  1. well today i did the Radioactive Iodine treatment it took about 14 years or so of my doctor telling me this was the best thing for me so far it's been good. at least i know i won't ever have to figure out if i should do rai or not it's done - nothing to decide anymore and i'm also 46 male like the guy up there but i've been hyperactive thyroid for...
  2. ugh i spoke a few days too soon i was normal thyroid for 2 or 3 years, until December 2009, where i went WAY hyperthyroid again. and spiraled down into a brain fog mess which i'd never experienced before it's all getting better now, but at this point i'm planning radioactive iodine treatment -rg

  4. ok, maybe i need to extend my range a little anyone know any celiac knowledgeable nutritionists on Long island or NY City? thanks
  5. Yes, I was hyperthyroid for somewhere around 10 years. then i went gluten-free after being diagnosed with celiac and then my thyroid became normal, and has remained normal for a few years now of course, there's no way to prove that going gluten-free fixed my thyroid, but my endo included me in a published paper about the link between thyroid and celiac...
  6. thumbs up on Besito from me as well! gluten free and tastes GREAT!
  7. Hey everyone, I know there's more than a few Long Islanders here. Do any of you know of a nutritionist who knows celiac really well? I've been gluten-free for a few years, and I thought I had the whole diet down, but I'm having some issues that are making me refocus and reeducate myself. I think a nutritionist can help, but only one who really knows celiac...
  8. I'm very careful about being gluten-free. I'm going to take the b12 weekly. I also got a prescription for fish oil and vitamin d and some other stuff I can't remember (of course). So far I've been able to hide it at work, or at least hide the extent of it. If it gets worse, I won't be effective at my job. That's scary, especially in this economy. ...
  9. Lisa, I'm so happy to hear that. Your symptoms sound exactly like mine. You've given me hope. Any thoughts on what may have helped? thanks -RG
  10. I'm not sure if Lisa or anyone else on this thread still posts here since i don't post here or even lurk here often. I have celiac, and have been gluten-free for almost 4 (or maybe 5) years. Over the last year and a half I started noticing that I was having trouble with word recall. Over the last few months I've noticed it's gotten really bad. I've...
  11. wow, i had pyloric stenosis also (surgically corrected at a few weeks old)
  12. i've been gluten-free for 3 1/2 years, because I was diagnosed with celiac disease through a blood test and biopsy, but i never head noticeable symptoms. - except that beer brought on a stuffy head and migraine - even from one or 2 beers. 2 days ago, i was glutened (supposed gluten free meal - had soy sauce in it - after one bite, i questioned it, and...
  13. i went gluten free 01/01/2006 tapazole free (WAS for hyperthyroidism) about 2 years later. there's no way to prove there's a cause/effect relationship, but i'm VERRRRRRY HAPPY that i didn't do the radioactive iodine treatment for my thyroid years ago like my doctor wanted.
  14. i'm absolutely dumbfounded that this book is #4 on the ny times best seller list (hardcover advice category) i think the publicity is GREAT! the more people who are aware of this, the better i can eat!! i still don't understand why so many people are buying it, but no matter - i'm psyched (and waiting for my mom to finish reading it before i start...
