  1. You can't let bullies get to you because the way you treat people is a big factor in determining how good of a person you are. Bullies make themselves feel better by making you feel worse. I think it's sick and I'm sorry you had to go through that! Making jokes about an illness is just that much worse.
  2. It's sad that doctors can be so blind to symptoms.
  3. I'm only 16 but I've had an ovarian cyst...more than one actually. Mine didn't show up on the ultrasound or CT. My gyn did laparoscopy and during the surgery found a cyst but he also found scar tissue that was binding my abdominal organs together so I really couldn't tell you which one was causing the pain or if it was a combination of the two. Either way...
  4. It's kind of cruel that we all crave the food we aren't allowed to have! It's worse when someone shoves it in your face. I pretty much gave up on eating out anywhere. Either I take my own food or wait to eat until I get home. I have a celiac card but people just treat me weird when I use it. Sometimes I'm just not in the mood to go through all that!

  6. Hey! I'm 16. I live in Missouri and don't know anyone else around here with celiac disease. I have msn so if you want to email me my address is: kaseyarleen325@msn.com - you can email me anytime!
  7. I'm from Missouri...probably the only one!
  8. Hey! I'm a girl. 16 years old, diagnosed 2 months. There are way more girls on here than guys.
  9. Gluten is in everything! Before I was diagnosed with celiac disease I had no clue! I have the problems with the crumbs too. My step-dad keeps his bread right by my gluten-free food and he always gets crumbs on my stuff It can be really annoying because he doesn't understand at all. Every time I confront him about the crumbs he rolls his eyes like I'm paranoid...
  10. Most of the gluten-free food I eat tastes better than the gluten filled alternatives. The only thing that I'm still not used to is the gluten-free bread. I think it was tapioca or something like that.
  11. I'm 16 years old and just diagnosed in May. My celiac disease was triggered by abdominal surgery. Before my diagnosis I stayed very close to the same weight but I've already gained 4 pounds since eating gluten-free. My doctor says this is due to my body absorbing nutrients that it went without for so long. My only advise to avoid gaining weight is to take...
