  1. I just have to tell you all that I am thankful for your support and understanding. I love coming here to read your posts because you know what I am going through. I was just excitedly updating my husband yesterday about how wonderful its been to be "grain free" for about 7 weeks - gluten is not a word he cares about. I explained about how my symptoms...
  2. I for one am very proud of you! This is your own personal battle, but we are all rooting for you! And you are setting a good example for the rest of us. Thank you.
  3. I went to a nutritionist in 2006 and she had me do the Candidia Diet - it was supposed to be an intense 3 week period, but ended up being 2 years, because I just got worse if I added foods back in. This was before I figured out that I was gluten intolerant. My diet was meats, including eggs but not including lunchmeats or breakfast meats like sausage...
  4. I love Jesus too - and I got teared up just seeing you all posting about your own love for Him. This board has been so helpful and supportive to me, but to know that there are brothers and sisters of the the Body of Christ out there - it can't get any better than that! And I had noticed all the positive references in the Bible about bread and wheat...
  5. This was the symptom that bothered me the most right as I was eating (before I went gluten free). I knew it couldn't be the food in my mouth causing the pain because it hadn't had the chance to get that far - like you said, the pain was on my left side under my last rib and towards my hip. When I was researching about gluten intolerance, I was surprised...
  6. I agree with the others - go gluten free (or possibly only eat whole foods for a while and add back in things like soy, rice, corn and dairy - these things can cause problems too). But you do need to take control over your bowel movements! That is not healthy to allow your bowels to only empty once a week. Because of decades of chronic constipation...
  7. I've always been a big bread eater too, and I've replaced bread with rice cakes. If I have to eat on the go, I would pack a cooler of egg salad, or tuna salad, or chicken salad, a couple of rice cakes, some raw carrots and celery, grapes and other fresh fruits, and maybe some walnuts to snack on. Fruits and raw veggies pack easy, and if you can handle...
  8. I have a really cute kitty picture on my computer that someone sent me - but have no idea how to get it on a post.... can anyone help? It won't let me "copy/paste" and there is no attach icon!
  9. Count me in too. I began going to doctors with different symptoms over 25 years ago - the dermatologist for the watery blister rashes that itched like crazy on my wrist and fingers (said I was allergic to cats... without even testing me), the gyn for intense rectal pain (practically said I was a wimp - my "hemorrhoids" were barely there - but never attempted...
  10. I am new at this - but I have enjoyed the pictures that people have put up under their name. It helps me tell people apart from one another when they post a comment. Some are real pictures of themselves and some are of their pets. I'd like to have one show up too, and chose a picture for my profile. But when I posted a comment, I didn't see my picture...
  11. What if it isn't an insect bite, but its chiggers that you picked up while you were golfing? If you had to hunt for any balls in the woods or tall grass, it may be that they got on you and burried in your skin. I've had chiggers from hiking in the woods, and they cause a terrible itch. Its just a thought to consider. If you think it may be chiggers,...
  12. I agree with your theory - that would explain the watery discharge. I guess I did have more of a burning sensitve area rather that what I would call a rash. I never thought of using diaper rash cream. This is funny to me, but I used to itch so badly that I finally started putting Oral gel on it so it would be numb and not itch. I would also sit on an...
  13. I was not diagnosed by a doctor but after years of suffering every time I ate, I finally gave up trying to eat anything. My friends begged me to go to a nutritionist, and she thought it was Candida. I was put on the cleanse diet of only protein and high carb veggies, and began to improve. Once I began reintroducing food back into my diet after 1 1/2 years...
  14. Yes, I am finding that this chronic problem is directly related to gluten. I am 40 years old and had been suffering with intense rectal itching since I was 12! No doctors could help. Only since going gluten free has it improved - but I still have it occasionally. I don't understand it but I know its related. There seems to be a watery discharge that...
  15. This is my story too. For over 15 years I suffered with bloating, cramping, chronic constipation, fatigue, itchy blister spots on my fingers and severe rectal pain. Two times I literaly passed out shortly after eating a soft pretzel! Several doctors and specialists were visited - all saying that they could "see" nothing wrong with me. Blood work was normal...
