  1. Hi Everyone, Im a week in and really struggling on some fronts. This past weekend I had zero energy...walking to my front door was tasking. I started adding zuchinni for a few days then apples and that has given me more energy. The thing I have really been struggling with is my C. My medication i usually take is illegal and is a stimulant lax which I am...
  2. Thanks for all the help guys. I made bread last night with a recipe from pecan bread that is "nut free" and substituted Beets for the carrotts. It didnt come out fluffy like it was supose to (probably because of the additional liquid in beets. I ate it this morning....not my new favorite thing-- but hopefully it will help. I also added the stewed prune juice...
  3. Hi Ali, I have seen that page and am curious about "the muffins" she asks you to introduce...WHICH MUFFINS!? I spend probably half my day yesterday trying to figure out WHICH muffins? its alittle vague. There are a few muffin recipes but they all include nut flour...which only on day 3, I wouldnt think I would be ready for??? Well im not 100% sure...
  4. I was wondering if any of you have used the SCD to help you over come Constipation. This is my primary symptom and the book really only talks about D. It uses D as an indicator for when moving to the next step in appropriate etc. I think it takes longer to heal from Chronic C then from D-- as I would expect it to be several months before I'd see my C go away...
  5. All of my dishes, cookware etc is all seperate from my gluten eating roomate. We dont have a dish washer, so i just dont feel like its a good idea (we even use seperate sponges). I knew that if i didnt do that, every time i would get sick I would wonder if it was from the dishes. I just bought myself three dishes, bowls, sets of silver ware, and it was...
  6. not redundant at all-- this is a place for sharing, so feel free to share! There are multiple strains of yeast that can be involved in candida over growth and there are specific herbs etc that can be effective in killing each one. When I was seeing a natropathic DR she had a stool test done on me which revealed yeast over growth and the specific strain...
  7. Hi everyone, today is my first offical day on the SCD. I am following the suggested Intro diet provided by pecanbread.com. They dont mention the dry curdled cheese or yogurt in the steps they outlined (it isn't terribly complete, but offeres some good guidelines). I am doing the yogurt-- but wasnt sure if the dry curddle cheese is something that I...
  8. Hi Ali, Thanks for your post. You can just call me Whitney or W-- lol-- wschmucks is alittle confusing. Thanks for your message. I def understand it is a long term commitment and if it makes me feel better that is just fine with me :-) I am going to follow the introduction proposed by PecanBread and see how that goes. I am not really sure how to handle...
  9. Hi Everyone, I am joining the SCD club. I am reading the BTVC book now and practicing my yogurt making skills before I start next week. The BTVC doesnt outline the introduction diet or the steps to introducing foods. I found a wonderful chart on PecanBread site that I think I will follow. The book also refrences D throughout but doesnt make much mention...
  10. Hi Bea, Yes I do, unfortuantly it hasnt worked very well. I took large doses of the powdered form of both magnesium and C mixed with water several times a day and it worked for a while, then stopped. I take amitiza and Dr Schulze intestinal formula (stimulant) and that is the ONLY thing that has worked for me. I am going on the SCD next week because I...
  11. Maybe then they should have a label that reads "gluten free....to some". Lol. I think they should switch to no gluten ingredients (that would be more accurate and cuase me to read back of box right away). Yes-- we should all double check the box for ourselves. I know they are TRYING to help-- but they can potenitally be harmful to not call more attention...
  12. Great! Thanks!
  13. Hi Bea, You have recommended this before to help with constipation. How much of each do you take? Do you recommend a dose or any brands? Thanks!
  14. Hey there! If you have only been gluten-free for a week it might be a good idea to go on the paleo diet. I am 3.5 months in and am thinking about it now. Please remember though that becuase youre so new-- its going take a while (a few months) to feel like youre on your way to getting better. This is a long process. I would DEF take out the milk if youre...
  15. Thanks for your response. I should have included-- that I was a strict Vegan for a year during all of this and have in the past few months added limited dairy (I added it in high doses for 2 weeks, then went 100% off for 3 weeks and noticed no change what so ever). I did the same with eggs and noticed no change in my BM or in any other symptoms i had...
  16. Hey Guys, My major sympotoms are chronic constipation, bloating, neasuea. I had a few things going on prior to my diagnosis. #1 i had an intestinal bacterial infection (now gone), #2 small amount of yeast over growth (now gone), #3 had food sensetivity test done about 9 months ago #4 later diagnosed Celiac. OK- So i was told the food sensetivities ...
  17. Hey any update from the company? I have used my vanilla powder a few times since this post and have felt ok, my symptoms can be unreliable though.
  18. I just bought some Kroger's Ham and it said Gluten Free right on the bag. It was only .98 cents and tasted pretty yummy! Also, from the above post , I thought there had been some controversy with Hillshire Farms...wasnt there an article where thier gluten-free products were very unreliable? It could have been another brand...sorry to confuse if it was...
  19. Welcome, this board REALLY helps. I would feel so lost without it. The next few months are going to be hard. Just read as much as you can, dont eat out at resturants and try to eat as much whole food as possible so you dont get glutened. I got glutened probably every week for the first 6 weeks...then it stopped....and i got better at it. Try to be patient...
  20. Hey Guys-- Side note: I just posted in the "labels and ingredients section", that Starbucks is in the middle of a "soy milk transition" (i thought it was funny that they called it that). They will no longer be using Silk, it will be replaced with a non-branded soy milk, which I called today to confirm IS gluten free. I was nervous at first. I have...
  21. Hi Everyone, I started to see a new soymilk box in starbucks and got warry so i gave them a call and they are discontinunig their use of Silk (probably cause they dont want to pay them), and are transitioning to a new "un-branded" soy milk. The rep said that it IS gluten free and not to worry. It comes in a brown/ tan box, the only questionable ingredient...

    ARCHIVED Caveman?

It is definetly trial and error, but you can always call the company or look it up online. I google products on my blackberry in stores ALL the time. Let me know if you have luck with the Paleo diet-- I was recently thinking about it too, I just dont know if I could do no sugar or grains...I think I would need one or the other. But if it really helps I'd...
  23. I saw the new Honey Kix (gluten-free) this weekend at safeway and it has 3 g of fiber per serving. That is 12% of your daily req and is more than most cereals. Might be a nice snack.
  24. Totally uncomfortable I bet. I would try call the resturants ahead and tell them you have severe allergies (just way simplier to say you have a life threatening allergy-- they wont ask questions and people will understand right away). Tell them you'll need to bring your food. Just tell your co-workers that you dont eat out due to severe food allergies, dot...
