  1. Cream of rice is just granulated rice. You can use a handheld coffee grinder to grind rice. Measure out 1/4 of acup of the granulated rice and mix it with 1 cup of water. Put it in the microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds.
  2. I had been eating chocolate chex everyday for breakfast and began to get a terrible rash and stomach problems so I double checked the ingredients to find barley malt extract =( I don't think chocolates gluten free anymore
  3. I was thinking back today about foods I used to eat quite frequently and how I reacted to those foods. I don't ever remember reacting to Subway's bread, but perhaps I reacted but just not as quickly as I had to other products. Is this reason to question legitimacy of my gluten intolerance? Thanks!
  4. I am so angry! I recieved my reader's digest and it completely criticizes Elizabeth Hasselbeck's gluten free lifestyle! They acknowledge that she has celiac disease, but says something along the lines of us being able to consume trace amounts of gluten and that only 1% of people actually have gluten intolerance. The article also suggests that it is better...
  5. I know I could just google this but I feel like it would be more useful to ask people who actually encounter these issues daily, what are the main symptoms of dairy intolerance? My uncle is lactose intolerance and I am starting to feel sick after drinking milk and sometimes I am unable to sleep when I drink milk or eat cheese. I don't know if this is due...
  6. My mother believes me, but my step father is a military man and nobody can ever convince him that he is wrong. I never knowingly let gluten pass my lips, I am just trying to find a way for him to realize that I can't eat ANY gluten. I don't know why he thinks that some amounts of it are okay. He has diverticulitis (unsure if that is spelled correctly) and...
  7. I still live under my parents' roof and it seems that my step father always feels he is right about MY celiac disease complications even though he does not experience what I experience. He claims that doctors have told me that I can eat things with gluten in them because I will not react to everything, I have to eat things with gluten to find out if all gluten...
  8. I am on amitiza and I have not experienced any anxiety issues, but do you get very severe stomach aches from it at times? I can not figure out how to get rid of the sharp stomach pains it causes and my doctor suggested that I am not consuming enough food while taking it.
  9. I find that its not so much the hair, but how it reacts to shampoos and conditioners...it's difficult to find the right balance it either seems too dry or too greasy and I have to add 2 different types of product to make my hair look some what decent. I have even had to begin getting hair trims every 4 weeks just to maintain it =/ 20$ a haircut is a pain...
  10. I was accidently glutened by multigrain cakes which I had mistaken for rice cakes and I noticed double vision, which resulted in awful migraines for about a week. Has anybody else had such longlasting, strange vision issues? I wear contacts and I don't know if that has anything to do with it? This had never happened until recently. Thank you!
  11. Going gluten free erased my panic attacks and anxiety completely, it was a miracle. I have no doubt in my mind that gluten affects psychological well being.
  12. Has anybody else had problems catching their breathe and having to stop running or strenous exercise not because you are physically tired but because you have a difficult time breathing ? I wonder if it is celiac related? I suspect a dairy intolerance too but I am afraid of giving it up because I already have enough time getting all my nutrients being gluten...
  13. I wish I could explain it but it is sort of like a tired achy feeling, like your knees are asleep but it's so severe that it causes pain especially when you bend them or step down. I remember tingling and extreme weakness with the pain and sometimes it would happen at in coordinance with hip pains. Sometimes it would feel like an on-going jab in the funny...
  14. I think I might know what you are talking about? I consumed chocolate flavored carnation instant breakfast before realizing that it was the only flavor NOT gluten free and later that night noticed several quarter sized red/purple swelling spots along my jawline and was completely freaked out. I noticed it happening yet again about a week later after taking...
  15. Has anybody else here had a problem with muscle development? It took me over 3 years of weight training to get the slightest bit of definition in my arms and I was going to the gym 4 days a week for an hour and a half. My arms are still rail thin, regardless of my weight
  16. Hello =) I am leaving for Phoenix next Thursday and I would like to know some places which will provide gluten free options? The main one's I have found are Red Robin's, PF Chang's, and Picazzo's. I know there is a Pei Wei but I am really sick of eating Pei Wei everytime that I am out. Also, which grocery stores have good selection for gluten free foods?...
  17. Oh my gosh! I've had all of those things happen to me! I had been told that it could be something known as short bowel syndrome, I would google it and see if you match the criteria! Also, it may be a side affect of IBS medication.
  18. Hm...I have found the opposite to be true, I have lost about 10 lbs in the 5 months that I have been gluten free and have had no development of feet or tush padding. I have seen women who reported the bloaty bell goes away, but I have not found that to be true even though I never eat gluten no matter how badly I want to unless I am unaware of it being present...
  19. I have heard many times that there is a body type for people who a are gluten intolerant, but I have only seen images of males used. Do women experience it too? What is the distinct body type? I have always thought that it was the lack of butt mixed with the bloated gut because I have seen it mentioned but I want to know what causes it? What can be done to...
  20. I am only 18 years old, so I am still loving Victoria's Secret beauty products and I just recently noticed that I am breaking out EVERYWHERE...could this be from the lotion or from another product I am using? I also use cocoa butter that I purchase at Walmart that could also be the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated =)
  21. You didn't have it with tapioca tea bubbles did you? Whenever I had their tea with bubbles I became extremely ill, I don't think they watch for cross contamination very well.
  22. Hello I had looked up information regarding gluten free cookie dough ice cream and finally found a brand which my significant other said he had tried in the past and purchased at Wal-mart, however, now we are unable to find it so that I can try it. Has anybody else been able to find Turtle Mountain Purely Decadent Cookie Dough Ice Cream? Thank you!
  23. I have been eating gluten free so I guess that is what I will keep doing. The doctor had me go back to eating gluten for the month of february but I ended up in so much pain that I only did it for 2 weeks and he said that wasn't enough to do a stool testing. Thank you for your help =)
  24. For about 5 months I was able to maintain between 1200-1500 calories at day but lately I think the starches are making me hungrier than usual and I don't know what the deal is but I've been consuming close to 3000 without feeling full.
  25. I have several signs of celiac disease which began appearing several years ago, my doctors all have told me to go to a gastroentronologist (sorry if that is spelled incorrectly) to get an endoscopy tissue test or blood test, however, I have a fear of medical devices. I have never in my life had my blood drawn, I find it extremely difficult to get shots and...
