  1. Update: I got pregnant in January, and miscarried (chemical pregnancy) at 5 weeks on Jan. 31st Then, just yesterday I found out I'm pregnant again! Fingers crossed this one is a sticky, sticky bean. I've read that 85% of pregnancies following an early m/c go to full-term, so the stats are on our side!
  2. Hi Waterlily, Because celiac disease is an auto-immune disease, it is co-morbid (co-occuring) with other auto-immune diseases, such as asthma. I very frequently feel like I can't quite get enough air, and when I exercise I wheeze. I am very active and have my asthma well controlled with medications. Of course, only a DR can dx what you're experiencing...
  3. Good luck, fingers crossed for you
  4. Hi Blondie - welcome and congrats on your possible (hopefully!!) pregnancy When are you able to start testing? My advice would be to call your referring DR (gp?) and let him or her know that you think you might be pregnant. Get a pregnancy test ASAP and stop eating gluten as soon as pregnancy is confirmed. As for a colonoscopy, that does not confirm...
  5. It's really quite delicious lol Open Original Shared Link Might only be available in Canada, it's made in Manitoba
  6. Thanks Lisa. Yes, the ingredients listed as gluten-free, I just had a paranoid moment where I swore I had reacted to the jalapeneo flavour before, but I'm not even sure now if it was the same brand. Anyway, I tried a bit of the cheddar and the garlic flavours and they were delicious. No reaction
  7. My hubby bought some bothwell cheeses in a fundraiser and they look delicious... they also look gluten-free, but I seem to remember reacting to one of them a couple years ago and I'm afraid to try! I searched online but there is no information that I can find regarding the gluten-free status of their cheeses. Does anyone know if bothwell cheeses are gluten...
  8. In recent years, medical journals have published papers saying that people should be taking 1,000-2,000 IUs of Vitamin D per day (depending on weight, age, etc). We are TTC #1 and in addition to taking a pre-natal, I am also taking 1,000 IU of Vitamin D. I am not sure what my DR will recommend once we are successful and I am preggers, but I will let you...
  9. Another disappointment I have read that maca root can help boost fertility, has anyone tried this? Anyone know of a macasure product that is gluten-free? Thanks
  10. I take Jamieson's Pre-Natal (we are TTC - in Canada), it says "no gluten" right on the package
  11. Thanks folks. Another "miss" this month, but I have purchased some Robitussin and a digital ovulation kit. I also relaxed and had a drink and plan to have more fun with it this month!
  12. I hope so too, thanks! I've been exhausted, nauseous, moody, etc. today... not sure if it's possible pregnancy or PMS. The waiting game sucks!
  13. Thanks Jen, good luck to us both! I'm having heavier spotting today and worried that my period is on its way, so I'm not sure this is the month for me... but I still have some hope, fingers crossed!
  14. Hi Jen, I've never been pregnant, so sorry I don't have a very knowledgeable response for you. I have, however, read about twinging, tingling, pulling, gurgling, etc. all being normal feelings during a woman's cycle. I really like the forums and charts at http://tcoyf.com, there are lots of very supportive people on there. I also check out http...
  15. Even if I were not having symptoms, I would still be concerned about the potential of long-term repercussions (or health risks) of eating gluten after being diagnosed celiac.
  16. Yay! Congrats, and good luck on the TTC journey I am using Open Original Shared Link to track my cycle and help me figure out which days are best for conceiving. Have fun!
  17. Hi Jenni, How long have you been gluten-free? There is an adjustment period and it's different for everyone. Some call it gluten withdrawal. I experienced fatigue and constant hunger for about two or three weeks after going gluten-free. It takes time for our bodies to adjust to the change in diet and it takes time for our bodies to heal. ...
  18. Update: the antihistamines seem to have helped. The "hives" (or whatever) have definitely improved. I took a swig of Robitussin, so hopefully a single dose of antihistamine won't impact my cycle or CM this month. It certainly doesn't seem to have, I'm bloated & cramping big-time!
  19. Yes ma'am Your point is well taken, I will take an antihistamine to rule out an allergy. If it's not better by tomorrow after an antihistamine, then I'll spend the weekend on a low-iodine diet. If that doesn't help, I'll go to the DR Monday and see if I can get a DH dx (or have it ruled out) and see a derm specialist. I know that's a quick timeline...
  20. Thanks In answer to your previous questions, the bumps look like hives: small, red, raised bumps. They don't appear to have any fluid in them and are not oozing. I'm hesitant to take antihistamines due to the potential interference with fertility, but perhaps a topical corticosteroid cream would help the irritation? Perhaps I'll pick up some Robitussin...
  21. Ok, so I did a quick search as I was eating an apple & cheese.... and found out that cheese is high in iodine?? lol Low iodine diet, avoid: -iodized salt -sea foods -dairy products -eggs -chocolate -soy -canned foods -food with red, orange or brown dye Do I have it right?? How long do I have to do this????
  22. Now it's spread to my legs & tummy How do I post pictures? I only see the option of posting links to pictures, not uploading them to a post... thanks Does this work? Open Original Shared Link
  23. Thanks! I do LOVE my salty snacks. I'm still not sure whether it's hives or DH, as I've never had DH before, but it doesn't hurt to lower one's sodium & iodine intake regardless.
  24. I still have a rash, we (hubby & I) are convinced that it's an allergic reaction from the zoo, but not 100% it's not DH. We're trying to get pregnant and I'm reading online that antihistamines can effect a woman's cycle and fertility. Robitussin won't help the rash, I need something to reduce irritation due to an allergic response. Any ideas? Thanks
  25. Just washed my hands at the airport, and the rash is now on my left wrist & hand, as well as the right
