  1. Meeee toooo I felt so much better right away and didn't trust it for months, just couldn't believe gluten had been the problem for all these years (decades). The most difficult thing for me right now is tapering off the antidepressant - was at 250mg a year ago (for 17 years), and now on 87.5mg, and slowly tapering to nothing. The withdrawal (or rebound...
  2. Hi, I'm in Vancouver, BC. I diagnosed myself a year and a half ago and have yet to meet another live person with Celiac Disease, but glad to find support here in the ether. I haven't had any tests and my doc just said if I feel better than just stay gluten-free.
  3. Yup, me too with the IBS diagnoses. I also tried everything- ibs drugs, macrobiotic diet, yeast-free diet, 17 years of antidepressants, colonics, a naturopath, psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, fiber, laxatives, transcendental meditation... I too think is IBS is Celiac Disease.
  4. Hi Laker, I'm sorry you feel so ill. I think your system is probably extra sensitive now that you've been gluten free for a year, so it will take at least a week, probably more for this to clear from your system no matter what you do, but I would try to take some kind of healing action everyday, such as digestive enzymes, magnesium/calcium supplements...
  5. [font="Tahoma"]I too felt better almost immediately after going gluten-free. It's been a year and half for me and I think I've become better at avoiding gluten and so have more stretches of feeling well recently, which means for me - no stomachache(due to gas and "constipation", bloating) and resulting nausea, fatigue, depression, achy muscles and joints...
  6. I'm checking to see if it's there now.
  7. Thank you. Okay, I'll see if I can figure that out If not, I'll write again.
  8. I wrote some background info about myself, as others have done (it shows up often in small coloured font below posts), but I don't see it showing up. Can you see it and I can't?
  9. I know how you feel. I've been gluten-free about a year and a half now and now I know it is not normal to have a bloated belly. Check the ingredients in any vitamins or supplements you might be taking. It sure sounds to me like you are getting inadvertently glutened. Best.
  10. I love those rice wrappers too. I like to double them up for added toughness, but they are surprisingly resilient for such a fragile looking sheet. I like to fill with refried beans, ground beef, lettuce, salsa...I love the fruit and dip idea. I'll try this soon.
  11. Hi There, Check out glutenfreegirandthechef.com I believe is the site. She has many great, tested and easy gluten-free recipes. She is a very enthusiatic cook with a love for fresh ingredients and she has a small child. She is five years gluten free. I made some really yummy quinoia crackers based on her recipe- using some cooked quioia, a mix...
  12. I don't know if you'll see this, but could you tell me what is msm?
  13. Thank you for the information on silica. Over the past year and a half I have been trying all sorts of mainly physical means to relieve chronic right inner "chicken wing" pain in my right upper back (worse when glutened)- stretching, exercising, yoga, ice packs, massage, rolling on an egg shaped rock (very effective), a new bed and mattress, and ibuprofen...
  14. I meant to add, these fermented veggies can be cooked. I'm not sure if these reduces their effectiveness, but I like to put kimchee in a soup or stew for instance. It can be found in any Asian grocery, in the refrigerated section.
  15. Hi, I've been gluten free for a year and a half now and think kimchee helped to heal my gut and helps it when I get glutened (not that I'll eat it when I feel sick). It is the Korean version of sauerkraut. Koreans swear by it for health and taste. It is fermented Asian cabbage with a hot chili spice (bonus healing). Fermented veggies have similar properties...
  16. Gotcha, Here it is. I think I've figured out the problem- somehow I've signed up once in '08 and again in '09. I recalled my first attempt was unsuccessful. If this can't be helped, that's okay. Tx.
  17. I did write a doctor and a naturopath who misdiagnosed me, and enclosed an information sheet that I compiled on Celiac Disease. I could have used some of your restraint at the time, as I recall rashly sending it off with great angry enthusiasm and wish I'd have edited. It was quite early into my self-diagnosis. But I've kept that information sheet and...
  18. Under "Coping With". I should have 2-3 more posts that it says.
  19. Hi, Thank you for your quick response. I'm not sure how to link to it, so I cut and pasted it, as follows: But to find it, go to Coping under Forums, then type in "Zoloft" and it will come up. 20. Hi there, Could someone tell me why it says I have only made 1 post in my info on the side bar and inside my profile, when I know I've made more, i.e. Nov 16, 2009 - weaning off of zoloft...", which I can find when I search for it - proof. Thank you. (:
  21. About a week for me too.
