  1. I use Earth Balance....it is lactose and gluten free but it has soy protein and other soy things in it. I don't think I have seen any that are dairy and soy free..how would they make it?
  2. Some people have a fast metabolism and in order to gain weight you have to eat alot more then usual. If you have 2000 calories and are staying the same weight try having 2500 calories. I lost weight before I was diagnosed and when I went gluten-free I gained most of it back...but it did take a little bit of time. Also make sure nothing is sneaking in. Some...
  3. Kraft has a whole bunch of dressings and unless the label says wheat, rye, barley, or oats it is safe. I use the Kraft Ranch dressing. Hope this helps You and your family will be in my prayers
  4. Yep I have the celiac disease gene. That's one thing they tested me for in the blood test I had done
  5. Progresso soups will not hide wheat, rye, barley, or oats in their products. So unless the label says that you can have their products. If you go to www.progressosoup.com and contact them they will give you a list. Campbells also has a gluten-free list if you contact them they will give it to you as well. Hopefully you will find it to get easier. It is...
  6. There is alot of normal food you can eat. Also, as lovegrov said progrsso won't hide anything so you might want to try that brand. Thai kitchen has some really good soup that I have called Spring onion and its really good. There are brands that won't hide anything such as Kraft. So unless Kraft says wheat, rye, barley, or oats on the label that brand is safe...
  7. Yeah DH is something people get when they have a gluten intolerance. You obviously have something going on and your body doesn't tolerate gluten. Good luck
  8. Weight loss only occurs in some people. Some people lose weight some people gain it. I for one lost weight but gained it back after going gluten-free. Some people have celiac and don't even have symptoms. I usually notice if I have something I shouldn't right away. The 7th day is usually the worst day though and then I start getting better. People have...
  9. It def. sounds like a good plan to get her off of gluten. If she is doing better go with that. What your body tells you is better then what any doctor can tell you. good luck with everything
  10. You can get enzymes at the health food stores around. I don't know what stores you have around where you live but I get mine from Whole Foods, Roots, or Common Market. You should be able to get them at one near you. If not just let me know and I can get you a link to find out about how you can order them.
  11. mscriber-have your daughter take enzymes to help with nausea....also altoids are good for that along with tummy mint and chamomile tea from celestial seasonings. Also probiotics are good to take as well. Probiotic bacteria favorably alter the intestinal microflora balance, inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, promote good digestion, boost immune...
  12. When a blood test comes back positive most likely you do have celiac. Biopsies can be beneficial but only if there is enough damage to the intestine. My GI doctor is someone who works with alot of Celiac patients and you need a doctor who is very knowledgable in celiac. Celiac is one of the most underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed diseases. mscriber-she...
  13. Yes unless Kraft says it contains wheat, rye, barley, or oats it is safe. If I can help you any more with products or anything just let me know
  14. Modified food starch has always been questionable for celiacs. Unless it is a safe brand such as Kraft who won't hide anything we must call the manufacturer to make sure it is infact gluten free. The bill that was passed and signed in August of 2004 does not come into effect until January 2006. Some companies are already doing that so if you don't want...
  15. I have celiac, my dad has thyroid issues along with my mom. My mom has a severe allergy to wheat but tested negative for celiac. Crohns runs in my dads family, thryoid disease runs in my moms family. My uncle, grandma, and 2 cousins we think need to get tested for celiac because they have alot of the symptoms. I think that many people in my family have...
  16. Since I have been gluten-free I have stayed away from oats. It has been highly debateable if celiacs can have oats or not. At this point I will personally not eat oats.
  17. That's great Good luck with everything!
  18. Yep they have dedicated fryers for both here where I live in MD as well.
  19. Red345-I understand where you are coming from. And I have no doubt your intentions with this survey are good. I know you are trying to help and if there is any similarities with things between celiacs its a good thing to know. I completely agree you should state what you think on here...and I for one like to read what everyone thinks. It's good to be informed...
  20. From Red345 post-"Your entire logic of suspicion makes no sense. You know what you are doing here, Plantime, and that is you're just trying to be nasty, probably because of my refusal to stand beside that "Beloved Christian, Mr. Bush." I know your type. There are Christians who stand beside our Father out of the love we hold within for His heart, than...
  21. Yes....celiac disease effects your immune system...as DarlinDeb25 said...our immune systems are weak and we tend to pick up more things and they tend to last longer. Also when I first started going on a gluten-free diet when I had an accident with ingesting gluten it wasn't too bad. Now, over a year later when I have gluten I get alot more sick then I was...
  22. How long ago did she have a few things at the day care? I know for me the 7th day after I have something I shouldn't is the worst. Maybe she is having a reaction just days after ingesting it. If she is very sensitive to gluten you should not take her to fast food places. There is a very high risk for cross contamination. Also have you thought maybe...

    ARCHIVED Nausea

Yes it will help with bloating and other things that have to do with your digestive system. If your digestive system is causing these symptoms enzymes will help. Probiotics will as well.
  24. When I go out places I tell them I have a severe intolerance that can make me very sick. Most places I have been to are pretty nice to me. I went to one place last week with about 50 leaders of our church. I had to bring my own food there. There was nothing I could have. I was fine with it I didn't mind I am used to it. Most people from my church already...
  25. jknnej-yes I think you have to be on gluten in order for the test to come back positive. My GI doctor is the one who ordered this test. If you go to Prometheuslabs.com and go to products and services...then go to diagnistic tools...the click Celiac disease serology. It will tell you what all it tests for. The lab is located in CA. I was told to keep eating...
