  1. Altoids mints (reglaur) are safe and gluten-free. Their mini- sugar free Altoids have "wheat malto-dextrin", some say it doesnt matter the source of the maltodextrin because of all of the processing...but i just stay away. Not sure if the Altoids gum is gluten-free.
  2. Mine is shorter-- so your Drs theory works for me!
  3. If you do not have a dish washer I would just have your own seperate plates/ utencils that are washed with a different spounge. I didnt start feeling better until i did this-- just imagine the gluten being washed on the spounge staying there and then you eating everything off that plate. Even if it was rinsed with water...I still think it would be contaminated...
  4. Hello! I am 7 weeks Gluten Free... and have wondered the same thing. I think that the first thing is getting the hang of it. I was able to have a 100% gluten free thanksgiving (I cooked everything myself), but then was glutened by a digestive enzyme. I would recommend only taking 1 multi-vitamin and then maybe an Iorn supplement (you want a timed release...
  5. Thanks for the website info. I am Vegan for health reason-- thats why i want to know if it will be healthier for me to not be vegan right now, while I am recovering. I can never see myself permenently being a meat eater, but I wanted to know if it might help my body get what it needs right now. It also gives me a pure product-- meaning it can be broiled...
  6. Thanks guys, that's helpful to know. Would it be GOOD for recovery to start eating some meat/ fish? If it really would help then I will probably abandon my vegan ways, at least for a while. I will do anything to help with my recovery, just not sure what will really help.
  7. Hey Guys, I have been Vegan for the past 10 months now and I really have enjoyed it although with the new gluten free diet it has been very hard. I keep thinking that I'm getting glutened accidentally and Soy is hard on digestion so I was thinking about starting to eat some fish a few times a week and maybe eggs too. I am not allergic to eggs. Would...
  8. Hang in there. I'm having the same problem. I've been gluten free going on 5 weeks and I will feel horrible for a few days then have one good day, then back to horrible. Definetly be VERY careful and check EVERY label. I am still missing things as little as they are they really do make a huge difference. Its going to take some time, so try to be patient...
  9. Hey what about sponges? My roomate is NOT gluten free and washes his dishes with the same sponge and i wash mine with--and we share dishes. Could there be gluten on the sponge that leaves the residue on the plates? Or am i just being paranoid now?
  10. Hi everyone, I have been gluten free for a month now. The first two weeks felts SO good, although I wasnt eating alot of solid food. Alot of smoothies and then solid foods with snacks and dinner (For the first week and a half). Then I got a cold I took DayQuil and cough drops-- both which were gluten free and my costipation came back (which can be expected...
  11. Hi there! This is an interesting question. I actually DONT think those types of questions can be asked. They can ask if you are able to complete the tasks required for a job (which if you cant, then lets look for a different job), but they cannot ask you about your health in detail. You could sue them if they did not hire you based on the fact that you...
  12. I use this rice protein shake that I really like. I have never had any problems with it upsetting my stomach. It is vegan and gluten free..not sure about the Soy, but pretty sure its soy free. You can order it online or they have it at Whole Foods. I use the vanilla flavor-- havent tried the other ones. Open Original Shared Link
  13. Hi Everyone! I am newly diagnosed Celiac (4 weeks and still truckin). What in my kitchen needs to go? I bought new cutting boards (plastic), and am not using any wooden spoons. Not using my old teflon pans (what is old....)? If the surface looks visibly smooth is it ok to use? I am also using foil over any cookie sheets etc to help with contamination...
  14. I'm a runner! The biggest thing is going to be your Iron. Female runners have a huge problem with iron because the pounding actullay breaks apart your red blood cells, and having Celiac makes it ever worse. So make sure you eat alot of spinich and I'd try to get as much fresh carrot juice as possibe (you want to have vitamin C with your iron to help with...
  15. Dr Gary Grey is supose to be one of the best in the country. He is down at Stanford-- I havent seen him yet but am recently diagnosed and have been sent to him! Any luck on the nurtionist? I still need one.
  16. Only some of them are gluten free. I emailed them and they said some were and some weren't so make sure to check
  17. If you have Celiac-- it is also very common to have low blood iron levels= you feel cold easily. If you have gone on a gluten free diet your body is probably starting to have a higher iron level= you feel warmer again. It could just be that you were anemic and even if it was only slightly you would feel a change in your body's temperature.
  18. This is how i felt when I was ON gluten before i was diagnosed. It has acutally gotten alot better since (only 2 weeks) but, I have been feeling depressed and anxious. I think that some emotional symptoms are normal-- this is a big life change and everyone deals with it differently. I would make more time for yourself to really relax and get in touch...
  19. Yea-- That is what i have been told by every Dr I have ever talked to about Celiac. Which makes sense-- if it hurts the villi in your intestines, causing negetive reactions-- it would actually have to come in contact with your intestines. SO-- chapsticks and lip stick, you should change but lotion and other topical products shouldnt effect you.
