  1. I had no symptoms as well. Until my immunity went down with mono thats when I started having problems. They told me I have had celiac for years though and I never thought anything was wrong growing up. celiac3270 is right....celiac is very underdiagnosed. You could still have celiac and have no symptoms.

    ARCHIVED Nausea

There are probably more mild brands of tea out there that other people on this site drink or have tried. Whatever works good for you definately stick with it though. Definately give probiotics a try they help with immunity. Do you feel bad all the time? Or do you notice any sort of pattern with the way you feel like after a certain food or anything...

The ginger tea I drink is Celestial Seasonings- Original Indian Spice. It tastes like a ginger cookie it is so good. It is gluten-free and has Cinnamon, ginger, and cloves in it along with other stuff. Probiotic bacteria favorably alter the intestinal microflora balance, inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, promote good digestion, boost immune function...

kactuskandee...do you have a Whole Foods nearby you? We get them through whole foods. It's aromatherapy oils. We also have a lost we printed out about what aromatherapy oils are good for certain things. I know the peppermint and orange were good for the stomach. I think the fennel is too. We have quite a few of them If you don't have a Whole Foods near you...
  5. Yeah I agree..some people don't have symtoms but it doesn't mean you don't have damage. It's just the way bodies react..they all react differently.

If walking helps with the aches then keep doing that. But you might want to check with your doctor just to make sure everything is alright. I never get pain or aches in the chest what i get is more like a shortness of breath. And that's pretty much only when I am "glutened" Do you get aches only after you eat? Like have you noticed a pattern?

    ARCHIVED Nausea

Your right kactuskandee ginger is very good for nausea. I have ginger tea alot that tastes soooo good and does help calm the stomach. There are oils you can get to smell like peppermint etc. Fennel is one of them so if you hate the taste of it maybe smelling it would help and you wouldn't have to taste it. But whatever works is good If it works stick...
  8. Have you been checked for any thyroid issues? My dad gets palpitations at night and wakes up and usually gets a drink or something and goes back to bed and they found out he has hypothyroid. Thyroid disease can come with celiac. I have hypothyroid as well and I get palpitations sometimes as well and my doctor says my heart is very good. It could in fact be...

I do yoga once a week with my instructor then i do tapes at home throughout the week till i see him next. It is true that it is alot better to have an instructor to guide you to make sure you are doing it right.

I have a dvd that's for yoga...there are tapes and everything out there for them. There are ones for beginners and then more advanced ones as well. You can do it by yourself. It's very relaxing and just takes away stress for me
  11. I eat Frito-Lay products that are considered gluten-free all the time and have no problem at all. That was the only time I had a reaction and that was my fault due to not double checking. I think they changed the ingredients because before they had barley malt and now they don't and they say gluten-free. Even if it's on my list to eat I double check now...
  12. wow that # is even worse! I had STAX BBQ chips. I noticed on the side of the box the Sour Cream had "this product is naturally free of gluten" but the BBQ didn't but I called and received a list with BBQ gluten-free on it. Now, about a month or 2 later I looked at the BBQ ones and they now say "this product is naturally free of gluten". Now they don't have...
  13. Obstacles:Eating anywhere else but home is a big one that was already mentioned. I learn not to trust anyone who says o yeah it's gluten-free. Even going to a friends house to eat it's hard because they try to make stuff you can have but they could have easily cross contaminated. Everywhere you go you pretty much have to bring something because you can't...
  14. Lays recently told me that a brand of their chips was gluten-free so I went ahead and ate some. I had a horrible reaction to it and I went to double check the label and right on it it said barley malt....This was my fault for not double checking though. As for the cross contamination...wow 15% ...that astounds me...I knew there was alot but that is very...
  15. Have you had your thyroid checked? Thyroid disease can be associated with Celiac and a symptom of that can be hair loss.

    ARCHIVED Cd & Exercise

I play tournament fastpitch softball for a team here in MD. We practice indoors right now obviously because of the snow and cold. We sometimes play 5-6 games a weekend and the more I play the better I feel. I also, walk and jog (either on a treadmill or outdoors depending on the weather) and do yoga. I have no problem with any types of exercise When...
  17. Enzymatic Therapy is the brand...the have everything they are free of written right on their products(they are gluten-free) I get mine at the Vitamin Shoppe but you can get them at health food stores too I think. I usually take 2 right before I eat. If I get feeling bad at all I usually take 2 extra. You can take them anytime you feel like you need to and...
  18. Spicy food is usually fine with me when I take enzymes to help digest the food. I haven't tried eating anything without the enzymes since I found out how much better I feel after eating with taking them. Could there have been something that could have been cross contaminated? Or do you use any shampoos, or something that would have gluten in it? If...
  19. In MD, Walmart has if 6.00 for a 6 pack....thats as cheap as I have seen them. Maybe if you contact a company they would give you a discount for a larger order. In my opinion Butter Pecan is the best flavor. That over ice tastes very good. I can't handle stuff that doesn't taste good.
  20. When I have gluten the worst day for me is usually the 7th day after. A few weeks ago I by accident had something I thought was ok but turned out not to be. Before I had it I was feeling perfect ...I felt it my body react to the gluten almost instantly so I stopped eating it. The days after I proceeded to get worse. Some people have reactions worse...
  21. Unless you go to gluten-free restaurants most of the time there is a risk for cross contamination. Different people react differently depending on their sensitivity. Alot of the symptoms you are describing are associated with Celiac some people however do not have symptoms at all. Biopsies are good to have done but if your villi is not damaged much they could...
  22. Since I have been diagnosed I have called all the companies of everything I get and I ask for a gluten-free list from them and I have a journal book I paste them into that I bring along so I know what I can eat. Some brands will not hide gluten in their products. With labels that have ingredients such as modified food starch and flavoring you have to...
  23. I got a gluten-free list from Hersheys sent to me and it says the the Hershey's kisses, Hershey's milk chocolate bar, and the Hershey's milk chocolate bar with almonds are gluten-free. The hugs were not included in the list I received. Hershey's general statement on this paper is: check label: gluten will be listed as wheat, rye, barley, and oats. ...
  24. Yes well said.... I am 17 and I had no symptoms until I got mono and then it all went downhill. I went from 110 pounds at 5'3 to 92 pounds at 5'3. Happily now that I have been off of gluten for a little over a year I have gained it all back:) Celiac is very easily missed. Biopsies are good but can be unreliable to an extent. If your villi haven't been...
  25. Blood tests will turn negative once you have been off of gluten. It took 6-10 months for mine to be negative.
