ARCHIVED Inability To Concentrate, Fuzz Brain
Leper Messiah replied to kayo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Weak adrenals are cause by excessive stress and constant inflammation of the small intestine means the need for cortisol is greater than normal. Over a period of time on top of day-to-day stresses this adds up and your adrenals burn out to some extent and aren't able to produce the cortisol required on a day to day basis. Unfortunately if you are in this... -
ARCHIVED How Long Are You Binned After A Glutening?
Leper Messiah replied to Leper Messiah's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Lol well I am an accountant so I generally am screwed with the brain fog. I sent an email to the wrong person yesterday with some sensitive info...grr. Hmm it seems gluten hits everyone for at least a few days so it's maybe I'm getting cross contamination. I am fairly careful but the other person in my house eats a normal diet and leaves crumbs about... -

Just wondering how long symptoms last after a glutening for folks? Mine seems to last for days. -
ARCHIVED Inability To Concentrate, Fuzz Brain
Leper Messiah replied to kayo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I get fuzzy brain too. I've not pinned down the exact cause, I thought it may be an instant reaction to, say gluten, but suspect it may be a delayed reaction for a certain amount of meals after I eat something which I'm intolerant to. I also thought it was my thyroid but it wasn't, I have weak adrenals but figure this is due to the constant inflammation... -
It's nice to know for definite but when you start feeling like 'the boy who cried wolf' then you know it's time to take control of it yourself. Furthermore the blood test and even the biopsy seems to be far from 100% reliable so there's that as well. One thing that a diagnosis is good for certainly in the UK is that you get staple foods such as gluten...

ARCHIVED Tiredness Poll
Leper Messiah replied to Leper Messiah's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Haha, cracking comment. Thanks for your replies, nice to know I'm not alone in the land of nod zZz. I work as an accountant and have to pray to god no-one phones or comes over with a complex query when my symptoms come on, mainly after lunch. It's so funny (and of course frustrating) when remembering someone's friggin name who you probably spoke to... -
Just wondering if anyone gets seriously tired after eating foods which they know or think are triggers for them? And by seriously I mean like a sleepy/brain fog stupor. From reading posts on the forum it seems digestive issues are the main problem people face. Whilst I get bloating/other issues this is secondary to the tiredness. I do have borderline...

ARCHIVED Serious Assistance Needed!
Leper Messiah replied to kaki-clam's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think this boils down to how much do you love your job versus the gripe of being discriminated against via the bonus. If you have leverage in your job, and at times like these who does, like you say it's only going to count against you in the long run or short run if they're real b*****s. I don't agree with it but is it worth all the aggro, let's... -

ARCHIVED Delayed Food Reactions
Leper Messiah replied to Leper Messiah's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Just out of interest when you start on the gluten free diet, how far back does one glutening put you? I've gone gluten, soy and dairy free and think I've just about found a daily diet that I can stick to but fearful that because the person I live with isn't gluten free that a crumb or two may have sneaked under the radar onto my plate/food and into my... -
Hi, Anyone experience (or know that they do!) delayed symptoms for any of their intolerances. Generally for me my symptoms are extreme tiredness and hunger straight after eating as well as a blown up stomach but like today I'm fairly sure I haven't had any gluten, accidental or otherwise yet my symptoms are quite severe. Just made me think it could...

ARCHIVED Questions Questions Questions
Leper Messiah posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hey guys, looking for a bit of help. Got a few questions which I'll try and be concise with but would appreciate your input:- Could gluten be stored as fat and therefore hinder any recovery? Vitamins/minerals - it appears there is a paradox here...for day-to-day living we need nutrition, for repairing ourselves over and above this we surely need a... -
ARCHIVED Celiacs From The UK?
Leper Messiah replied to Leper Messiah's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hey guys, @ seashellp - Good to see a fellow Scot, w00p. I'm up in Aberdeenshire, yeah that would be handy if you don't mind, I sometimes have to visit our Edinburgh office. W0000t, I never even knew DS made pizzas, I'll need to rake my Tesco 24 some more!! I think they just have the DS bread/rolls in our store. I agree about the bread, it's soooo... -
ARCHIVED Drinking With Celiac Disease
Leper Messiah replied to LandonL's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think I was quite lucky in that cider was my tipple before I realised that gluten was causing a problem! Then again if I'm drinking a lot, I struggle to see the difference - maybe dehydration apart. It still rips through my system like gluten after a session. Once I'm a few more months down the line of Gluten-freedom I guess I might introduce alcohol... -
ARCHIVED Brain Fog
Leper Messiah replied to Leper Messiah's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ah right cool I'll give it a try and see if it makes a difference, I've been gluten/dairy free around 2 weeks now and my stomach seems to be ok now along with my bowel process in general so this seems to have sorted this out, I don't get that worried that I'll never have 'x' food/drink again so I'm thinking I'll take this on for the long term in any case... -
ARCHIVED Brain Fog
Leper Messiah replied to Leper Messiah's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
@ BigDogz / Rice Guy - I see, hmm that's certainly got me thinking about both B12 and supplementation in general. The only thing that concerns me is the quality of the supplements, the ones in the supermarkets are full of ineffective chemical compositions that are really just a waste of money for people who don't have malabsorption not to mention those that... -
ARCHIVED Getting Tested
Leper Messiah replied to gfpagan's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm in the same boat although I'm weighing up tackling the stoopid gluten challenge just to get a prescription for gluten free food (from the NHS in the UK) - it is literally costing me a fortune. Here's hoping a better way to test and confirm gluten intolerance is not too far away. -
ARCHIVED Celiacs From The UK?
Leper Messiah replied to Leper Messiah's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Ah right nice one, I don't think there's much Waitrose's in Scotland unfortunately but I've yet to test out Sainsbury's selection. Will have to check it out. Not really checked out Asda either, Morrisons selection is quite poor. You recently diagnosed? -
ARCHIVED Accidental Gluten= Fatigue And Oversleep For Most Coeliacs?
Leper Messiah replied to UnhappyCoeliac's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yeah I totally need more sleep, I figure it's my gut trying to repair. I'm a full time worker who needs to study after work so can understand this is a major problem for some folk but even if you have the time off it's not ideal spending half the day in bed! Sometimes I find it hard to sleep, if say I get glutened in my evening meal for example, anyone... -

ARCHIVED Want Tested - Can't Get It
Leper Messiah replied to BigDogz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yeah I think of this line of thought too, whatever makes me feel better really but something nagging at me wouldn't mind some sort of reliable affirmation, of sorts. Let us know how you get on with your test bigdogz, it set you back much? -
ARCHIVED I Think I'm One Of You
Leper Messiah replied to Hydrokube's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think you should wait a few days then try the lip gloss kiss again then by isolating it you should be able to know. For my sensitivity it seems I have a delayed reaction which makes pinning the causes really difficult and can result in my giving blame to something innocuous and in all likelihood gluten free. -
ARCHIVED Symptoms Of Being Glutened?
Leper Messiah replied to jklatt's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Don't quote me on this but I'm sure I read somewhere that food labelling regulation dictates that if a product quotes only 'vinegar' on its ingredients it has to be apple cider vinegar. -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else With Positive Doctor Experiences?
Leper Messiah replied to princesskill's topic in Doctors
haha, if I had the cash I'd probably fly out for an appointment - I'm from the UK!! Such is the demand for a caring doc who meets you half way in your quest for diagnosis. I can't deny there are many caring docs but they all seem pre-conditioned against celicac disease diagnosis. Your posts give me hope I can find one in the UK! Unless I win the lottery...
