Very interesting. I wanted to say I have much more anxiety when I get glutened as well. -
ARCHIVED Is 3 Weeks Long Enough For A Gluten Challenge?
passionfruit877 replied to passionfruit877's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well thank you all for responding. I felt a little stressed and confused this morning, but now I think I feel confident about my decision. -
ARCHIVED Im In Tears. Please Someone Help. Celiacs?
passionfruit877 replied to MATERIALGIRL's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't have Celiac, just gluten intolerance, but I have the same "pregnant belly". I have been off gluten for 6 months and I get it when I eat gluten, or sometimes dairy. Like, so big I can't button my pants (and I am normally skinny). I guess it is a reaction. I have not been tested for Celiac but I see many people on here are gluten intolerant even though... -
ARCHIVED Wondering If I'm Gluten Sensitive
passionfruit877 replied to kimann79's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Also, I can't speak for everyone else, but I developed a sort of aversion to gluten, because I could tell it was making me sick. It was hard at first, but it got easier. -
ARCHIVED Wondering If I'm Gluten Sensitive
passionfruit877 replied to kimann79's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you've already been tested you may just try the diet yourself. I would not recommend it if you haven't been tested because now I have been off it too long to be tested (and it makes me sick to eat it again). My husband has been supportive since he saw my positive changes, and now eats mostly gluten free himself. I make honey mustard chicken, stew, pasta... -
ARCHIVED Is 3 Weeks Long Enough For A Gluten Challenge?
passionfruit877 replied to passionfruit877's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hmm, I'm not liking the word "months" there. Ok, I think I'm not gonna do it. It's not a good sign if I'm ready to give up after one day. He did say the only difference was that if I did have Celiac disease I would just have to check up with a doctor every so often, maybe get screened for osteoporosis later. I could do that on my own. He told me constipation... -
ARCHIVED Is 3 Weeks Long Enough For A Gluten Challenge?
passionfruit877 replied to passionfruit877's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ah, ok now I'm feeling it. I ate some soup and my stomach feels very bloated. I also have heartburn and that tightness in my chest. How long would I have to wait to take the blood test? They said whenever, so I could do it next week. I have gluten intolerance in my family, as well as lactose intolerance. I don't know that any of them were able to test positive... -
ARCHIVED Is 3 Weeks Long Enough For A Gluten Challenge?
passionfruit877 replied to passionfruit877's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm worried that I'm wrong. Sometimes I get sick after I eat, like immediately. But today when I ate that bread I just got really bloated and now I have heartburn. I don't have stomach cramps. And I have to go in between Monday and Thursday to get the blood test, they told me just go whenever. I though maybe I could just wait a week and go get the blood test... -

Debbie, how long were you gluten free beforehand? -
ARCHIVED Is 3 Weeks Long Enough For A Gluten Challenge?
passionfruit877 replied to passionfruit877's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
But is it even worth it? And I was confused that he scheduled the blood test and the biopsy at the same time. Shouldn't I just try the blood test and if it comes back positive then do the biopsy? I ate like 3/4 of a piece of bread when I got back and now I'm bloated. He said I had two options, just keep eating gluten free or do the testing. I'm thinking maybe... -
ARCHIVED Is 3 Weeks Long Enough For A Gluten Challenge?
passionfruit877 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I saw a GI today who said he doesn't think I have Celiac but said I might as well be tested since I'm only 22. I have been gluten free for 6 months so he asked me to eat gluten for 2 weeks then get a biopsy. The biopsy is actually scheduled for 3 weeks though. I'm not sure what to do. I really want to call and cancel the endoscopy and just say I'm gluten... -
ARCHIVED Wheatgrass
passionfruit877 replied to caboheidi's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I wondered about that. I saw this fruit juice that had wheat grass labeled, but was marked gluten free. -
I have sort of a similar story. I was diagnosed with IBS for about 2 1/2 years. It started in college. I accepted this diagnosis at first but then it got worse and worse with new symptoms. I felt like I wasn't being taken seriously, and doctors insisted I still just wasn't getting enough fiber. I was eating fiber one bars, whole wheat everything, Activia...

ARCHIVED What Is Your Daily Diet?
passionfruit877 replied to Stylo's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yoplait yogurt is delicious for breakfast. The ones that are gluten free are labeled on the back. Coffee is gluten free (woooo) but watch out for flavored coffees and creamers. I make a lot of soup, meat and potatoes, mexican food (like tacos with corn shells), nachos, I made honey mustard chicken the other day that wasn't bad. -
Chick-fil-a has dedicated friers, although I would ask. If someone wants to eat out while we are shopping or something, I stop there and get some fries.

Ah, thats such a good way of describing it! It's almost not like constipation, its more like I had NO urge for go for 3 or 4 days. Doctors didn't understand. They kept putting me on stuff like Miralax and Metamucil that did nothing, because I don't know that its true constipation. It came out almost kind of more toward the diarrhea side. I was so sick of... -
I like your definition. How bad was it to do the gluten challenge? I just don't know about that. Ok, this is my plan. I'm going to do the genetic test through Prometheus labs, and see if I have the genes. If I don't, maybe I'll feel better calling myself gluten intolerant. If I do, I'll take it to my doctor and go from there. Surely they wouldn't ignore...

Thank you everyone for responding. It is nice to feel like I have support. First of all, I just wanted to express that I'm not doubting the diet. It has worked wonders for me! However, my concern is that if I have Celiac disease, I want to be diagnosed with it. My thinking was that if a genetic test came back positive, I would get more help from my doctor...

I definitely will stay with the diet. I just want to know, though, if I do have Celiac disease. I feel like knowing that would be beneficial. I'm not sure what to tell my doctor though. Did anyone have a good experience with genetic testing? I was looking at the one given by Prometheus labs. Has anyone had a good experience with them?

Ravenwoodglass, you seem to know a lot about this. I agree with staying gluten free. The longer I go the worse it is when I eat gluten. It is not difficult to give up eating it. Actually one of the funny things is that I can still eat a lot of my favorite foods. My parents thought it was strange that I used eat weird foods, like I would make my own chicken...

Thank you all for responding so far. I see many of you said my docs information was outdated, which I suspected too. I told him I had tried some wheat free rye bread a while back to see if it would make me sick and he said, "Well if there is no wheat in it there is no gluten." He means well but I don't feel like he knows a lot. My friend has the same doctor...

Ok, after going 5 months gluten free and having sucessful results, my doctor says I'm gluten intolerant. However, he doesn't want me to do the Celiac testing because he says I would have to eat gluten, and he told me he doesn't think I have Celiac because we would have found out before now. He told me I have IBS and that a food intolerance may be linked to...
