  1. Just need to let out some frustration: Yesterday I got such a desire for fried bacon and eggs, so knowing I can't manage eggs, I thought okay for a little bacon for the first time in 3 mths (it says in Elaine Gottschall's book that a little amount of normally smoked bacon is okay once a week). I went and bought it, fried and ate the bacon, and felt great...
  2. Will just add that before I 'found' the caprylic acid, I relied heavily on the olive leaf extract to fight the candida. And it worked rather well, even if it wasn't quite enough for me to get rid of the candida for good. Make sure that the olive leaf extract contains no alcohol - I use the one from the Vitamin shoppe, but there surely are others ... If...
  3. I take both, but separately. About three times a day, I drink a glass of water with around 25 drops of olive leaf extract. And also three times a day, I take two capsules of Solaray's Capryl, which each contains 2,163 mg of caprylic acid. I do think that the capryl together with some probiotics - and of course a no-sweets SCD - are enough to fight my candida...
  4. Sounds like an all Kafka'esque Doctor-experience ! It's those kind of experiences that has led me to more and more often try to handle things on my own. I also think that celiac/gluten intolerance is much less recognized in Europe compared to the US. I've been tested for a trillion things in Denmark in a life time and particularly since those debilitating...
  5. Hi Rice Guy, I think there are three issues at play: For one, caprylic acid seems to be very potent against candida. I've tried almost all the recommended remedies in recent years, and was able to keep candida at bay with a combination of herbal medicines, but it was only when I started taking the caprylic acid (in fact partly on your recommendation...
  6. Don't know about doctors, and I've no personal experience with Candex. But I had to take very strong anti-biotics for ten days in November in the midst of my candida treatment, and it worked out very well. What I did was to increase significantly my intake of probiotics, while at the same time being very careful about the diet (no sugar, no alcohol, very...
  7. Forgot to add that if you need anything absolutely urgently, there are some 24 hr pharmacies all over Paris. There used to be one on rue de Rivoli, not too far from St Paul - but they're probably all listed in the 'Pages Jaunes' - or can be located on the internet.
  8. Hey, that's a difficult one. I know that when in normal healthy balance one is supposed to take magensium/calcium in a 2:1 ratio (can't remember which should be double though ). And since I've never really tried taking any significant amount of calcium, I just don't know about the effect ... hopefully someone else on this thread can help out here with some...
  9. Sounds just horrible. And brain fog is so disturbing! But it must be possible to find magnesium citrate in France - I bought Solaray's here in Denmark a few days ago, and normally we're much more limited than what can be found in Paris. Did a little internet search - and here are a few possibilities: Open Original Shared Link Open Original...
  10. What about bananas ? (must be really ripe to be SCD legal) And avocados as someone mentioned. They can be cut in pieces for a salad, eaten with oil and salt/pepper and fx shrimps (can you have that?), made into a basic guacemole that you can eat with vegetables or meat, or for something easily digestible they can be blended with vegetable soup or chicken...
  11. Hi Clearsky, Good suggestions from the others. Definately go for many small meals, and chicken/ chicken soup rather than the beef. I still have some problems digesting even weak chicken soup, but if I make sure to get some natural enzymes like ginger, raw garlic, grape fruit, or some green vegetables just before eating it, I seem to digest it much...

    ARCHIVED Parasites

Thanks Ali and Purple for some really interesting links. One of them also gives a good explanation for the mucous that I'm producing these days - and a red right eye that I first thought was infected, but is more just like irritated and need to be washed out with saline solutions. I also feel that the wormwood is the strongest remedy, at least...

    ARCHIVED Parasites

I have consulted with my herbal specialist, who confirmed that the best approach when doing herbal treatment of parasites is to combine a number of different anti-parasitics for quite some period of time. You've got to make all nooks and crannies of your body unliveable for the beasts, and that demands quite a committed effort. So I'm in for the long...
  16. Yes, I can't have apple sauce, too sweet for me (even with nothing added), so that one is out as well. I think that what we're able to tolerate apart from real food allergies, depend to a large degree upon the individual degree of damage to the intestines as well as to the level of healing we've reached. And everyone's stomach chemistry differs depending...

    ARCHIVED Parasites

Alcohol does me in even in very small amounts - like just one sip. In the SCD book, it says 'avoid beer', and normally I would think as celiacs we would have to anyway, since beer contains malt. don't know if stella artois is different, though. I've never been able to drink beer, makes me feel totally sleepy and heavy - and only when I realized I couldn't...

    ARCHIVED Parasites

Thanks Ali for the info - think I might get hold of that book as well. Yes, Byetta surely sounds like having been a trigger of many ills for you. Whether it would have had a direct impact on parasites I don't know, but if it undermined your health, it would have allowed for proliferation simply because the immune system gets too weak to fight the parasites...

    ARCHIVED Parasites

What is Byetta - and what is it made of ? And I forgot, what did you take it against? I think, just like antibiotics encourage the growth of candida and other fungi, probably cortisones and steroids and maybe other drugs, I'm not aware of, encourage parasite proliferation. I haven't researched the mechanisms at play though, so I don't know the chemistry...

    ARCHIVED Parasites

Hi Ginny, what about keeping your dog on a more or less constant anti-worm drug ? I don't know if that would be harmful to the dog, but if not, it would be a lot better for you ... Brain fog and bipolar symptoms, as well as loads of other diseases, can definately stem from celiac. My family is full of schizofrenia and other mental problems, and I've...

Yes, wormwood is a great bitter Here are links to the US National Institute of Health: Open Original Shared Link and the Center for Diseases Control, Parasitic diseases department (also under the US Health Department): Open Original Shared Link On both you can search for studies, recommendations and Medical Journal Articles about parasites...
  23. Hi Clearsky, Having suffered terrible joint pains and needing the NSAIDs I know what you mean. But if your problems are anything like mine, most will be taken care of by the diet. And certainly, the rice you ate before going on the SCD will have worsened it tremendously as well. Anything that creates toxins will contribute to the arthritis pain, besides...

  25. Hi Fig girl, I'm presently taking Solaray's B12 sublingual - it was all I could get in my local health food store here in Copenhagen, and I had run out of the Nature Made's B12 I was taking in the US (not sublingual, but they seemed to work for me anyhow). Problem with Solaray is that they contain sorbitol, so they're not SCD legal, and really too sweet...
