Since you had the tests at Beaumont, they would have only done the EMA and tTg for the celiac panel, and probably did the allergy test for the top 7--wheat, dairy, soy, corn etc. You will probably be waiting about two weeks for the results, we did. I'm so glad you had them done there. Waiting is awful when your child is suffering, I know. If you feel... -

Your "poor two year old", indeed! I am half way through responding to your PM and looked over here to see what you had posted. You poor thing, and sooo sorry about your baby boy. MRSA is a nasty infection, and unfortunately makes the person vulnerable to it for a long time after--every little scratch can get a new MRSA infection for I don't know how long... -

I like this. You can call me "Mimmsy", and we can meet up with Biff at the club for some Polo "Mimommy" is meant to be like 'my-mommy', as in, my daughter's mommy. Just call me Rachel. Or whatever you like -

This might sound completely lame, but I finally got the guts to put a photo in my profile. I went poking around in some other members profiles (Ha! I know what you look like now.) and checking out blogs and such. I wanted to see who was doing what, who I was talking to--and might I say, what a handsome lot you are. I guess I had a momentary lapse of my... -

Hey everyone, check it out--I finally figured out how to upload an avatar. My man had to help me Brains, braun, and new laundry room cabinets, too I'm not an idjut, but geez, too many pixels or something. That's my dog Max, when he was just a wee pup. Looks like he got glutened, huh? He's now about about 1 1/2 years old, weighs in at about 80... -

eh-hem... a limerick: There once was girl with celiac, a fine lookin chick who pulled coins from her crack. Bent over, she was, for most of her day, seeking errant jewels that had gone astray. When asked why her bum twas so very psilly she'd answer, "Tis those magnetic villi". Folks all around came to see the lass pull metal objects from... -
Hello all. I only have 5 minutes to say this, but I had an experience today that really made me realize just how fortunate I've been to have found this forum and for all of the GREAT advice received here. I had an appointment today with someone who provides a health related service for me. I'm keeping them anonymous, because I have urged them to take the...

So, my husband went to Ace Hardware this morning (3 blocks from our house) to get some Primer, and they couldn't scan his credit card cuz the power had been out since yesterday--coinkydink? I think not. And dressing in front of those doe eyed llamas is just down right embarrassing <blush> we just don't do that sort of thing around here. -

You must be getting our weather (actually, I think we're getting yours). Here in the Detroit suburbs they're calling for 6 inches of the nasty white stuff overnight. Enough already!! My tulips and daffodils can't take anymore. And no fears--it's not critic , but critique. One implies self-important nincompoop with messy desk and bad diet. The other... -
Hi--I've been spending my weekends making up batches of food for the week because I work long hours and can't come home to cook a fresh gluten-free meal every day. I happened to be home all day yesterday w/ no plans for dinner. I grabbed what was on hand, and wound up making this savory Pork Chop dish that was a family pleaser and easy to cook while doing...

ARCHIVED New Gluten-free...how Long Until I Notice A Change?
mimommy replied to GottaSki's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think it was already mentioned that the time it may take to feel better is in many ways dependent upon how much damage there is in your body. You may want to remove all dairy for a couple of weeks, as the villi (which are flattened as a result of the auto-immune response to gluten) are also involved in digesting and processing the proteins and sugars in... -

That story was hilarious! Where do you come up with this stuff? It sounds like a Bare Naked Ladies song "I'm the kinda (gal) that laughs at a funeral, can't understand what I mean? Well, ya soon will" Seriously, tell more. That was good stuff. I used to facilitate a writer's critique group a while back and we would have loved a story like that.... -

Hey, thanks for the post! My husband and I go to Indiana almost every summer for the annual reunion of his auto related on-line forum. Maybe this year we could bring our daughter and make a little vacation out of it. Let us know when you find some more info! And, gee, wouldn't it be fun if we all had our OWN reunion somewhere? Hmmm, my house is too... -

ARCHIVED Sprueberg-- A Gluten Free City
mimommy replied to Lisa16's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
"Tropical Sprueville"--hee, hee, hee!! That is precious! On the beaches, bloated bellies and not so perfect skin would be the norm--no air brushed bods here, I tell you. And in the dance clubs instead of the Hustle or the Bump the favorite dances would be the "shuffle" and the "limp" (for all those achy joints). The state motto would be "Let them eat... -

Thanks, Raven--you are always so kind and caring in all your repsonses. People need that kind of compassion in this world--the forum is lucky to have you as a member! ARCHIVED Needing Help To Understand Blood Test Results
mimommy replied to teemaree's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hope this helps? Taken from Open Original Shared Link "Macrocytosis is a term used to describe erythrocytes that are larger than normal, typically reported as mean cell volume (MCV) greater than 100 fL. The amount of hemoglobin in the cell increases proportionately, so the mean cell hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) remains within normal limits. Causes... -
ARCHIVED Anemia--macrocytic, Microcytic, Normacytic?
mimommy replied to mimommy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thank you for responding. I guess I need to clarify--I have not been diagnosed with celiac, although I was tested recently. I am here for my daughter, who was diagnosed celiac earlier this year. However, the anemia question was for me. I have been experiencing many celiac symptoms, the worst of which is the inflammation/joint pain. My husband and I were... -
ARCHIVED Ignorant Doctor
mimommy replied to curiousgeorge's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I think far too many of us have had our share of difficult and/or ignorant medical professionals. Unfortunately the responsibility then lies in your hands to both advocate for your child through diligent research and to keep looking until you find the right doctor. To me, choosing a doctor is a lot like choosing a spouse; not a relationship to be entered...
