  1. I just purchased Mission Corn Tortillas and they are marked "gluten free" on the package. Yeah!
  2. celiac3270, Thanks for your infor - my daughter attended also, took notes and called me with the facts. She was thoroughly impressed with Dr. Green and even asked one question about me! She convinced me to make an appointment with him (or one of his associates) to deal with my stomach problems. He talked about enzymes (which he prescribes) and how he doesn...
  3. Ok, this is another question for the computer challanged - copy and paste someone else's answers and then what? Thanks
  4. Lovegrov, I had a totally different experience - my dr. spoke to me after the endoscopy and told me he thought I had Celiac Disease (what's that, I thought) but I should get the blood work done before it was a definite diagnosis. Also, he told me to go home and look it up on the internet! When I did that, I thought he was totally crazy for even suggesting...
  5. Emma, the "5" I mentioned is the number from my latest antibody blood test. My dr. says that it's good, it shows I am following the gluten-free diet. The strange part of this is that I was totally asymptomatic at the time of my diagnosis. All of these stomach problems just started recently. I'm worried because I haven't responded to any acid medications ...
  6. celiac3270 - My two daughters who live in NY will be attending. I signed up but I'm not feeling up to attending. One of my daughters is getting tested, the other is going to attend Dr. Green's speech. Will you be wearing name tags?
  7. I posted around 12:00 today and I don't see my post. How long does it take to show up? I'm never sure I'm doing it correctly.
  8. I need some advice - I'm still having stomach pain and nausea (around 2 mos.). My GI Dr. at first prescribed anti-acid meds. These have not helped. Now he is scheduling a CT scan. These symptoms started after being gluten-free for 5 mos. My latest antibody test was "5". Is it possible for the gluten-free diet to make someone sick! I never had any gastro symptoms...
  9. Are all cake frostings gluten free? I bought a gluten-free cake mix, but I'm not sure about frostings. (Never bake, my daughter offered to do this) Thanks!
  10. I just called to check on Pepsid Complete and was told that are "testing" to see if it is gluten-free. They did not have a date as to when they would know. I thought I read on this forum that it was gluten-free. Should I take it?
  11. Thanks
  12. I can't find the post about "burning stomach" with a remedy suggested. Does anyone remember where this originated? Thanks.
  13. My GI dr. called with results from my antibodies test. I've been gluten-free for 7 months. It was "5". He said that was down from my original of "194". I was surprised (worried that I was getting gluten) Also, because my stomach is still acting up (pain, nausea) I thought maybe I was getting glutened. He doesn't seem to know why my stomach still hurts, but...
  14. Glad to hear that your tests are over - been there, done that. I was so stressed when I was scheduled to a colonoscopy and endoscopy at the same time, I got so sick (nauseated) that I couldn't drink the prep. My GI only did the endoscopy and then about 2 weeks later ( when my stomach settled down) I had the conoloscopy. Enjoy your trip!
  15. I'm not sure how to reply to a post - sometimes I see my reply and other times I don't. Which button do I click to post a reply? Thanks!
  16. I had a wonderful birthday surprise yesterday. My family arranged for a chef to come to my house and prepare a birthday dinner. My daughter found her online and told her about my dietary restrictions. The chef was familiar with celiac and researched so she could prepare a totally organic and gluten free meal. It was amazing. This was the menu: Salad with...
  17. This is Carol Fenster's Pizza Crust: I've made this 3 times and it tastes like the real thing, just be sure to put A LOT of brown rice flour on your hands because it is very sticky! Also, I double the receipe so it's enough for 3 or 4 servings. 1 tablespoon dry yeast 2/3 cups brown rice flour 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons tapioca flour 2 teaspoons xanthan...
  18. I agree. Actually, I was insulted by his suggestion, I thought he should have given me a different medication if the Prolosic wasn't working. Now I feel that he had "labled" me and may not look for answers when I go to him. This is only the second time I've seen him since my diagnosis (7 months ago). It's not like I'm in his office every week!
  19. I've been having stomach discomfort for the past week (nausea, pain in stomach) My GI Dr. said he didn't think there was any connection to Celiac (I was diagnosed in Sept.04) I had no gastro symptoms, I was iron deficient. After 1 week on Prilosec I'm not feeling better, so I called him today. His advice was "I think you should go on an anti-anxiety medication...
  20. I'm in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
  21. I've been feeling bad for about a week now - first burning stomach pain and now nausea. I saw my GI dr. yesterday and he doesn't feel this is celiac disease related. Told me to take Prilosec (which I started this morning) but I'm still feeling bad, plus a side effect of Prilosec is headache. I don't know what set this in motion. I've been gluten-free for...
  22. Just throwing this out there to see if any of you have any ideas - Before I was diagnosed (Sept.04) I had a cough which I always thought of as a seasonal allergy cough. After going gluten free, I suddenly stopped coughing! Now I think it was related to stomach. Suddenly, in the last week or so, I'm starting to cough again and having some stomach pain and...
  23. I have a slightly different issues than many of the other people who post here. I have no gastro symptoms and was diagnosed because of low iron. I have been gluten-free about 6 months, but most of the problems I've faced have been psychological. I was totally blindsided by this diagnosis (because of no symptoms) and found it hard to accept that I had to face...
  24. I ate tonight at Legal Sea Foods and they have a new wheat and gluten free menu. They were very accommodating on the phone when I called to inquire, and wrote "gluten free" next to my reservation. The menu has many choices, I had shrimp in a garlic sauce with white rice. Really good! The staff was excellent, checking on me several times and at the end of...
  25. Since LaChoy's Soy Sauce is wheat free , I assume their teriyaki sauce is too. I believe they are distributed by ConAgra foods who say they list wheat on their bottles.
