Thanks Scott and Momma Goose for the interesting info. And thanks to Ginny for an insider's view. Here's a list of anti-parasitic herbs describing their effects/precautions (skip the commercials! - and do double-check everything): Open Original Shared Link Yes, Ali it's probably a good idea to stick with the wormwood for an extended period of time...

Hi Ali, If you switch between two groups of herbs, make sure that there are equally strongly anti-parasitics in both - so that no eggs that hatch under a 'less strong regime' can survive. I switch around a bit with my own herbs, but mostly as concerns the dosage, and just depending on how my stomach sensitivity is. I eventually got rid of the larva migrans...

I haven't taken any medication for years - except antibiotics once for an infection - so I don't know about interactions with Grape fruit seed extracts. If there's any chance of an interaction it probably should be checked with the doctor and/or the provider of your medicine. I start every day with ten drops of GSE in a glass of water. I also blend a peeled...

Thanks Lizard00, I do agree that self diagnosis according to standard internet lists is an absolute no-go, and I also agree with regard to most of your other observations. Just felt that more dilligence was being applied on this subject rather than on other ones. But never mind, this is such a great board probably exactly because of this dilligence - so...

Hi Jestgar, I respect your position, even if I may respectfully disagree as to the overall question of how responsibly an individual can carry out self-diagnosis and self treatment as long as it is based on thorough research and analysis (with the ignorance and/or irresponsibility of quite some of the MD's, specialists and even some Med Professors as...

I have taken golden seal for extended periods of time as part of my candida regimen - and as is recommended exactly for candida. But I guess the particulars depend on what type/strength of the goldenseal is talked about. Also, a lot of golden seal products are exactly combined with echinacea, as I understand it in particular when the use of the two are meant...

ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
Ms Jan replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hi Ali and Rinne, Now the parasite thread is up and running - with both our 'starters', Great. It's as if for every stage of the healing I'm going through, I reach another level and discover something new to attack. First I went gluten free in November, then it wasn't sufficient, so I went on to the SCD in January, then cutting out all dairy/sugar... -
Maybe I should just add that I don't act out of thin air, but have done extensive research (which I'm used to at a very serious level in my profession as a writer, and holding two advanced degrees in the economic sciences (I'm fully aware it's not medicine, but the demands for methodology are equally tough, believe me! )). I have furthermore consulted with...

ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)

Hi Rinne, Yes, I do the same. Whereas I'll always recommend anyone else to check with doctors - I've myself been misdiagnosed and mistreated in the 'system' so many times (sometimes with harmful consequences - like when at least five doctors/specialists for two years couldn't diagnose my larva migrans in the leg, and gave me cortisone and cut into the... -
Hi All, We got into the issue of parasites on the SCD thread, but think a separate thread is needed as this is a huge subject in itself. Having improved much since I started on the SCD two months ago, I still feel that something else is wrong. Bedsides that strange feeling that something is 'alive' inside of my body, for about a year I've regularly...

ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
Ms Jan replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
As to the parasites, I just read in my old 'conventional' medicine handbook that the parasites we pick up in the tropics - which I'd believe are probably all over the world today - tend to spread beyond the intestines and can lounge in any organ, which is why they are so hard to get rid off: any sufficient dosage of medicine that would kill the worms/parasites... -

Thanks Ali, In the meanwhile, I came down with a really bad bout of headaches/vomiting for three days, only now getting slightly better. Think it was the flying to Denmark, those long flights together with the inevitable shift in the diet (even if I eat the same produce, they somehow have a different substance in different places) that brought me down... -

I also suspect that I carry around some parasites that worsens my condition - and like you, Ali, I also react strangely to some of those anti-parasitic herbs. Having lived for several years in Africa, I naturally suspected parasites already when I first fell sick, but tests came back negative. However, now I've been reading about how unreliable tests can... -

Hi Julirama, Congratulations on your wedding. As to the delayed gut reaction to bad food, I think it stems from the bugs relishing the 'bad' foods when you first eat them after a long abstinence - thus momentarily leaving your body alone. Then, however, they procreate rapidly in the carbohydrates, and being now well fed they also start building... -

Hi Fig girl, don't worry about the 'pine-apples' - I actually just thought you meant it was about their specific digestive enzymes you hadn't heard ... but anyhow, brain fog is a real killer, I know that only too well. And then, being Danish I appologize that my spelling and grammar is sometimes a little odd ... As to anti-fungals, I've tried... -

Hi Fig Girl, Thanks - I'll try out the 50-60 minutes chicken breasts and see if they work better for me. Jan -
Yes, I definately do ! I have always easily gotten stressed out with anxiety, obsessive thinking and like strange ideas, and in this stage I hallucinate - no drugs, no alcohol, simply straight forward brain created hallucinations. It used to scare the h... out of me. Coming from a family full of schizofrenia and other mental problems, I decided at a very...

Hey dtgirl, Welcome - yes, there're some really knowledgable people on this thread. I'm learning all the time as well. As other people have said before here, we're all different and have to adapt the diet to our individual situations, in order to allow for healing by not putting stress on our digestive systems for a very long period of time until... -

Good advice from others. The specifics I do think also depend on how you react to being glutened. Fx, against brain fogs, I've found that eating chopped raw garlic works wonders. And against headaches/nausea, I take either Japanese Peppermint oil or wild oregano oil, a few drops in a glass of water, or drink peppermint or chamomille tea and also aloe... -

I travel all the time, also cross atlantic, and the security is very tight (which however bothersome I generally believe is a good thing ), but it's also a bit arbitrary. Like sometimes things like my nail scissors pass through, at other times they are confiscated. With liquids, generally you can max have 99ml per security plastic bag - and I can't remember... -

I'm avoiding all sweets these days, so I haven't tried it, but have you checked out the Nut Torte in Elaine Gottschall's book 'Breaking ...' ? It looks really wonderful, and you can make the fillings you'd like depending on what you're able to eat. My soup-digestion problem is getting better if I eat some ginger and grape fruit, or a green pepper, just... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
Ms Jan replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hi There, Thanks to Ali and others for all the information on enzymes. I've been wondering about something: It seems that the chicken soup is often too heavy for me to digest, at least unless I have it in only very small amounts at a time, and particularly not just before going to bed. And now I realized it's probably for a lack of digestive enzymes... -
Really feel with all of you struggling with food intolerant kids. I just have a niece with behavioral symptoms, but it's heart breaking to watch. Coming from a family ripe with schizofrenia and the like - and having struggled with my own share of problems before self diagnosing - I've become convinced about the connection between celiac/food intolerances...
