ARCHIVED Just One Of The Many Reasons I Do Not Do Fast Food...
converge replied to love2travel's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
You're asking minimum wage employees of a fast food chain about esoteric food knowledge? Sorry, but this just makes me angry. We need people to be more proactive about this kind of thing, not insult the intelligence of restaurant workers. -
I live near Northeastern University, so I know Woody's. I will say this- I am of the very sensitive celiac variety and wouldn't eat there. The fact that you can means you should be good eating at a decent spread of places. In that neighborhood is a place called The Otherside Cafe, if you're of age you can get some gluten-free beer / cask cider and...

Higher end fusion cuisine with awesome decor and polite staff. Food is excellent, and if you look around on the internet you can find "coupons" for this place where you get $50 worth of food for $25. Most of the menu is gluten free. Check it out: Open Original Shared Link I had the "Asian Market" and my friend had the duck breast (not gluten-free... -

ARCHIVED Had Reaction From Uno's Gluten-free Menu
converge replied to Laurelf's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Getingt an occasional reaction from a chain restaurant is fairly unavoidable. I'm of the very sensitive celiac variety, but I try my best to go out with my (non-gluten-free) girlfriend and do the restaurant rounds every once in a while. I'd say I've eat off the gluten-free menu from Uno's about 10 times, and have probably had 2 or 3 small reactions. All... -

ARCHIVED Worcester , Ma Gluten Free Restaurants: Another Addition
converge posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I recently discovered two additional gluten-free restaurants in Worcester, MA in addition to the ones I knew about- The Boynton, On The Rise Bakery, and Nancy Changs (chinese). The first is Wild Willies, right off I-190/ I-290. Its a VERY reasonably priced burger joint, featuring mostly burgers and some other assorted stuff. First off, the staff is... -
Try calling them and asking them first? I've been to bars where doing that would get your ass kicked, since we're talking "dives." You're probably better off learning to enjoy cheap wine, it will be better for you in the long run anyway. It is impractical to carry beer around when you go out. Cheap savignon blanc could become your best friend. Just my...

If its a regular bar, ask (demand?) to have your drink made in a disposable plastic cup, that way you no it has not been used before. Obviously this may be more difficult in an upscale bar. The big problem is the bar sinks- a lot of places just rinse used glasses in one sink, which is very likely full of beer or at the very least contaminated. Avoid...

ARCHIVED Nebo Enoteca - Boston Ma (pizza)
converge replied to converge's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Liz, Stone heart in cambridge is the best pizza in the boston area. The ONLY pie I've had that was better came from Pizza Pi in Keene, NH which I started a thread about a few weeks ago. I LOVE their sausage and carmelized onion pizza, and the fact that they stock Bard's beer. I came close to tears the first time I went. -
ARCHIVED Nebo Enoteca - Boston Ma (pizza)
converge replied to converge's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
while I understand your frustration, I don't think they're price-gouging. They are an expensive restaurant in the first place, but the burdens of dealing with gluten free pizza while you run a regular pizza restaurants cannot be easy. Add the fact that if I recall, they make their own wheat dough, and yet they must BUY their gluten-free pizza crusts and... -

Quite pricey, and a complete pain in the ass to park near... but quite good pizza. Their pizza has a wide variety of toppings and some are non-traditional and fantastic. Yum!

There are places to buy prepared food and groceries, but not really any restaurants in Brat that I personally know of. Along the way - If you feel like taking the drive to Keene, NH, you can stop by Fritz's Fries on Main Street, theres also a salad place across the street from them. Also Pizza Pi on West St sells 14" gluten-free Pizzas. Also there...

Starbucks Vanilla Bean Frapacchino
converge replied to JipThePeople's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I politely tell them I have food allergies to some of their products and ask if they wouldn't mind making my drink in a clean, sanitized vessel. They are always happy to oblige. Put 50 cents in their tip cup. -

ARCHIVED What Coffee Drink Are Gluten Free At Dunkin Donuts?
converge replied to IxMissxMysticxPizza's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
The simple stuff, i.e. the coffees and the hot chocolate should be gluten-free. The possibilities for cross contamination are huge, though. Example: when you order an ice coffee, they add all the ingredients, and put the lid on. The vast majority of employees then put their index finger (rarely with gloves) over the hole where your straw goes while they... -

PF Changs is mailing me a 10% OFF discount card because I signed up for their email service through their website. CARD IS GOOD FOR TAKE OUT! Just spreadin' the love. -
Went to the GOM with my family. They have a decently sized gluten-free menu, good service, and a pleasant atmosphere. I had a gluten-free pizza with artichoke hearts and portabella mushrooms. Crust was cooked well, ingredients were fresh, all in all a good meal. They also carry redbridge beer. Would go back. A quick google search will bring...
