  1. Our local WM has a small gluten free section. I have been doing this awhile so I watch all the labels. I noticed that they had a wheat based product (with similar brand name) mixed in with the gluten free. That product very easily could have been mistaken for gluten-free if a someone new to gluten-free didn't notice the small print. I ask a sales clerk...
  2. I searched lymphoma and up you popped:) How are you doing? I am going to get my nodes checked on Thursday.

  3. Sunny I am so glad you brought up the part about obsessing over foods. I gained 35 lbs while on chemo the last 18 months (who does that, gain weight on chemo, uggghh). I was in a very rigid food program and all I did was think about food/binging. Now I am just working on eating better and avoiding the junk foods. I agree that the "gluten friendly" foods...
  4. You picture looks so young to have already battled one cancer and facing the fear of another one. I pray it's not Lymphoma but it is certainly doable. Thanks for all your kind words. I have a grandson (we have 11 grands total) that we call Bubba. Have a great day. Fran
  5. Here is where things are today. Yesterday I had a CT scan at Shands and met the surgeon. While we were discussing the whipple surgery that would likely be done next Thursday the doc received a phone call. It was the GI doc from Tallahassee calling to let him know that there was one biopsy in the lab that would not be back for one week. It was a test for...
  6. Irish, I don't think it's weird to talk to your dad and give thanks for his intervention. Both my parents are gone and our house number was 506. Whenever I see that number on a clock, and it is often, I always talk to both of them and ask them to intercede on behalf of my family. Many years after they passed away I mentioned that to my little sister and...
  7. Irish, glad you had a laugh today. I do believe that prayer does work and did say "thank you" right away. All the asking needs to have my thanks you's attached!!!! Fran
  8. I AM SO HAPPY...that sounds nuts but the GI Oncology Department of Shands Hospital called today and is seeing me tomorrow afternoon. YEAH They will get to the bottom of all of this quickly and I can be over and done with this. I was supposed to start an IV maintenance therapy (every other month for 2 yrs.) for the lymphoma in May when that last PET scan...
  9. I'm still a little groggy but really wanted to catch up guys up. First the prepping was a lot easier thanks to the prayers and Lorazepam. I was still out when the doc talked to my family but this is what we know. The cancer is not in the ducts. There is a mass in my pancreas that is closing the ducts and why he reinstalled a stint. He has gone as far as he...
  10. Thanks for the replies love2travel and irishHeart. My hotmail address is irish641 so you can guess I'm an Irishman around here too. I do have a lot of support here and I know I will get through this test. It is an Endoscope with a fiber optic on the end that will travel up into the bile duct to see how invasive the tumor is. Now since I decided to...
  11. Hello everyone and hope you are having a good day. I did the liquids for 6 days and just started on food yesterday. I will be having a scope (spyglass) this Monday. I would appreciate your prayers and good thoughts this test is tough for me. I had a panic attack before the one I had a couple weeks ago so I dread this one. I have some meds to take...
  12. Thanks everyone. It is easier to talk to all of you on this computer than it is to talk on the phone today. I'm so grateful that you all listen to my yakking. I am feeling hopeful that they have found it early. Because I had the Lymphoma I get regular PET scans and that is what found this stuff 6 weeks ago. I just want to get to the other side of surgery...
  13. I don't have many words right now. It is cancer and I'll be scheduled for whipple surgery in Gainesville FL within the next 8-10 days. There is a lot of info about the whipple on google. Thanks for all your prayers. Fran
  14. Courage and strength are such strange words to me. I only see the days/moments when I go to my room and just beg God to let me be with hubby and the kids (2 + 11 grand/great-grands) for Christmas. I am a woman of faith but that faith seemed to be so far away in those moments. The relief is that God picks me up, dusts me off and faces me forward. Then...
  15. The docs office called and said the biopsy came back benign. He isn't satisfied with that result because of what he saw and couldn't get to last Friday. He is referring me to a surgeon to go in and see/remove what he looked at. This has been one wild roller coaster ride. I'm praising God for good results and deal with the next step when it gets here. ...
  16. Sorry I haven't written. Thursday the doc had me admitted to the hospital. I had pancreatitis and he did the ERCP? (I may have gotten lost on some of those initials) yesterday. I have a malignant tumor blocking my bile duct that is right where the ducts come into the pancreas. The biospy he took yesterday will tell if it's pancreatic cancer or bile duct...
  17. I've been so sick all week since the test. The blockage is were bile comes from the head of the pancreas into the intestines. He doesn't yet know if that blockage is cancer, stone or sludge blocking the tube. Next Friday I will have a more invasive scope to remove the blockage and have it tested if it's a tumor. I am yellow. YIKES. My bilirubin count...
  18. I slept almost all day yesterday after getting home from the hospital. Doc said the pancreas looks good but he took a biopsy of pancreas and liver. The "density" that showed up on the PET seems to be a blockage in the upper intestine where the stomach empties. That opening should be 5 and is about 1. He biopsied that blockage. That didn't show on my...
  19. I am so happy that today is #3 of being gluten free. We are having dinner with a friend tonight with some other couples. She called me to check what foods I can not eat. I almost cried because I just shared with her a few days ago how hard it has been getting back on track with the foods. Once I made the decision to take the gluten back out of my life...
  20. LOL, sorry I didn't pay attention that it was your sig line. A whole tribe of warrior princesses, what power that portrays! Take care, fran
  21. Warrior Princess!!! I love it..lol This old chick feels young with that title. Thanks fran
  22. Just caught my breath after getting home from gastro docs office. He doesn't think it is pancreatic cancer because I have no symptoms of that. He isn't sure if it's related to lymphoma but doesn't think so because lymphoma responds so well to chemo and I just finished that in January. The PET the first week of May showed a "change in density on...
  23. Mr., I have heard of Dr.Li, thanks for the website I will check it out today. Fran
  24. I had forgotten how great I felt way back when without the gluten for the first time in my life. Last night I was so nauseous that I took my chemo meds for nausea for the first time since Feb. It is amazing what the mind can block out when it wants to. I was one sick puppy when I was diagnosed with celiac and felt so much better after a few months of eliminating...
  25. Thanks Irish and Ravenwood. No time like NOW to pull it together. Raven, I knew Lymphoma was one of the a possiblity but you never think it can happen to you. Win the lottery sure, get cancer nope....lol
