  1. The only questionable ingredient was distilled vinegar, which I thought had been determined to be safe. Otherwise, the label lists "modified corn starch." My local grocery store has offered to keep my own bottle of sweet n sour sauce for me at the Chinese dept., and also let me know that I can call ahead of time to have them make some steamed rice and...
  2. I admit, I have not been 100% compliant. I am finding it very hard to adjust my mental attitude, since I used to be able to eat everything. I have found that if I ingest some barley (I assume it was barley in the Steak n Shake milkshake, anyway), I have a terrible reaction--immediate cramping, diarrhea, etc. If I have wheat, however, it doesn't affect...
  3. Well, I tried it, and it was gross regardless of whether it has gluten or not. Guess it won't be a worry!
  4. I thought that "caramel color," which I believe I saw in the ingredients list of Yoplait vanilla yogurt, was gluten? Am I mistaken? (About either caramel color being gluten or yoplait having caramel color, that is.)
  5. It's "broccoli cheddar", which, if the same as "creamy broccoli cheddar", IS on that list. Thanks for the link!
  6. I found some soup at SuperTarget under the name "Carb Tastic." The label looks pretty safe to me--it's broccoli cheese soup, and it looks like they used potato flakes as the thickening agent. At the end it says "wheat gluten free." I don't know if I should be excited to find broccoli cheddar soup that's gluten free, or if it's "wheat" gluten free but...
  7. I think I've identified myself as going through the "five stages of grief" as it relates to my old, gluten eating ways. First there was the denial: "It won't really hurt, it's just a little bit." Then anger: "Wheat! What a stupid thing to have an intolerance to! Bread is the staff of life!" Then bargaining, which I suspect I'm in right now...because...
  8. Are those codes for "still more things that contain glutens"?
  9. I'm a candy-o-holic, and I think giving up sweets would be the hardest part for me of going gluten-free. What mainstream candies are gluten-free? It seems to me that the following: Nestle Crunch Hershey's milk chocolate Hersheys' Kisses Hershey's Hugs Butterfinger Snickers Milky Way ARE gluten-free, but I'm afraid there's gluten hidden in them...
  10. Hello! I'm newly diagnosed, so I'm sure I don't have as much to say as others yet, but I wanted to let you know that I'm pretty sure I've had celiac for a while (based on some symptoms that have come and gone, like diarrhea for months at a time), and I still managed to have two healthy pregnancies.
  11. My name is Sharon, and I just had some bloodwork and a colonoscopy and endoscopy done last month. My doctor has about 80% certainty that I have celiac, so he suggested I go gluten free for 6 months, and then do another biopsy. I'm finding switching over to the gluten-free diet to be challenging, in the least. It's frustrating that gluten-free foods are...
