  1. Hmmm, the penis song eh? Anal what? Well, if that was your best shot, be warned...I'm not that easy to scare away, though confused is something that happens to me quite regularly...that and getting myself wedged in lavatory doors. That takes talent since I'm a whapping 120lbs. What would people think if I got wedged WHILE singing the penis song? Would...
  2. Wow-weeeeee! This is the longest lasting thread ever invented!!! And it's packed with Silliness of all varieties. 2 YEARS of silliness. That's like, extra, extra silly. I suppose you couldn't expect less from a silly-ack! (If it's a silly-ack, does that mean it's silly and scary all at once?) Ok, I'll go back to my corner now. -Anna
  3. To date I have been a very lucky parent. Every parent seems to have one of "those" stories (of how their child embarrassed them to death in a public place), proudly tucked away under their belt. These are the sort of points that adult caretakers earn so that on the day their offspring turns 16, mom or dad can march around their children's newest friends and...
  4. Well shoot. If 72% of the population are O+ and A+ and that's the majority of blood types here, this tells us nothing. LOL. Oh well, back to the drawing board. -Anna
  5. Just recently we have come to discover that my husband has narcolepsy. His sleep problems have caused many problems both at home and at work, but we had previously just chalked it up to him being lazy or out of control of himself for no good reason (poor guy!) When I found out that I had celiac, Hubby joined in and went gluten free too. The narcolepsy went...
  6. A Dr. recently told me that people with O type blood are more prone to wheat/gluten/casein allergies and conditions. Those with O blood types do better eating meats and vegetables. My whole family (hubby, kids, and myself) are all O+. I'm just curious to find out what blood type other celiacs are. If you are an O blood type, do you find it easier to process...
  7. When I first learned that I had Celiac, Hubby was very supportive. He told me that he would be more than happy to go gluten free with me, whenever he ate at home, but wouldn't mind having a little gluten on the side every once in a while. Or - as he put it - "I thought I could have my little grainy mistress on the side." Only days after going gluten...
  8. I hated pork chops up until I moved out of my parents house for the same reason - and the sad thing was that my mother did sear them first. They were still too dry and chewy to stand. I found a supermarket that sells smoked pork chops, just season and heat in the oven. They are sooo moist and fall aparty. I'll never look at chops the same again. -Anna
  9. AHAHAHA! No Joke?! How funny to hear that I am not the only one with this problem. My skin sloughed off on the insides of my cheeks every time I brushed my teeth. It didn't hurt and to be brutally honest, I came to kind of enjoy it after a while. I felt more...uhh...clean, I guess. I figured it was a reaction to my toothpaste (crest) but this is very...
  10. I get to feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the cooking but I have also been baking up a blue streak. What part of cooking don't you like? If it takes too much time or effort, there are some really easy, tasty meals that can be made that will make you forget that you are gluten free. Baked chicken thighs, wings, drums: Fill baking pan with 1 inch water...
  11. Ok, I have to admit it. I HATE fish. Deep fat fried and covered in so many additives that you can't even taste the fish is acceptable to my tastebuds but otherwise it's not even worth it. Lately I have been trying to talk myself into the idea of trying to get used to eating fish because eating too much rice makes me feel gross and one can only eat so much...
  12. Great big hugs to you. I know we have all had these moments and it's so very, very hard. As a general rule I do ok. I have been baking so many gluten free goodies that taste like regular food or better than what I used to eat so it has been hard to miss my old life when I'm at home. I can tell you though that I get really exhausted with cooking and curse...
  13. I know this is a question that no one can answer with certainty, but how long might it take for all of my joint pain/edema to go away? I had many, many symptoms and most of them have faded or are totally gone and I have been gluten free for less than 1 month. The joint pain hasn't changed. I had horrible leg cramps and those are gone, but the pain is still...
  14. I need to find some good brands, and whole foods doesn't seem to carry much. The one BBQ we found there tasted a little "interesting." Help! I'm having major Teriyaki-pineapple baked chicken withdrawls! -Anna
  15. This really helped me. I guess deciding to stop looking back at the decisions I have made in the past is probably what is most healthy for the present and future. I do know that seeing babies will give me that "ping." Adoption is certainly an option and something that I was super gung-ho about before I had so many bonding issues with our celiac son. I...
  16. Our 2 year old is also a celiac, which is really such a blessing because he has been so much better since we discovered his celiac. -Anna
  17. So...every day I have been visiting this board and in the upper left corner there has been an ad sitting there, taunting me! It says "We heard you - Rice Chex are now gluten free!" Hurray! I love Rice Chex! So I went to the store today and recalling the ad, I stopped in the cereal isle to check out rice chex. I look on the side for a list of ingredients...
  18. I was diagnosed with celiac a little less than a month ago after a huge struggle with my health. I had managed 3 pregnancies with two live births in the past 3 years before finding out about celiac but they took a major toll on me and my babies. With two out of the three pregnancies I hemorrhaged - once while taking blood thinners and nearly died from it...
  19. I was always cold before going gluten free. I couldn't stand air conditioning. My joints would hurt so badly and become so stiff from the 70 degree "cold" air that I would have to take hot bathes every night before bed or I couldn't sleep. Even when I sat in front of a heater to warm up or sat in a warm car, my knees and limbs still felt like ice. I tried...
  20. I'm pretty new to being a celiac but I can say with great confidence that I have always been attached too food. I used to have food aggression issues and got defensive when anyone else in the house ate my (our) food. I really worked on that for years and got a lot of progress in that area. Now I am starting to experience that same anxiety about going out...
  21. I know I would probably be in the same boat as you if my symptoms had not become unbareable to live with. For that I thank God for making me sooo sick before showing me how to get better. Sometimes knowing is so hard to accept when it feels like there is no reward for your efforts and I can't imagine being in that boat. At the same time, I know that celiac...
  22. Hmmmm...maybe I should inspect my mixer more closely and see if maybe this is my problem too. But then....we wouldn't have any excuse to keep the hubby around! LOL! -Anna
  23. I was not really sure that I could provide any advice regarding your delimma until i got to the part of your post where you stated that your boss and colleagues don't know that you have celiac. I think that it's unreasonable to expect anyone to be supportive of you when they have no concept of the areas in which you need support. I know it might initially...
  24. It feels sooo good to finally have an answer, doesn't it? Your symptoms sound so very, very similar to mine. It blows my mind to think that gluten could mess someone over so psycologically. I tried very hard to hold myself together and even tried as hard as I could to continue to do the things I love and see the people I love but after a while I realized...
  25. "Bread & marriage, bread & marriage...go together like a horse and carriage..." Ok, I have a funny story to share. Every Sunday since I found out I had to go gluten free Hubby and I have made a tradition of making a big batch of gluten free bread (Garbanzo Bean) after the kids are in bed. Hubby was supportive of not having gluten in the house...
