs before he was 2 and I think this guy is same hight now that my older one was at 2 because he's wearing those clothes.
  16. Here are some pics of my DS. You can see how painfully skinny he is. (not quite sure how to add pics so pls forgive what might be a mess). http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e202/naw...li/DSC_4289.webp http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e202/naw...li/DSC_4283.webp http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e202/naw...li/DSC_4288.webp http://i40.photobucket.com...
  17. Thanks Ursa! I just noticed your in Ont, I'm in Toronto. I'm finding it really hard here with our lack of available testing/knowledge of docs of celiac. I'm thinking I should ask for a consult with a GI at Sick Kids for my little guy.
  18. My little guy did have iron issues the last time it was tested (I think he was 2.5 ish). The ped we saw as a consult seemed to think it was leftover from my anemia when I was preg with him. He only had the transglutimase IgG and IgA tests both of which were totally negative as in zero. He didn't have the gliadin tests. The other really weird thing...
  19. Did your kids have positive or negative blood work? I'm curious about method of diagnosis. My 4.5 year old is 32 lbs (weighs now what my oldest weighed at about 15 months) and REALLY small and has been since he was a year or so. He was 14lbs at a year and was 8lbs 4oz at birth and lost a lot of weight at birth and didn't regain it for ages. He was the...
  20. Oh me too. I've had HORRID luck. I hope we get an answer. I've tried making two of the Bette Hagman breads and am on my second loaf today. BLECH. I really want a grilled cheese.
  21. I had the diagnos=techs test for gliadin and it came back negative. My blood work was wildly positive and I had an endoscopy with scalloping.
  22. I have recently been diagosed as celiac. I've had my kids blood tested and all are negative and i'm meeting with doc on monday to discuss their results. I'm wondering, at some point should they be retested? What is the protocol on this. Family doc really had no clue and it will be a while before I see GI to ask him.
  23. sorghum (SP) is found in Indian markets as Juwar. I pay $1.97 for a two pound bag. And Millet is same price and sold as bajri flour. I buy my thai rice flour at the chinese grocery and its 69 cents for a one a pound bag. I feel silly going in and buying ten single pound bags but oh well. I also buy all my rice noodles at the chinese supermarket too...
  24. My ferritin was 2 at one point and all I was told to do was take more iron. Doc didn't believe me that the stupid iron pills were doing NOTHING for me. I was so anemic I had no color at all the the inside of my eyelids. I'm waiting for the boost out of anemia too. I'm hoping the diet with the iron pills finally does something in that dept
  25. much to my shock and amazement, I have an appt for the biopsy next thurdsay. I somehow got bumped to the top of the list without even asking. Yee Haw
