ARCHIVED Subtle Symptoms Before The Overt Symptoms
CGally81 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know that I'd been feeling the definite brain fog/zombie-like state thing every time I ate food containing gluten since March or April this year. But before that, I think I got "silent" or less obvious symptoms. In 2007, I had grand jury duty. Every day, they'd serve donuts. And I'd have one. And after having one, I got very tired and stayed that way... -
Symptoms for me are, besides the sudden constant hunger, the following: - Muscle twitching, in any part of my body. Chest, back of my hand, eyelid twitching, etc. - Feeling like my skin, mainly on my chest, is very sensitive. For example, I'm wearing a shirt with buttons. I can easily feel the buttons on my chest, as if the shirt were pressing against...

ARCHIVED Second Resurgence Of Hunger
CGally81 replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Darn. I was afraid of that. I guess it's a good thing overall in the end. I can't wait until my hunger goes down to normal levels. Losing weight before developing celiac symptoms hadn't been easy, and had been done while tolerating hunger I didn't care for. During the first hunger binge, I was gaining muscle rapidly, but not waist. At first. Then I started... -
I'd been having overt symptoms since March 2009, and went "gluten-free" in August 2009. I say that in quotes, because I continued to eat Fudgsicles as a snack, unaware that they had malt powder, and therefore gluten, in them. (I didn't feel glutened after eating them, so I didn't make the connection the way I did with, say, bread) Well, I went through...

ARCHIVED Getting Officially Tested, Trial For Treatment As Well?
CGally81 replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
GI? Gastro Intestinal? Teaching hospital? He initially did refer me for I think an endoscopy, but I turned it down because at the time, I assumed they wouldn't find any villi damage, if I'd been going gluten-free for a while. I'd read there's high risk of false negatives for people who'd been going gluten-free. What's the blood test about? That considered... -
ARCHIVED Getting Officially Tested, Trial For Treatment As Well?
CGally81 replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Since my doctor admitted that he knows nothing about celiac, how can I get to such a lab and get such results? What would I search for on Google Maps to find such a place near me? -
ARCHIVED Getting Officially Tested, Trial For Treatment As Well?
CGally81 replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I see your point about not letting insurance know. On the other hand, if I'm officially diagnosed, then once that vaccine comes (the one that's supposed to train the body to tolerate gluten again), I'll be able to possibly get a referral from my doctor to go get it, thus possibly letting my insurance cover the cost of the vaccine. Though I'll pay out of my... -
ARCHIVED Getting Officially Tested, Trial For Treatment As Well?
CGally81 replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Happy news? I sure hope so. My doctor admitted he knows nothing about celiac. At least he's honest (I'd read horror stories of people whose own doctors didn't believe them, and even some who kept insisting it had nothing to do with gluten). But what kind of "happy news" might I get? Where would I go to get diagnosed? Gastroenterologists pretty much... -
ARCHIVED Getting Officially Tested, Trial For Treatment As Well?
CGally81 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My boss mentioned to me that it might be a good idea to get "officially" tested for Celiac. I already know gluten is the enemy, from my own experiences, including being accidentally gluten a few times (frosting on an otherwise gluten-free cupcake, crackers on fish, Fudgsicles, and a rotisserie chicken from ShopRite). And I know I feel better if I don't eat... -
ARCHIVED What's The Best *chewable* Digestive Enzyme To Take?
CGally81 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Okay, I first went "gluten-free" in August, but continued to eat Fudgiscles, not realizing they had malt powder. I removed them 2 Thursdays ago, and saw a reduction in my remaining symptoms. Then I ate rotisserie chicken from ShopRite on Thursday. An hour later, I was losing my ability to concentrate, and starting to crave food very quickly. I rushed downstairs... -
ARCHIVED Delayed Reaction...from Fudgsicles?
CGally81 replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've had rotisserie chicken from Bobby Chez, a New Jersey-based restaurant before, and never had problems with it, that I could tell. They're primarily a seafood place. I wonder if that's why? I'm sure they serve foods with gluten (crabcakes contain it I assume?), but maybe they're more careful with their chicken? They always sell it in a plastic container... -
ARCHIVED Your Fisrt Gluten After Being So Careful
CGally81 replied to tmbarke's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Having gotten glutened somehow from rotisserie (sp?) chicken from ShopRite last night, I can tell you that within the hour, I felt like I was starting to get very hungry, losing the ability to concentrate, etc. But I didn't get the gastro symptoms. I rushed down and made popcorn and took 10 L-glutamine chewables. It's a day later and today, my hunger, which... -
ARCHIVED Delayed Reaction...from Fudgsicles?
CGally81 replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Mister Softee is gluten-free, people say. I don't recall ever having problems with them in any way. Plus I'd had them yesterday and the day before. Okay, wheat flour ending up on rotisserie chicken due to cross contamination is a possibility, then. Thanks. Maybe I was glutened after all. I'm still considering the possibility that maybe I just hadn't eaten... -
I used to wonder why I hadn't been getting glutened by Fudgsicles, since I continued to eat them after I went gluten-free, without realizing they had malt powder as an ingredient. A little over a week ago, a strange symptom showed up, in which I'd feel lightheaded and fatigued any time I ate food, regardless of if it was pure protein, carbohydrates with...

The "guts gurgling", "can barely lift my arms" and depression are all symptoms I always got from being glutened. I think it's a safe bet that you were glutened somehow. I'd heard that the longer you're off gluten, the heavier the reaction is if you consume it again, because your body is still building antibodies against it. It's an autoimmune disorder after...

ARCHIVED Withdrawl Symtoms Or Experiences
CGally81 replied to tmbarke's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My story: Went gluten-free on August 2009, after having had symptoms for like 4-5 months. First the hunger came, and it was massive. I'd be weak and shaky a lot, and eating huge meals. I didn't seem to be putting on weight, until suddenly I put on muscle, but not fat. (The fat came later, but at the time, I was still consuming small amounts of gluten... -
ARCHIVED New Symptom: Tired After Eating, Lightheaded, Headache
CGally81 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Okay, for the past week or 2, I'd been having a new symptom: whenever I eat something, seemingly ANYTHING, I feel tired afterward, and I get a headache and feel lightheaded. Last Wednesday, it was so bad that I took the day off from work. Actually, I woke up real late, and just called in sick. Glad I did. I slept in the morning until noon, then had a big... -
Interesting that you mention that, along with the headaches and lightheadedness. For the past week or two I've been having the same problem. Eating ANYTHING would make me very tired, and also give me a headache. But in the past few days, the headaches and tiredness have been getting better. Want to know what I did differently? I discovered that the...

ARCHIVED Casein? Something Else? Mild Headache Cause
CGally81 replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I used to have that problem a lot, and you've got a point - it's possible I still do have that problem. For breakfast today, testing the casein hypothesis, I had 2 cans of tuna fish and a full glass of milk. I got a headache, but I haven't yet gotten "can't focus due to hunger" problem. It's only been an hour though, but sometimes, I'd be feeling that... -
Here's another one. Open Original Shared Link It's said to not have any allergins in it, and is made for the most sensitive individual. Would you recommend this? Would it work with gluten, casein and soy? (Just in case I have problems with those last two)

ARCHIVED Casein? Something Else? Mild Headache Cause
CGally81 replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When would I take the enzyme? I wouldn't have to take it to work before having lunch, would I? Also, I am thinking that maybe it is casein. My hunger is less now that I cut the other two "mild gluten" foods out of my diet, but I'm remembering that, seemingly like clockwork, I tend to get hungry and fatigued about 2-3 PM every day at work. What do I have... -
ARCHIVED Casein? Something Else? Mild Headache Cause
CGally81 replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks. I know that I had just recently removed turkey lunch meat (CC issues) and Fudgsicles (malt powder is an ingredient) from my diet, and that helped hunger issues. I'll keep eating casein for a few days to see if it seems to cause anything gluten-esque. If it does, then my food choices got limited even more (no yogurt, cheese on hamburger, milk, or tunafish... -
As someone whose withdrawal symptoms (muscle twitching, tingling, heartburn, itchiness) are mostly gone, and whose hunger problem seems to be quickly going away (it was going down and up again, then I removed turkey lunch meat (it's "gluten-free", but cross-contamination may result) and Fudgsicles (malt powder = small amount of gluten, may have been causing...

Now, do you always have to take with a meal? Or can you take 1 in the morning when you wake up, and one when you get home from work?

The instructions on the top one explicitly say to chew, and it's called chewable. I think I might try it. As for the bottom one, it says it contains lactose, so it's part dairy. Any potential side effects for these? I've been gluten-free since August and recovered my ability to tolerate milk and fructose. That a sign that damage has been recovered?...
