  1. My general rule for anything is if I will only believe in something if I can understand it. I've not looked into this and don't plan to, whilst very skeptical on face value (which should be everyone's default position with all treatments and medical doctrine, be that established western medicine or alternative), in any case I really doubt it will tell...
  2. Yeah me neither although I'd be delighted to know what's going on over the 2/2.5 weeks I get nailed. All I know is that it makes me really really tired!! I also get frustrated when I get glutenned especially when I try so hard to avoid it. I guess you just have to be wary of everything and anything that touches your lips.
  3. As far as I empathise with the anger and sheer frustration I think until you or your family have gluten issues then it doesn't sound all that bad if you don't know the work involved in maintaining a gluten-free diet..."I mean you just have to avoid gluten right?!"...so although I am equally frustrated by people's lack of due consideration I can understand...
  4. Well done AVR, hopefully that'll inspire me to a similar feat!!
  5. Amen to that, docs are so blinkered and full of their own gusto sometimes...no, actually, generally.
  6. Very interesting, I knew straight away with the vitamin tabs I used to take that it had something in them that I reacted to (after investigation found out that they are made from corn, Vit C especially) but I never knew about the rice and that probably explains why although it's by far the best staple food I have, I always in the back of my mind thought I...
  7. I would agree with that, I am firmly in the weeks not days category and in my head the balance is weighing up 1) not being glutened against 2) fitting in socially and enjoying a meal out. For me the scale weighs heavily in favour of not being glutened because my symptoms last 2 weeks and have me feeling awful this whole time but if it's only a few days...
  8. Cheers Caroline/Skylark, given me some much needed food for thought. Got glutened again yesterday so this has picked up my spirits a little (pun wholly unintended !). I've found this Open Original Shared Link so am about to email them to ensure gluten free but it looks to be exact same product as you've indicated above Skylark. It doesn't say for sure...
  9. Yeah you're probably right Caroline, better to be safe than sorry I guess, it was a Carla Halford of their Technical Department. Happy for you to call them if you are happy to, might be able to get a little further than I did. I've got my hands on this Glutenzyme product so I'll report back on if it does anything in terms of ingestion and my symptoms...
  10. I have a gluten free area and have my own gluten-free cupboard but as it's a small kitchen the rest is pretty much a free for all which I have to manage hence why if this enzyme spray worked, omg it would be like all my christmasses rolled into one, lifesaver potentially. Yeah I have rituals, lots of them . Washing hands is problematic however because...
  11. Yeah exact reply here:- Thank you for your email. I`m sorry but I cant really comment on your question. It is not something I have studied or used. I have no idea if it works on surfaces that may have traces of gluten on them. sorry I agree we are thinking outside the box but surely not by a far stretch of the imagination, essentially what I was...
  12. Sorry I don't think I was totally clear there glutout, the foods you regularly eat influence the test and the test is not therefore completely defined by the foods you regularly eat. So you having foods highlighted that you do not regularly eat is normal for these tests, and certainly in my experience, however a large proportion of the foods identified in...
  13. Celtic Queen - you sound like you have a similar gluten path to me. I agree with Pondy on a lot of the points above although B12 did nothing for me personally other than make my tongue really red (I used sub-lingual tabs). I think fundamentally what it comes down to is taking the strain off your adrenals which are dealing with the ongoing inflammation...
  14. 2 weeks of relentless fatigue for me
  15. Cheers yolo, I agree with your sentiments re my flatmate however he is normally pretty good but to him it's moving from the country to the city (and all the excitment of being in the town and being able to go out on the piss from our doorstep, you know what I mean) and he is my best mate so I'm wary of pushing him too hard - also I kind of need the rent too...
  16. Be careful, IgG testing can be very unreliable, as is most food intolerance testing generally. I.e. take one test get one set of results, take the same test the following day and get different results. IgG tends to produce high results in foods which you eat regularly so would tend to agree with your doc, even though I wish it weren't true, would have made...
  17. Yeah get that a lot, "well I'm sure they'll be able to do something gluten free for you"...yeah but how can you be sure I won't get CC'd which I'm 99% sure is what will happen?! Then you just look like a complete d%$#@#$. Agree that they are just trying to help but until gluten and specifically being CC'd (as avoiding gluten is an easy penny to drop in...
  18. Agreed, unbelievably helpful. Many thanks Skylark. This answers my query as to why there isn't a commercial cleaner on the market for us celiacs, albeit depressingly so. I think I am still encouraged enough to still try and look around for something that could help, even if it reduces the risk just an iota. I will start with your idea re breaking a...
  19. I don't know why but I have found my cravings for sugar, chocolate, bread etc have gone. I used to eat tons of the stuff and had to have it but now I don't feel any need to have these...even if there was a wonder cure for celiac tomorrow. I think it lends itself a lot to the sugar/carb addiction/epidemic the modern world is facing. Perhaps celiac is evolutions...
  20. Yeah corn is awful and what makes it worse is that it is in a lot of gluten free foods - including the bread (as maize). And if it's not corn, it's soy...
  21. Well I think the point is that BioCare are a UK company and therefore not subject to Alvin's patent (I think?). I keep getting glutened even with me being very careful so this is fuelling my interest into this. Breaking down and making safe would make a huge difference to my life in terms of managing this awful disease and no doubt many others too. ...
  22. Skylark - can I just check, apologies if I've not read your original post right but are you saying the BioCare Glutenzyme product is part of the snake oil class or part of the type that Alvine are running trials on? Your post is very useful, I was hoping to find someone who has undertaken detailed analysis of this. Can I ask your thoughts on something...
  23. Biocare glutenzyme and other related products, anyone got any experience with these? Are they helpful, anyone swear by them, or are they a waste of money?
  24. Yeah water helps me too, takes the edge off it, although need to be near a loo
  25. I agree with GlutenDude, this is a surefire sign for me that I've been glutened. It's never actually eating gluten so to speak for me - avoiding directly eating gluten is generally the easy part of my daily gluten fight, it's always CC, I have to be uber careful with food and food preparation areas. Hope this helps you start avoiding the fog - oh and I...
