  1. It's funny that you should mention vomiting, well not funny you know what I mean. The one symptom I had tonight was a lot of nausea. I didn't get that very often before this gluten-free diet. I can't track any gluten I had but I think it may be some super sweet brownies I made that are gluten-free. Or I just overate. Anyway I'm crawling in bed to get...
  2. have developed an extremely gassy stomach after eating virtually any meal, has anyone experienced this? Thanks for your input, just TRYING to figure it out! These were the symptoms I had prior to going gluten-free 2 1/2 weeks ago. I was so surprised the first time I ate and was not in pain from gas and bloating. I haven't wanted to go to restaurants so...
  3. Since joining this forum it has amazed me how many different things can go wrong with our bodies from this disease. I never dreamed that so many things were attributed to celiacs. And I do feel so blessed that it only takes a dietary change to control all these things. At 60 years old it's like getting a new lease on life. I know as I get more accurate...
  4. Thanks for all your answers, I appreciate the encouragement. I know it's only been 2 1/2 weeks so I'm still confused but the picture is getting clearer. I will try the vitamin B and see if that helps my cramping.
  5. Thanks so much for leading me to the post on Rice Dream. I pitched the soy milk I had because someone said that was not good for us and switched to the Rice Dream.......I will be looking for a sub for that now. Thanks again.
  6. I've searched these boards for the answer to Rice Dream milk, ok or not. The only posts that came up in a search were from 2006. The box says Gluten free.........what gives?
  7. Before diagnosis I had terrible leg or foot cramps all the time. Since being gluten-free for going on my 3rd week I've been free of the cramps. I just chalked it up to one more symptom of celiacs. But last night I was up most of the night with those bad cramps coming and going all night. Does anyone else have this problem and it not related to celiacs...

    ARCHIVED Oven?

I know not to use our regular toaster but someone told me I can't use my stove. I use a cookie sheet covered in foil if I use the oven to bake bread and such. Does everyone else not use their ovens? Everyone in my house is not gluten free so I can't imagine replacing my stove.
  9. Thanks so much for all the replies and links.
  10. It's been almost 2 weeks since I started gluten-free. I say started because I'm finding out the process is a long one. The one area that still is a mountain climb is the labeling and understanding all those ingredients. I keep telling myself all the great healthy food I CAN eat, trying to stay positive. Tracking all my meds took a few days. In the last...
  11. MNBeth, I am so glad to hear I am not the only one who has a problem with the assertiveness thing... "I'm a big sissy about that advocating for myself thing. I can do it, but I hate it; it makes me extremely nervous and uncomfortable, and then I eat the whole meal wondering if I'm going to be sick for a couple of weeks as a result. " Maybe when I'm...
  12. Thanks for the replys, I am going to keep taking it and see how it goes.
  13. I have found out most of my meds are ok but the Synthroid was not on the Gluten Free list. I take 100 mcg of this med and will need to find a gluten-free substitute won't I. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  14. Ladywinger, I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis of lymphoma. I pray you will have a good recovery. That was actually my next test when they found the Celiac. If I'm not improved by my Dec. 30 visit the doc will consider a lymph gland biopsy. But right now it looks like the gluten-free seems to be helping. Today I have been sorting and cleaning out...
  15. Still new, only 6 days. I hear the phrase "got glutened" often and I understand that it would mean you accidentally ingested gluten but my question is what happens to your body? Do you experience the same symptoms as before you became gluten free? Like a week ago I had pain, cramps, bloating, the Big D and nasty gas (don't I sound like the ideal date?...
  16. Thanks for the website info Ravenwoodglass. She was meaning to be helpful and I will have something in my head and an article for next time. She caught me off guard. I too hope the host was gluten free but mine should be here this week.
  17. Thank you so much for your great response to my problem. This illness takes such a change to lots of areas of a person's life that it can leave you feeling slightly less confident at first. I have really tried to look at this from the first day as "OK, what CAN I eat" and started from there. My children do not have any of those autoimmune symptoms nor...

    ARCHIVED Pinned?

Boy, I could see where that would solve a lot of problems before they even begin. I have been involved with other hobby/nutrition boards and this a new one on me. Never too old to learn something new.

    ARCHIVED Pinned?

What does pinned mean? I posted a message in Family and Loved ones. I can see the post on the opening screen of all the boards but when I go to that one board it isn't there. Does that have to do with pinned? How does something get pinned?
  20. I have been going through different testing for months to identify some of my gut problems. Not the celiac blood work. Long story short a pill camera showed my damaged villi. Doc says go on the gluten free and see how you feel before my next visit. Sounded ok by me. I want to put this kindly but not sure I can. I asked to share a gluten free communion...
  21. Thanks for your reply. I'll find out about those natural flavors.
  22. I am not sure this is the right board to post this question or not. Please let me know if I'm in the wrong place. This is only my 3rd day since being diagnosed so I'm struggling with identifying the unsafe ingredients in some foods. I am looking at a jar of mayo that has listed: soybean oil, eggs, water, distilled and cider vinegar, salt, oleoresin paprika...
