  1. I've been wanting to try that recipe! I used up my leftover turkey and broth last night with this, and we're having the leftovers tonight. Yum! http://mamameglutenfree.blogspot.com/
  2. I've found the Bob's Red Mill mix turns out very thick cornbread. Too thick for my liking, and it seems to have a stronger "xanthan gum" feel when you chew it, but it doesn't taste too bad.
  3. Makes sense, thanks!
  4. I wasn't really aware of what this entailed when I noticed the "blog" feature on my profile. I thought it might be a place to put my blog site, but now I see it's an actual blog within the celiac.com community. Neat! Anyway, I do have a recipe blog, so I guess I'll share the site here: Open Original Shared Link
  5. I've been curious about this bread machine. I have one I really like that doesn't have a gluten-free cycle but I don't usually do the entire cycle in it. I usually use it for dough or preserves. Do you think it's worth it to have one with a specific gluten-free cycle over one that doesn't?
  6. I never cared for Jiffy cornbread mix, so maybe I can't help you on that, but I do enjoy a good cornbread! I think our cornbread is so much better now gluten-free. I noticed the above recipes use the Pamela's baking mix. Mine uses the Pamela's bread mix & flour blend. It doesn't take long to mix up, so if you'd like to try it, here it is: Open Original...
  7. I'm thinking that celiac won't get you out of it unless they don't let you bring your own meal. I'd explain that I couldn't eat the food provided and if that's a problem then I can't do it.
  8. I just got accidentally glutened about an hour ago and am praying I don't have a bad reaction. I've been gluten-free since Jan. and have been accidentally glutened twice since then and felt terrible for about two days. This was from a present, of all things! A friend sent me a case of Nana's cookies for my birthday, knowing Nana's makes gluten-free...
  9. Thank you!
  10. I have read several posts on this forum regarding Wendy's as well as their frosty, but I was wondering if anyone has tried the frosty since they have the new twisted ones with gluten ingredients? I may eat there for the first time this weekend (since being gluten-free) and didn't know if they use the same machine to mix the twisted and the regular, or if...
  11. I would still be interested in knowing if anyone has experience with this brand, but here's the response I just received regarding three flavors, FYI: Hello, The manufacturers of the ingredients that we purchase from are confidential. We have found that three of our flavors are gluten free. They are Cotton Candy, Black Cherry and Spearmint. The allergen...
  12. Our local sno cone stand uses Southern Snow syrup. I looked at the label and of course the only questionable ingredient is "flavors." I contacted Southern Snow and here's what I've been told: "We do not add any gluten to our flavors when they are made. However, I do not know if the the ingredients that we use to make our flavors contain gluten. So I...
  13. His dr. didn't do a genetic test on him. They dx through I guess other blood work and also the biopsy. His numbers were really high in the blood work, but I know they didn't do a genetic test on him. He's going to see about getting it done now so insurance can pay for it and we won't have to do enterolab with him. Since the girls are so young, we felt the...
  14. We did the genetic tests on our two daughters, ages 5 and 2, with Enterolab. We just got the results back and they were the same for both daughters. I'm having trouble interpreting them despite all the info provided from the website link provided. Could you help me? Thanks! Also, I take this to mean that I have at least one gluten sensitivity gene? My husband...
  15. I just ordered the genetic test from Enterolab for my two daughters, ages 5 and 2. (My husband was recently diagnosed w/Celiac w/blood tests and biopsy.) This is the one to get according to my research and from talking with an Enterolab employee. We'll do stool tests if the genetic comes back with something. Anyway, she told me that the instructions say...
  16. Thank you so much! I'm so thankful for the Internet, lol! I've been on it pretty much non-stop the last few days trying to learn as much as I can.
  17. Hi there! I've posted this in a couple of other places but I guess I've been posting them in the wrong forums. I hope this isn't bad that I've done this, lol! I'm just so new to this and anxious to have information! Extracts (pure vanilla, almond, etc. -- no colorings)? I mostly use Watkins extracts and thankfully a lot of Watkins products are gluten-free...
  18. Thank you for posting this! I posted one a couple down from you yesterday titled "Extracts" and I'm trying to get more information as well. If you don't mind, I'll paste my post here and maybe I'll get some more advice as well. Hi there! I know this has probably been discussed so much, and I did find some of it on a search, but I'm new to all of this and...
  19. Anyone else have ideas on this? Maybe I should post this on the cooking forum? Thank you!
  20. Thank you for that, we'll consider it! My husband is the one who was just diagnosed, and he has no symptoms. His liver enzymes have been elevated for a few years and his father was Dx with celiac a few months ago. My husband got tested and came back positive for it. I don't think any other food allergies are a problem, but we'll keep it in mind.
  21. Hi there! I know this has probably been discussed so much, and I did find some of it on a search, but I'm new to all of this and was hoping you could help. Extracts (pure vanilla, almond, etc. -- no colorings)? I mostly use Watkins extracts and thankfully a lot of Watkins products are gluten-free but the extracts (except the peanut butter flavor) aren...
  22. No, I haven't been tested. To my knowledge, no one on either side of my family has any issues with Celiac, although I realize that doesn't mean it's not there and misdiagnosed or something. Also, I've been tested for a huge amount of auto-immune disorders and other things by a reproductive endocrinologist and this never came up. I don't have infertility,...
  23. Hi there! I'm new here and have some questions I'm hoping someone can help me with. First I'll give you some history: My husband (37) has had elevated liver enzymes in his blood work for several years now. Not alarmingly high, but high enough to be out of the normal range. Otherwise, he's very healthy. They've run many tests, CT scans, ultrasounds etc. without...
